So Arena Rock is crap, and so anyone who is crap is automatically arena rock? Whatever.
And I like The Who. And I like Def Leppard. Deal with it. |

The one with the long hair is me
Has anyone told you that you look kind of like a younger Dave Mustaine? |
Has anyone told you that you look kind of like a younger Dave Mustaine?
lol no but they have now :p my brother says I look like John Fruciante in the one picture of me with the asian guy |
Don't put the Who in that shitty company. Jesus if Lunch sees you comparing The Who with Def Leppard...
Haha, I was just about to complain about Riva's post until I decided to keep reading the page. Good to see I'm known so well, hah. But in all seriousness, the Who and Def Leppard. Really Jason, was that called for? |
I was reading the song meaning for Comfortably Numb, and I think "just a little pin prick there will be no more ahhh But you may feel a little sick" means hes shooting heroin because heroin makes you sick

By all accounts the song is about Roger suffering from hepatitis before a show in Philly and some corrupt doctor shooting him full of elephant tranquilizers (?), which somehow made him feel better but then a lot worse later while he was on-stage (he said his arms felt like lead poles, he could barely play). Of course there's always the random offshoot theories about the song being about how big stoners the Floyd were, especially since everyone seems has an opinion on the song and Floyd with it being on CR radio all the time. EDIT: Def Leppard = winnar |

It's because the doctor is giving him a shot to get him on stage, but it's probably an adrenalin booster rather than something designed to cure him. |

You missed the train by almost 4 hours. Bitch. I found a bunch of unfortunately low-quality radio studio performance videos on YouTube I think. They're pretty cool though. Maybe it was Google Video, I forget now. Just look up Pink Floyd on both, you'll see what I'm talking about. |
2 days without a PF post? This is absolutely terrible.
Mudmen is such a great song to sit in front of a window on a rainy day with headphones on and just completely mellow out to. |
All of the softer songs on Obscured By Clouds are. It's a great album since it has songs for almost every mood.
|
I going to this Pink Floyd tribute band later today.. I hope they're decent.
|
What's their name? The two I've seen have been amazing.
|
I'm seeing The Machine in 2 weeks. Riva, have you seen them? I know someone here has and said they were great.
edit- I'm digging the new avatar Riva:thumb: What's the album right above the Final Cut, to the right of Meddle? That's the only one I don't recognize. |
The Wall Live At Berlin is really cool, even without Dave, Rick, and Nick. I got it the other day and didn't really know what to expect, I was really impressed. I think my favorite part was the Sax solo in ABITWPt.1.
Nice avy, Riva. NP: Where We Start (I think this is by far my favorite song off On An Island at the moment.) |

And that is the cover for Psychadelic Sessions, which I have on tape.
The Wall Live At Berlin is really cool, even without Dave, Rick, and Nick. Is that album under the WYWH an alternate WYWH cover or a bootleg of some sort? If you'd give me a bigger avatar I could totally make something original PF-related for ym avvy ;)
|
That's The Early Singles. And I can't give out big avatars anymore, unless that person has one an official competition.
|
:sigh: How about you make a competition called "Biggest Pink Floyd Fan besides Riva"? I'd totally pwn, especially if it was trivia.
|
What's their name? The two I've seen have been amazing.
Pink Floyd Experience. They were good. This giant flying inflatable pig came out of no where and most of the crowd was staring at that the entire time instead of the band, haha.
|
I really want one of the Pink Floyd tribute bands to come here, seeing as how I doubt Dave or Roger ever will.:(

Nice. Very nice. They did the same thing when I saw them. Beyond The Darkside had a giant pig that swung from the rafters into a hammer. |
i love your avatar, riva
|
Thankyou.
So, I saw a Pink Floyd compilation CD that featured a song with Barrett, Lennon and Yoko Ono. I must admit it piqued my interest. I'm trying to find a copy of it on Ebay and Soulseek, but no luck so far. |
My dad can be a real enigma sometimes. The only Pink Floyd he had was DSotM, although I know he listened to some of their other stuff, but somehow he knew about the inflatable pig they sometimes used at their shows. He was talking to me (before I'd heard anything but DSotM), and said "I think on one of their album covers they had a pig, and in their live shows they'd have an inflatable one." How did he know that? I'm almost definitely positive he never went to a show, he definitely would have told me about it by now.
Where's that PF Trivia contest, Riva? |
And that is the cover for Psychadelic Sessions, which I have on tape.
Oh ha I have that. Only on mp3 though. Gilmour/kingofdudes uploaded it a while back. It's good. I'd never seen the cover art though. Neither of my parents were Floyd fans. I don't know if they disliked them, but I know my mom found them boring and I kind of get the impression that my dad never really listened to them. |
My dad liked their early stuff, but lost interest after a couple years. Part of it had to do with him just growing up into the real world too, instead of just being a teenager/college kid collecting albums. It's sad to think about, really.
|
My dad had tickets to see them on the Animals tour, but he got really sick the night of the show and couldn't go. I was deeply disappointed...
My dad was a huge stoner in the 70's, though... |
Thankyou.

I know its been rumored that the Beatles or at least some of the Beatles did a song with Barrett called What a Shame Mary Jane, but its been pretty much passed off as a fake. I own it and I can see how it may sound like them but at the same time there is nothing distinguishing that would make me think the any of the Beatles where on the track. |

My dad was a huge stoner in the 70's, though...
I would drag myself halfway across the US missing both legs and one arm, bleeding from seven gunshot wounds and becoming slowly infected with a combination of gangrene and a tomahawk to the head before I missed a Pink Floyd show. Man... I would never, ever let my dad live that down. |
Oh dear. Then it's probably a fake. It's on this bootleg, I assume, called Last Screams.
Interstellar overdrive (ext) (Barrett/Waters/Wright/Mason) Flaming (Barrett) Apples and oranges (Barrett) The gnome (Barrett) Mathilda mother (Barrett) Pow r toc h (Barrett/Waters/Wright/Mason) Jugband blues (Barrett) Scream thy last scream (Barrett) Vegetable man (Barrett) Julia dream (Waters) Massed gadgets of Hercules (Barrett) Murderistic woman (Barrett) Let there be more light (Waters) What's the shame Mary Jane (Barrett-Lennon-Ono) It would be so nice (Wright) |
