Workingman's Dead has more gems, but American Beauty's highlights are beyond extraodinary.

Official: They're equally as good.
Yea, whatever.

RockAndRoll 03-05-2005 11:23 PM

I really want American Beauty I've gone out before to get it but none of my local shops have it.

I'm sure one of us can give it to you, if you want.

That's odd because everywhere I go the only Dead albums they have are American Beauty and their newest greates hits.

That'd be great I also just like to actually own albums though and I don't have a burner.

Oh ya badmoon i'm coming to chicago in about 60 days.

Hey everyone my name is Mike. I made a new forum for classic rock from the 60's 70's and 80's only. There are not that many members, but after a little bit, I am sure it will get going good. Please join and start some threads. Thank you!

That's cool. But there will most likely be no way that I could be down there. Plus I may be in Kansas for my cousin's wedding.

But :thumb:

Ah well, that's too bad.

Johnnymario 03-06-2005 12:28 AM

Rock now a days doesn't last.. ask anyone to name a popular rock song from a year ago and they will have to wait a second to think about it. Ask anyone to name a popular song from the 60-70-80's and they will do it almost instantly.. the difference...

Classic rock is a classic for a reason. Its just darn good music!

Glitterati 03-06-2005 12:31 AM

Anyone like Jefferson Airplane? I bought Surrealistic Pillow today, and I really like it.

Ya, she did great vocals, she could be very powerful.

the_midnight_rambler 03-06-2005 02:29 AM

jefferson airplane are a decent band, but i prefer the male singer, his name escapes me at the moment, they played awesomely at Woodstock

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 03-06-2005 02:33 AM

Normally I don't talk about jam\blugrass bands but Bela Fleck's Bluegrass Sessions are awsome I cant beleive I found this at the bottom of a pile of Cd's at my dad's house! I had to go to my grandmother's house so I decided to pick up some bluegrass and from the moment the sounds of that banjo stole my ears I was in aw. :)

Have you heard it Badmoon? Jpj?

The reason someone can name a popular rock song from the 70's is because they've been hearing it for 30 years.

Well that or you could say its classic. :p

unclebobscircus 03-06-2005 08:10 AM

My friend/bass player's uncle used to be Grace Slick's guitarist (this was after Jefferson Airplane and Starship, though). Now he's a teacher...

Broken Arrow 03-06-2005 08:17 AM

Yeah, I own the second session. It's pretty good, plus it has almost the best players you can find.

Vassar Clements
Earl Scruggs
Bela Fleck
Tony Rice
Sam Bush
Ricky Scaggs
etc

Jefferson Arirplane's Male Vocalist = Marty Balin (I believe, but that sounds right)

I don't own any stuff, but Bela Fleck does kick ass.

And I thought Paul Kantner was the male singer for Jefferson Airplane.

We promise not to play anything you haven't heard 1000 times already.

THAT'S what Classic Rock is.

100% true, and we're proud of it.

Marty Balin was the lead guitarist, no?
Dang! Marty Balin played for them though, right?
Yea, he played guitar and he may have done back up vocals along with Jorma. I'm pretty sure Paul was the lead male vocalist.

Badmoon 03-06-2005 02:01 PM

Jorma was the lead guitarist.

Badmoon 03-06-2005 04:25 PM

I'm thinking about learning a whole album on guitar. Any ideas what that album should be?

RAR, how do you like American Beauty?

I learned DSOTM on guitar, and its alot of fun. Id choose an album that doesnt require many tuning changes between songs though...its just a hassle

I think I remember you saying this exact thing a few months ago. You decided on American Beauty.

Jam2Me 03-06-2005 04:37 PM

Any Steely Dan fans in here? I have a greatest hits compilation which is good enough for me, I think.
