I really don't like ZZ Top or George Thorogood that much, I give them credit for their talent, but I just don't like them very much

I am not a huge fan of ZZ Top. I like some of their songs, but they aren't anything special. They have a couple songs that I really enjoy....but nothing too amazing.

Yea, I don't see much in them.

thickasabrick 03-07-2005 05:34 PM

Is Mike Oldfield someone I should be informed about?

Seafroggys 03-07-2005 06:40 PM

ZZ Top has always bored me when I heard them on the radio. Though they looked fricken awesome (can't beat those beards  )

pigonthewing82 03-07-2005 07:08 PM

Do you guys think Deep Purple sounded too 80'sish as the band went on. I don't know I don't really like their later stuff.

jpj 03-07-2005 07:10 PM

Cheap Thrills by Frank Zappa ia awesome. I think it's a compilation, but I'm not sure. Any Zappa fans here happen to know?

EDIT: Yea, it's a compilation.

So, anyone want to talk about Boston? I've loved them ever sinse my Dad played them when I was young. Very catchy, yet well written songs. I also love all the great vocal harmonies they do.

All our past conversations about them conclude that their first album was great and that nothing else they did was that good.

I like some Styx. Most of them were from around where I use to live. That goes for Big Black, Cheap Trick, The Jesus Lizard, and REO Speedwagon too.

I'm really starting to enjoy...

Arlo Guthrie - Alice's Restaurant

What have you all been into lately?

Johnny B. Good 03-07-2005 07:43 PM

Do you live in Chicago Badmoon?

I love that Arlo Guthrie song Coming into Los Angels.

Badmoon 03-07-2005 07:59 PM

Yea, that's a good song. "City of New Orleans" is another one of his great classics.

Badmoon 03-07-2005 08:25 PM

Sure thang.

Distant Echoes 03-07-2005 08:40 PM

When i was listening to music last week, i noticed Creams intro to Take It Back sounded alot like Truckin'.

I know that happens alot (same sounding music, riffs, etc.), but yet another one I myself have actually noticed. Ironic because i cant keep a thought for more then 2 seconds

wanton 03-07-2005 08:41 PM

My dad said he might get me and him some tickets to the North Georgia Bluegrass Festival. That would be awesome if he did. Anyone know much about it?

Edit: Classic Rock is cool

Relevance to Classic Rock...none
I always encourage conversation reguarding Country, Jam Bands, Bluegrass, and Folk.

As for the other regulars...they're fags.

It is no mistake, Cream are just plain theives. After the Grateful Dead covered "Sittin' on Top of the World", Cream did. They stole JJ Cale's riff for "Cocaine", and then covered his song. They even stole from themselves. Anyone else see te resemblances between "Tales of the Brave Ulyssess" and "White Room"?

Case closed.

Distant Echoes 03-07-2005 08:52 PM

I wouldnt call them theives...but would be glad considering another great band turned to Grateful Dead for inspiration.

The Doors' When the Musics over and Soul Kitchen sound almost like exact same intros, but i wouldnt call them unoriginal.

My sister had some inovative live session call Dark Star on her laptop...23 minutes. I was awsome, i cant get enough of it, as well as some other live jam i forget.

Well, I was kind of joking, but they do have their more unoriginal moments.

My urges to listen to Classic Rock have been dropping drastically in the past weeks...

I'm still listening to good stuff, just not classic rock anymore.

I'm trying to think of something to revive my taste...Idlewild South couldn't do it.. :(

Hedonism is taking over :o
 I don't really care if you talk about that sort of stuff in here, I think it's become a pretty open forum for classic rock lovers more than anything else and I think that's best.

Yea, I know :)

How do you like American Beauty?
