I love the way the music drops and James shouts "LOVERMAN!"
I know, and it's so simple, its like there is about 2 riffs, one distorted and one clean but its still so ace. One of my favourite Garage Inc songs, takes a while to get into tho. And it does drag on when you first listen to it.

Joe 08-28-2005 02:13 PM
Loverman=Teh awesomeness.
Cool. I really need that cd. My friend said he would buy me reload next, but I think I'd rather garage inc. next

What are your thoughts on The Outlaw Torn, Flower Dance? I only really gave it a good listen today, and it seemed weirdly familiar some how. anyway, I think its brilliant.

oh yea, definitely.

clairvoyant 08-28-2005 03:05 PM

Metallica's version of Die Die My Darling is very very good, about equal to The Misfits version.

Joe 08-28-2005 03:08 PM
Metallica's version of Die Die My Darling is very very good, about equal to The Misfits version.
It is very good. I like Breadfan a lot too. I think Turn The Page and Whiskey in the Jar are my favorites

Huber 08-28-2005 03:10 PM

There Die, Die My Darling was really good and I think much better than The Misfits' because The Misfits' version wasn't very good at all.

Joe 08-28-2005 07:35 PM

Na, I didn't really like it either.

So this thread is pretty dead. Anyone out there?

Decent Australian artist :thumb:

So... Yeah

FlyingPaul_83 08-28-2005 10:14 PM

I just got load, and I have to sya, it's not THAT bad. It's definitely not "the black album 2" but its enjoyable.

Five Magics 08-28-2005 11:32 PM

Load is a good album, there's actually some groove to it. Reload is ok.

IMO,

The Outlaw Torn > ANY Metallica Song after Black

PepsiMetal 08-28-2005 11:41 PM

Yea, load is a good album. I like aint my bitch, king nothing, etc. but I definetely like reload alot more. Reload has more better songs like bad seed, low man's lyric, slither, fuel, etc..

clairvoyant 08-29-2005 12:03 AM

I personally find Load to be better. King Nothing, Ain't My Bitch, and Until It Sleeps are all good songs.

Jev 08-29-2005 05:50 AM

I prefer Load, i can't really stand Reload.

ride_the_bliksem 08-29-2005 07:49 AM

To me, both albums are far from good. The two albums combined provide three good songs: Unforgiven 2, Fuel and Until it Sleeps. The rest doesn't come close to Master of Puppets or And justice for all. And unlike many others, I consider St. Anger to be a much better album than Load/Re-load.

Chu 08-29-2005 08:06 AM
And unlike many others, I consider St. Anger to be a much better album than Load/Re-load.
Actially, that's pretty much the same opinion of many people in this thread (myself included).
The rest doesn't come close to Master of Puppets or And justice for all.
Both Load an ReLoad are completely different to Master and ..AJFA (which are quite different themselves!), so comparing them is like comparing Apples and Oranges (although I often do it myself :upset: ), we'll probably never see the likes of another Master of Puppets, or ...AJFA (if that's your thing  ), so instead of hoping for something of old, we should be hoping for something new, and something brutally thrashy \m/
The riffs from St. Anger were among the finest to come out of Metallica HQ in a long time, and that in my opinion, is good. I can't wait to see what they come up with next, but I know for sure it's going to be great (well, if they get that wah away from Hammett :p)...

I'd say there's more than 3 good songs.

PepsiMetal 08-29-2005 10:31 AM

Most songs on reload/load/st.anger are good, but they're just not as good as their earlier stuff.

Jev 08-29-2005 10:41 AM

It depends really, if you're more into thrash and metal, you're gonna say the earlier songs are better but if you're into hard rock ect. then you're gonna like the later stuff.

Britton 08-29-2005 10:44 AM

I think they shoulda just taken all the good songs from reload and just made Load
and that woulda been a incredible album....in my opinion

munky_magik 08-29-2005 10:46 AM

Reload is compiled from the songs they didn't consider good enough to grace Load.

temporary 08-29-2005 11:06 AM

I'm not a fan of either, although I love The Unforgiven II.

Endless Obsession 08-29-2005 11:09 AM

For me it goes like this. Every song off of their first 4 albums was incredible. The only one I dont like as much is Escape, but its still a decent song. Black album was a GREAT album, I would choose it over a lot of other bands I listen to, but still is not as good as their first 4.

They for Load and Reload, each have their high points, but some of the songs really SUCK on those albums. And St.Anger is above average, no "sucky" songs on it.

DaveTheAmazing 08-29-2005 11:10 AM

Hi Metalli-gang. Let's discuss how different Metallica would have been if Dave and Cliff hadn't died/left the band!

I personally have no idea how things would have turned out. There's a good chance everything after Kill em All would be extremely different, if non-existant. Maybe they would have broken up, though for soom reason I doubt it. With Dave and Cliff, maybe they wouldn't have turned hard rock, and produced 10 MoPs! :thumb: . I can't really say for sure, but it would be a Metallica I'd love.

How about you?

PepsiMetal 08-29-2005 11:15 AM

They probably would have gone the same path, but obviously solos, some riffs, basslines, etc. would be different because different people would make it. I dont think dave or cliff would have wanted to stay in the MoP era forever. They all would have probably wanted to change their style sooner or later to something new.

Jev 08-29-2005 11:16 AM

Metallica Dave wouldn't have worked well, i just can't see it happening.
Metallica with Cliff would've eventually gone the same way as Metallica without him.

You mean Dave and Ron?

Ron McGovney was the bass player when Dave Mustaine was in the band.

Cliff came on after Dave had left unless I'm mistaken.

Cliff had he lived would have left the band rather than cut his hair and sell pop metal to kids then sue them.

They sued their own 12 year old fan. What happened to the day when you were just grateful to have fans, much less sue them for not having a penny to their name yet still doing your best to listen to their music?

Jev 08-29-2005 11:17 AM

Cliff was there with Dave for a while.

Endless Obsession 08-29-2005 11:18 AM

Well DBoon, I think Cliff would have kept them "real" and not let them do that. He didnt take as much of a backseat as Kirk does.

DBoons Ghost 08-29-2005 11:21 AM
Well DBoon, I think Cliff would have kept them "real" and not let them do that. He didnt take as much of a backseat as Kirk does.
They would have fired him. James and Lars are really the band. Kirk was smart for taking the ride. I mean, I would have too. What else was a Krik Hammet gonna do? The man doesn't write music. He's not a very talented player. Quite skilled yes, but no real talent.

Cliff had more to contribute to the realm of the bass then he did to the realm of metal.

I don't think they realized the influence they had over speed thrash metal at the time, but to have commercial success with an album like Master of Puppets shows clearly they could have stuck to their original mold and still had very good success with it.

PepsiMetal 08-29-2005 11:21 AM

As far as I know lars was the only one to sue napster, so why say metallica did it. James and Kirk probably didn't even care about it. We all know lars is a greedy bastard. And if Cliff cared about music he wouldn't keep his hair just because of music since hair means nothing for true musicians.

Jev 08-29-2005 11:26 AM

I think Kirk went to court over the sueing thingy but i'm probably wrong.
Lars does use Metallica even when he's talking about himself like he would say "1/4 of Metallica take drugs regularly" instead of just saying "I take drugs"
