Oh man, today was pirate day in pit. A good portion of us came in with paper hats this one girl made (EXTREMELY hot, by the way), and we just whipped them out in the middle. Quite fun.

She'll live as long as anyone else, she just has to deal with periods of pain and the occasional hospital visit. Lately she's been going back way more than usual. December was her first time back in the hospital in years.

Yeah, she has sickle cell anemia. I couldn't imagine what it would be like without her, or maybe I just don't want to. I've gotten pretty close to her despite being 1300 miles away.
