I just got my girlfriend into tool, I had on 10,000 days, She loved how he said "10,000 days in the fire is long enough"

She mainly listens to rap/pop....
Nice work man. I wish i could get someone into Tool. :upset:

Syncratic 04-21-2006 03:31 PM

My friend thought Opiate was the new album, and downloaded it.

He liked it.

Shadius 04-21-2006 03:50 PM
hes definitely using his epilady during that solo. No question
It's definately talk box as well.

I showed my girlfriend Vicarious and the Pot today, she thought both were cool, I think she's going to like this one more than Lateralus, where she only pretty much loved Parabola and thought Reflection sounded pretty cool.

I'm Charming 04-21-2006 04:14 PM

I saw 10 000 days on the dailyupload and I'm dling it.

I decided I'll give it a chance.

Syncratic 04-21-2006 04:20 PM

I'm starting to really love Vicarious.

The build-up to the final chorus is legendary.

Probably wont like it, I would think you would like Undertow the best.

Syncratic 04-21-2006 04:35 PM

Has anyone seen an official video for the single yet?

UpperDecker 04-21-2006 04:39 PM

There's alot of "conspiracy" stuff about this album on other sites. Some people claimed that some stores are releasing 2 cd's so there's a possibility of a double cd or what we're listening to could possible be a b-sides disc. I do enjoy what i've heard and Wings part 1 and 2 are some of the most best pieces of music i've ever heard but i find it hard to believe that this is all that they have come up with. Something just tells me that there's more than this.

clearvision 04-21-2006 04:45 PM

It'd be nice. Real nice. But it just doesn't feel likeley. It's entirley possible and there are logical arguments supporting the existence of another disc. But WHY would they do it? And how would it have been kept from the fans for so long?

deadohiosky9 04-21-2006 04:57 PM

Another disc would be f'ucking amazing, but I'm doubtful.

supermasterp0rnoman 04-21-2006 05:15 PM

going to see them in detriot, oh my god i cant even wait. got 6 tickets for me and my friends close to the stage.

99% of bands couldn't come up with as much interesting music in their entire carears that there is on that one disk.

How could 10,000 Days be b-sides, anyway? Vicarious is the single, it's clearly an A-side. The Pot was also announced to be a single, and after hearing it, I can see why, also another A-side.

Syncratic 04-21-2006 05:54 PM

I just watched a fan-made vid for Vicarious on YouTube.

Among some of the unsettling images were pics of actual murders and an image of what appears to be someone sticking their head up their own ass.

Go to Multimedia on that site, find the 2002 Schism recording, play it.

Hear the alarm bell type sound in the intro and the percussive notes, similar to Vicarious.

lucky luciano 04-21-2006 06:09 PM

Is there anyone in here who hasn't downloaded the ****ing album yet??

Syncratic 04-21-2006 06:16 PM

I didn't download it, just Vicarious.

I hear the Wings For Marie/10,000 Days riff. Whoa, I hear the main riff in Lost Keys too.

Conor 04-21-2006 06:28 PM

I'm starting to think this album is highly satirical. Alot of the riffs are ripped straight from their past songs, its almost like they're mocking themselves or something. I think they leaked a few real songs like Vicarious, Wings for Marie and 10,000 days as a fake album with some remixes, because stuff like Jambi and Rosetta Stoned sounds like their old songs touched up a little.

Rubbish.

If you went to a few Mars Volta gigs, i'm sure you'd hear segments of improv that they might turn into stuff on their next album. This is similar.

Songs like Rosetta Stoned and Right in Two have a few parts that are identical to older songs to the point where it sounds like a remix. I just think with 5 years of the band minus Maynard jamming, they could of come up with some stuff a bit more original than this. The songs kick ***, but overall half the album feels like Tool doing an impression of Tool.

Well they have all the same members, they are destined to sound somewhat similar you know? I get what you're saying, I just disagree. It's plenty original, Adam just plays that fast 16th note(?) rhythm that he does in Schism a lot.

