Bye Ric.

Hi guys.

bottlerocket 03-23-2006 07:28 PM

Hye guys, funny story time!

So I got home from school and found a letter from Boston College, one of the top 20 (so I've heard) schools in the United States. I open the letter all excited and this is what I find (post to follow)...

I'm posting here cause Gav is...

So, buddy, I have a link for you. The Golden Book of Chemistry. It was banned in the 1960's for encouraging kids to do unsafe things. You might like it.

Mr. Gavin F. Corey
* ************ ***
Saugus, MA 01906

Dear Mr. Corey,

I appreciate your patience as the Committee on Admission has been evaluating over 26,500 applications for the 2,250 openings in Boston College's next freshman class. We were deeply impressed with the intellectual prowess and personal accomplishments of this year's candidates who have honored us with their interest in the University.

With the review process now complete, acceptance letters have been sent to those students we hope will comprise our Class of 2010. They have until May 1 to let us know whether they will accept our offer of admission.

Due to the extraordinary competition for admission this year, we were not able to admit many students who would have enriched the quality of our learning environment. This is a painful reality in any highly selective admission process.

Because you presented such strong credentials, you have the opportunity to place your name on a waiting list for admission by sending back the enclosed response card as soon as possible. While this option further extends the anxiety of the college admission process, I did want to provide you with an opportunity for possible further consideration.

Should you wish to become an active candidate on our wating list, there are several things you should know:

- Your admission status at Boston College is uncertain. You must secure a place in the freshman class at an institution to which you have already been admitted.

-We will not decide if any students will be admitted from the waiting list until mid-May. We are not able to meet with students on the waiting list during this time and no information can be provided over the telephone.

-Candidates are not rank ordered on the waiting list. Ratyher, the Admission Committee convenes to re-evaluate students if there are still opoenings in the freshman class. The only new information considered would be your most recent grades, so please have your guidance counselor send them to us.

-In recent years, as few as 50 students and as many as 300 students have been offered admission from an active waiting list of about 1500. There is always the possibility that no students will be admitted from the waiting list if the freshman class is full in May.

If we are able to admit students from the waiting list, they wioll be considered for campus housing and aid based on availability.

-We pledge to resolve your status no later than June 15.

Thank you for reading this letter and considering the waiting list option at Boston College. Best wishes for the remainder of your senior year.

Sincerely yours,
Marybeth Cheverie
Senior Assistant Director
Undergraduate Admission

Don't mind the typos.

So yeah, basically I almost threw up and started shaking uncontrollably...apparently I'm not good enough to get into BC, which means I'm not good enough to get into Harvard...nor Yale...nor Tufts...nor any school I applied to I actually want to go to.

I might not even go to college next year.

Don't worry man. You should do fine. You said Yale interview went well, so I'm sure you'll make it.

Justin: I don't get points for having the same name though? :p

Yes, I agree with Justin, it'll be fine.

Hey, other Justin, we won't mind, just hide the link, or just all out post it.

So I just finally got on the computer since my mom has been on all day doing taxes. Have I missed anything?

bottlerocket 03-23-2006 07:42 PM

I don't think you guys get it:

My whole world just came crashing down and then some.

This was a school I banked on being able to get in fairly easily and here I stand rejected.

So yeah...4 years of busting my butt...getting into school at 530 am...leaving at 9 pm (sometimes 2 am when it comes to newspaper), starting clubs, president of this, captain of that, working my butt off in my bands, doing basically anything I could to get into college...

WORTHLESS

Awesome.

No really, it is.

Gav just doesn't realize he's smarter than a good 90% of the population. He'll get over it. >.>

Seriously man, that's one place. Others won't be so blind. Smack them with those 16 Gavel's if they are.

BridgeToSolace 03-23-2006 07:43 PM

It's not okay, Gav.

Your entire life is over.

Get a head start and kill yourself now.

For serious.

You always think everything is the end of your life, and in the process don't think things through at all. Calm the **** down, take a deep breathe. Listen to some Misery Signals, and just wait. There ain't much you can do about it now. Pulling your hair out will serve no purpose.

DJ Ducksauce 03-23-2006 07:43 PM

Yeah, you're a mod, you should be fine. Post it. Now. Do it. You know you want to. Stop reading this post. Why are you still reading it?

Gav: Sorry dude. It'll work out. You'll get accepted somewhere really good don't worry.

bottlerocket 03-23-2006 07:49 PM

Blah...you guys don't get how important this is to me, no offense. I think Tryxx does because he's known me for a while and knows how seriously I take school/studies and things like that...

That doesn't work. Do we just click it and the dl starts?

Gav should realize that. What were the SAT scores again? I remebered them being really high though.

I'm going to UT here. Haha, no Ivy league unless I get a huge scholarship. I do have a shot at val/salut at the moment though. And I might be able to get some stuff from PSATs. I only scored 88% last time though. Need to improve that a bit.

B 03-23-2006 07:50 PM

I'm pretty sure I get it dude. But that's not the point. You'll get accepted somewhere, ESPECIALLY if you did all the stuff you said you did.

If you consider the last four years of your life a waste because one college didn't completely accept you to their school, then you aren't as smart as people say you are, and it's no wonder you didn't get into that college.

Apparently it's broken. I'm reuploading.

My SAT score was only like 1220, 1240, one of those... I'm in community college now and loving every second of it. I'm got automatic acceptence in to the two Uni's I want to go with those scores, so I don't know much about the whole acceptence business. I do know Gav's smart enough to do whatever the hell he wants and that school is just retarded.
