I'm actually attending the University of Maine at Farmington. I've met a few people, but nobody wants you if you don't fit their click. I just don't do clicks. I think that scares people.
I know. I honestly don't know how I am friends with the people I am. I guess it just kind of happens. You do find people that aren't bothered about images or being part of the group, you just have to wait. Look for an ad for a bass player in a newspaper? If you find a band you like, you get to hang around with them, and become mates with their mates. I dunno, just don't give up on people, however many are jackasses ;)

Yeah, I've been around the circle a few times. What I'm hoping is that everything works out with my current group. But, like I said, I'm a pessimist.

I've thought about looking for a band to join. Last time I was in a band it was a blast, but one of the guys moved out to Washington State with the Americorps... I never really bothered looking again after that. Maybe once I turn 21 I'll start hitting the bars on open mic nights.

just got back from marching band grand national competitions. we got 16th place over all , and we won our class and got the caption of "best general effect"

fatbandit 11-07-2004 02:10 PM

Go for it. I don't like the idea of auditioning for bands, especially people I don't know. I don't like being judged I spose.

Both of my bands, I've kind of been asked to join though, so its not been a problem thus far. But getting onto the gig circuit gets you to know all the cool local bands too.

^^Woah. Cool. :amaze:

Back when I was in the School Orchestra my district won best school orchestra in the state like 8 years in a row or something at an annual competition. But that's nothing compared to 16th in a National Comeptition.

Left Shoe 11-07-2004 02:13 PM

o for my last post , there were 93 bands there competing (the best of the best huwa!)

Sounds cool. Actually, my University doesn't have a jazz band right now :amaze: but I'm thinking about taking matters into my own hands and starting one up for next semester.

Saitoku 11-07-2004 02:32 PM

Well, I've got a bit of homework, guys. Checking out. Later.

FUNKNBASS 11-07-2004 03:19 PM

Hi everyone.

:amaze:

Wintermute 11-07-2004 04:02 PM

Hey. How are things?

PaulSimonon 11-07-2004 04:03 PM

Hey all.

Wintermute 11-07-2004 04:05 PM

What's everyone up to?

I'm trying to find my Allan key so I can adjust my action. But I can't. So I'll have to bear it for now.

PaulSimonon 11-07-2004 04:09 PM

I just got home from band practice. It was.... interesting.

Wintermute 11-07-2004 04:10 PM

Interesting? A versatile word...

Elaborate!

Spaceman Spiff 11-07-2004 04:10 PM

anyone have AIM and can "legally" send me some program to record with?
i can't find any that i can download. :(

Wintermute 11-07-2004 04:12 PM

Go on Kazaa and search for Cubase SX.

And dont tell me it's not on there. It is. You want a roughly 50meg file, it may have the phrase H20 in the name somewhere.

Well, me and my drummer and one of my THREE guitarsist have taken to calling our vocalist "Band Nazi", because of his, well, dictatorship over the band. He yells at us, a lot, and I've never heard him sing well. We've only played "Meant to Live" (NOT my choice. I hate the song.), and two mediocre original songs. We've never made it through any of them. I'm not allowed to slap. I know all of my lines, but everyone else forgets stuff, or rushes, or isn't paying attention. Then we get yelled at. A lot.

Wintermute 11-07-2004 04:15 PM

OK, so I seem to have just downloaded a Simpsons episode. By accident. Odd.

*watches*

Put simply, he has to go. Try forming a side project with those band members who agree with you, then coincidentally start to lose interest in the primary band.

Spaceman Spiff 11-07-2004 04:20 PM

hmm, i don't even have kazaa on my computer anymore, all i use is soulseek...i have found it, the only downside is that the download only comes from one person and can sometimes be slow... :upset:
but i am currently downloading it.

The drummer and I have discussed a Toast Machine-ish duet thing. He's a crazy drummer too, so it'd be pretty good. I think once my position in another band is solidified, I'll leave. Or sabatoge.

:amaze: 11-07-2004 04:28 PM

How's everyone doing today?

:amaze:

PaulSimonon 11-07-2004 04:37 PM

Well enough, you?

Spaceman Spiff 11-07-2004 04:37 PM

today has been a nice, lazy day.

:amaze: 11-07-2004 04:39 PM

Eh, I've had better times, but I'll ge through it.

FUNKNBASS 11-07-2004 04:42 PM

Hey Luke.

Tryxx 11-07-2004 04:43 PM

Today hasn't been great...it's sucked so far. It's Saturday and I'm having to work, on a related note, I hate trees. (Except the ones that grow wood for my bass...es)

Dieforitall89 11-07-2004 04:43 PM

hey guys