Yeai noted alot of riffs during the cd that are very close to their previous stuff. I heard stuff similar to 46 and 2 i heard a couple identical to Third Eye, one reminded me of a part in Lateralus. Thats why i thought this was maybe a b-sides of earlier songs, that and the fact that there isn't much progression from Lateralus besides obviousl Wings and Rosetta Stone. I also here a pretty similar riff from H. in Rosetta Stoned.
Same.
Could I ask a really dumb question?

Why are you holding off on downloading the album?

That seems rather pointless.

I mean. If you want to buy the album, you still can. Even if you download it now.

So I really don't get it....

This may still sound dumb to you, but I'll try to explain it. We want to experience the album to the fullest. We want to arrive at the CD store on May 2nd, buy the album, put it in the CD player and hear something intirely fresh. Listening to the album pretty much destroys any sense of surprise. And why not respect the bands wishes and hear it when it comes out?

ArC 04-21-2006 07:21 PM

Anyone heard any rumors for opening bands? I've heard Isis, but haven't seen anything on it since then.

If it's just Tool, how long do you think they'll play for? I'm hoping for 2+ hours of just Tool.

Umm. That made perfect sense in an oppsite way.

I hate surprises & can't stand them ever. So obviously that's prolly a reason I couldn't see that. Umm. I just think the music is the music. It doesn't matter when I hear it, it's the quality of it.
Umm... As The Official MX Pirate I obviously choose to download leaks and such. Just a matter of what you like. Artists wishes aren't my huge thing but w/e. That's my two cents.

Thanks. I have to listen later when I've got nothing to do to 10,000 Days. I figure I might as well give it a chance even though I hate Tool, at least I'd be able to bash it then. At least having heard it, if I didn't like it. haha.

Cheers!

Darkness 04-21-2006 07:27 PM

It's just the sheer excitement of buying the album as soon as it's available. We love Tool that much. :)

Its not a huge deal, and bands always use the same formula of past albums, its just a few of these similar riffs sound a bit too close to be homages and more like the band f*cking with us. I'm starting to think half the leaked album is a prank, and the final will have some other songs.

Det_Nosnip 04-21-2006 08:07 PM

I think that you guys are reading into this WAAAY too much. The album leaked. Deal with it.

Damn, man...live a little! Life would be so dull without a little shock and awe.*

Anyways, the album seems to be growing on me track by track. Vicarious has really grown on me, I'm really starting to like it. Jambi is really starting to grow on me as well...yes, parts of it have a very clear Aenima feel (H, in particular), but it's a fantastic track.

*Yes, that was deliberate.

Seriously. Albums leak. The band isn't playing a prank. You're not that special. :p

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-21-2006 08:11 PM

The only problem that I have with calling this album a prank or compilation of B sides is the title track; who in their right mind would release something of this nature with the title track being about the life of their mother?

That would be like calling your mom 'not good enough' or something. Do you guys get where I'm coming from or not at all?

Rothmans 04-21-2006 08:20 PM

Instead of everyone ignoring me for once is there any chance I am listening to a different 10,00 days and wings for Marie?

My one is light throughout and atmospheric and every one elses through the way they are describing it and how he sings seems to be heavy?

Yeah there is one or 2 riffs but no vocals and lasts for 30 sec at max...

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-21-2006 08:23 PM

Nah, you probably have the same one. There's one heavy riff that seems out of place, then there's a buildup.

I coudn't have said it better myself.:chug: What you say about respect is funny to me cause it makes me wonder how many hardcore "Tool changed my life and got me into sacred geometry and metaphysics" fans there are in here that waited five years for this album, but can't wait another two weeks.

That's brilliant, I am doing the exect same thing. I can't bring myself to download the CD plus in Australia it is released on 29th of April. Vicarious is all I have heard so far.
Umm. That made perfect sense in an oppsite way.
