They don't even sound like death metal imo, I think it sounds more like thrash.
But yeah I can't listen to them.
Erm, wtf.

Death were technical in their later years, and it was hardly tech tbh. Its more progish.

Tech without being uber is like, Cryptopsy and stuff.

For the record, Death absolutely owned.

repcak 06-22-2006 01:14 PM

death was progressive death metal after their first few releases.

MRDuCran 06-22-2006 01:17 PM

Well I have all their albums and I can't find anything that I like.

AA-12 06-22-2006 03:16 PM

I can't find any Death I don't like :p

I should stop being such a fanboy :-\

Squirrel 06-22-2006 03:20 PM

I can't name a single Death song I dont like and I have every album and lots of bootlegs ..
Short.

Silent Night Bodom Night
In Your Face
Needled 24/7
Living Deadbeat
Angels Dont Kill
Hate Me!
Downfall
Ouch. That's a pathetic set. Now it's just adding to my bad day.

Only songs I care about seeing live again would be, SNBN, ADK & Needled.

@ Mitch. Yes I hate Death as well. /unites

The Buttloaves 06-22-2006 04:29 PM

When I saw Nevermore at Jaxx, the opener was a local band called Apothys, and they were awesome. Their set got cut a 'bit' short, by 20 minutes, which was teh ghey, but whatever. Anyways, I had never actually heard Death until they covered 'Crystal Mountain' I think it was, or something similar. But it was awesome. This is their MySpace:

That song isn't on there, but their originals are, a few of you may like them.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-22-2006 08:42 PM
Who do you find technical and interesting??
Cynic
Psycroptic
Coroner
Watchtower (though it's been ages since I listened to them)
Pestilence
Sadus
Toxik

I love Death's early material, but I don't like the later progressive stuff.

Yeah definately not a great selection of songs if they want to impress people that haven't heard them.

At least someone else understands.
Cynic

I have a few Cynic and Psycroptic songs on here, but once again that bad production turns me off of it straight away. If they recorded an album that sounded like Nile's AoTW, I'd probably be able to hear it better.

I know Watchtower is other bands with Ron Jarzombek in, but I haven't any of their material, just the Spastic Ink stuff. I'm practising The Mad Dash, it's great.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-22-2006 09:23 PM

Save the first album, Psycroptic don't have bad production

Crystal clear production isn't really a necessity for Cynic like it is for Nile or Necrophagist, though.

AA-12 06-22-2006 09:27 PM

Cynic has pretty good production anyway.

MRDuCran 06-22-2006 09:31 PM

Ok I just realised I don't have any Cynic on here.

There is Psycroptic though.

Outside of In Your Face. It's not even a catchy song list. That's the odd part. Most of the time, when bands don't play their best works. They try to play the catchy stuff, then again Alexi is so drunk.....everything....sounds....so...catchy....except...goss......

eburton04 06-23-2006 01:04 AM

ahhhhh i cant wait to see cob @ the house of blues on monday! ****! and lamb of god! ****!

Yes I post on MX. Any questions about my overly huge ego and binge drinking?

Squirrel 06-23-2006 03:28 AM

Both Cynic and Psycroptics production are great.

Theres a difference between 'good' production and production that you like.

AA-12 06-23-2006 06:11 AM

^Yesssssssss

Finally someone understands that. Raw =/= Talentless people not knowing how to mix.

Squirrel 06-23-2006 06:27 AM

Psycroptics production is great, its crystal clear, polished and very honed.

However, compared to Decapitated's Winds of Creation or the latest Cannibal Corpse, you'd say it sounds meagre and puny.

It just depends on how you like your sound.
