Well is there any song you dont like his voice on?(sarcasim intended)

Red Cow 09-23-2005 05:00 PM

Oh ****,sory bout the spammy post above. At one stage i tink almost every Tool song has being my fave,at the moment its Aenima(sory bout the incorrect spelling)But as soon as i hear Hicks and the heart beat itl be Third Eye

Shadius 09-23-2005 05:01 PM
I think like many people here, my favorite tool album rotates between Aenima and Laturalis. One thing that really attracts me to Aenima is the two different styles in the songs. You can easily tell which songs justin wrote and wich ones Paul wrote. I love that about the album, the diversity gets me all they time.
Yeah.. they didn't write the songs, they just wrote their parts, I imagine.

To be honest, I didn't think it was THAT easy to tell. I seem to remember thinking that either Paul had wrote a more complex sounding one, or Justin had wrote a Paul sounding line when I read who had done what ages ago. Though Justin's ones in general were more complex and melodic.

Newish Tool News:
A few different anonymous tipsters report that Tool has been confirmed to play next year's Big Day Out festival in Australia, a festival which hits several major cities Down Under. More on this to follow.

Here's a tasty morsel: the guys over at the official Suns of the Tundra site (the band formerly known as Peach, Justin's old band) mentioned something about a live Tool release:

"much excitement with the new Tool live album just round the corner, while the boys are finally laying some tracks for the sequel to 'Lateralus' now ..."

According to an article over at ultimate-guitar.com, Maynard will be making an appearance on the soundtrack for Saw II:

The SAW II Soundtrack is [...] distinguished by several exclusive tracks, including [...] Lohner's REV 4:20 Mix of "REV 22:20" by Puscifer (the duo of Maynard James Keenan - of Tool and A Perfect Circle - and Lohner himself) [...].

The soundtrack is slated for an October 25th release date, according to IGN.
Cool, Jake. Yeah, I was suprised he wrote Pushit to be honest, it sounded far more Justin-ish.

I picked up Lateralus the other day and I'm enjoying it very much. :thumb: I'm looking to pick up another Tool album, which one should I look into getting? My favorite songs off Lateralus are Schism and Parabola if that changes anything.

Ænima, unquestionably. It's their other brilliant album. Undertow and the Opiate EP are good, but not on the same level.

Darkness 09-23-2005 07:27 PM

faith... I jammed with my band today, and damn we dished out one hell of a death metal track. We even left a space for some mad drum fills. :D

Otherside 09-23-2005 07:28 PM

Oh, Tool thread :(

C'mon guys, stop the spamming.

Dude3 09-23-2005 08:07 PM

There's not much to talk about. Its basically a spam-o-rama thread, until we get some new info on the new album.

In other news, I actually listened to Unearth. Maybe i'm alone on this, but I found them suprisingly good.

BlindWriting 09-23-2005 09:17 PM
Yeah I'll wait.

And Blind they don't play Part Of Me on the OK show. His voice is a little weak on The Grudge, but that scream still gets me going.
I meant Cold and Ugly, my bad.

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-23-2005 09:20 PM

So, how much of an effect do the members of Tool have on your guys' playing? I'd say that either Adam Jones or Tom Morello have been my largest influence in my little over a year of playing.

Your turn

[thread ressurection v. 95.02]

Kage 09-23-2005 09:25 PM

I dunno, Adam Jones used to be a huge influence on my playing but I've strayed from that in the past year or so. Nowadays, my biggest influences are Mark Engles and Steven Wilson. I'd also say Radiohead, Mikeal Akerfeldt, and Post Rock bands have had a big influence on me as well.

 Maynard had been an influence on my lyrics, Adam on my guitar style along with Jeff Loomis, and Danny for his complex licks. And Justin just rules.
