Death Denied 01-03-2006 10:43 PM
Yes, System of a Down are a great band, I would like to see them in concert one of these days, they definately will be around for a long time, HOWEVER, I seen them on the Fuse giving and interview to that one chick and they are one of the most arrogant group of ***holes I have ever seen ever give an interview in my life. The bass player was the coolest one.....but they are good and they know it...so I guess it is all good

They have a true metal like attitude...
I still have great respect for them as musicians..
I missed them in concert when they came to where I am. So sad. :( Oh well. But from what I've read they don't seem that arrogant...then again, reading is much different then having them actually talk.
I just wish that some of there fans would be a bit more mature. maybe a little less....SOAD OMG WTF PWNS YOU...and a little more common decency.

ps* they aren't the best band ever
I'd nod and agree with you but...
*Looks at title and avatar...*
I'm not exactly what one would call...*clicks*...mature.
anyone else read in the new "guitar world" magazine, Yngwie was making fun of SOAD, just a sentence or two. That swedish bastard. oh well, its not the first time he has done something like this.
I thought he said something good about them?

I remember reading something here and someone said he said he likes soad's music or something like that. Just type out what he said.

_x_darkfairy_x_ 01-04-2006 11:12 AM

SOAD are good, but waaaay over rated.

Kyle 01-04-2006 11:48 AM
SOAD are good, but waaaay over rated.
yeah, people who are saying they are the best band ever are crazy. I know that's their oppinion and bla bla bla, but honestly there are bands far more innovative and interesting than SOAD.

Hypnotize was good, I prefered Mezmerise in the end though.

YearsOfOppression 01-05-2006 10:32 PM
System of a Down is by far the greatest band ever. They're music is so invigorating that it makes you just wanna punch something!!:smash:, but then they have certain songs that you can just chill to. SOAD in the end is a very versatile band that practices a lot of music and all of it is AMAZING.
How is system the greatest band ever? After listening to hypnotize a couple of times i have'nt listend to them again. they are getting worse than i could have thought. If they still want to be a GOOD band Daron has to stop singing and let Serj do it. Yes Everyone has their own opinions but there is no way that they are the greatest band ever.

Mein bass 01-05-2006 10:41 PM

Ah system.
One of my favorite bands as a matter of fact.
Metal for are generation. :chug:
That uranium interview was hilarious.John and Shavo were just sitting there watching it most of the time, except when John said something smart and Daron interupted him.
But the best part....
Julia: That's it im out of here.
Serj: No no stay I love fuse.
I don't know why but that had me cracking up

Yes, Ive heard hes VERY arrogent.

A_Guy 01-08-2006 01:21 AM

I don't know if this has been posted before, but i found a sweet SOAD concert on google video, 42 mins long. Im only at 8 minutes and so far theyve only played stuff from their first album. Good waych anyway.

+zero+ 01-08-2006 12:23 PM

geuss what? im going to watch soad on uranium now. yay!

mutant! 01-10-2006 12:08 PM
Gah!! will everyone stop saying nu-metal!

I'll admit the band are probably nu-metal but with all the other **** bands in that genre I hate to class SOAD as that..

:upset:
Just like Feeder give punk a good name (/hates punk), SOAD are a shining bastion of musicality in the mire of sh*te that is nu-metal. I'm not generalising, I just mean a lot of successful nu-metal bands play really unoriginal music.

Blank 01-10-2006 12:28 PM

I like SOAD...I like them alot.
My favorite album would have to be there self titled, then toxicity.
And yes I actually am a fan of mezmerize...and hypnotize is growing on me.Attack is a wicked song.
Yes without a doubt soad is probally one of my favorite current bands.

mbrinton138 01-10-2006 04:23 PM

One thing that was said at the first post:

Victems of a Down was a poem that Daron wrote....I dont THINK it was ever used as a band name.

But yes, System of a Down is amaizng. Daron is by far my guitar idol. Proud to say I play a Ibanez iceman model :)

If that is up to date, I would LOVE to have that link. other than that, I have their BDO concerts downloaded...on the 05 show I dont have that much, but I would love to hear them do their old stuff now. Expecially P.L.U.C.K. or Sugar.

MrJack 01-10-2006 04:28 PM

Im pretty sure he's talking about the show at Whisky. Easily one of their best old shows ever. I watched it on google a few weeks ago...let me find the link....

Edit- That was fast. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5298788966424691415&q=live+at+whisky

mbrinton138 01-10-2006 05:23 PM

thanks, this will be great

DWJK 01-10-2006 06:36 PM

I personally liked Mez better than Hypnotize.

The way I see it..

Mez
Violent P0rn
Old School/Lost In Hollywood
Sad Statue
Cigaro
B.Y.O.B
Revenga
Radio/Video

Hyp
Stealing Society
Vicinity of Obscenity
Lonely Day (Awesome song, shoulda bee longer though!)
Tenative
Attack

In my honest opinion, Mez just has more GOOD songs.

A-S-S-H-A-T 01-10-2006 06:57 PM

true, but in my opinion their older stuff, destroys all the newer stuff.... but bands change over time (e.g. metallica)

Blank 01-10-2006 07:39 PM

Tenative is probally one of hyps better songs.I loved it.
But sill,I hope Daron decides to stick to backup.I feel bad for Serj.

mbrinton138 01-10-2006 07:49 PM

Serj wanted Daron to sing. I was reading something and Serj felt that since Daron wrote most of the material (from Toxicity - Hypnotize) he should get to sing it. Daron is an amaizng singer, too. Daron also said something about it being hard for someone to get the same emotion while singing your songs if its about your life.

Blank 01-10-2006 07:52 PM

Well I guess that makes sence.
And there letting Serj play keyboard alot more so I guess he doesn't felt left out.
But he did write Vicinity of Obscenity which has the best chorus ever

Ya, thats the one. i completely forgot to post the link and didnt realize until now. Sorry

mbrinton138 01-10-2006 08:52 PM

I love Stealing Society, Dreaming, and Soilder Side. Serj and Daron Harmonize very well on Soilder Side.

Blank 01-10-2006 08:55 PM

I love how Serj plays keyboard in about every song now.
And yes the singing was excelent in soilder side.
But I like soilder side intro to....THIS close to being an insturmental.

mbrinton138 01-10-2006 09:00 PM

the little bonus thing at the end of aerials is instramental...and its...good...?

Blank 01-10-2006 09:05 PM

Yeahhhh it's good.
I want John to have a drum solo in a song. That'd be pretty cool....but I can't really see them doing that.
Ah man...I can't stop listening to Tentative.
That female chorus thing is awesome.

mbrinton138 01-10-2006 09:33 PM

Every second of playing that System does is a drum solo for John, the drumming is crazy-cool

Moses 01-10-2006 09:41 PM

I liked Hypnotize but it's more of a "face value" type record than Mesmerize. I'd say I like both equally and Hypnotize still brings back the old overinventive SOAD that we all love.

Blank 01-10-2006 09:55 PM

Yeah.
Attack sounds like old school soad somewhat.
I like the bass lines through the whole hypnotize cd.
And the guitar in tentative.
And the drumming in the intro to attack... :naughty:

Are you sure Daron is an amazing singer? Everyone who i talk to think that Daron shouldn't be singing. They all think that he can't sing for ****. Most people wreckon that letting daron sing is holding SOAD from being better than what they already are. If Daron focused on just playing guitar i think that they would be a much better band.

YearsOfOppression 01-11-2006 04:38 AM

But it's so whiny.
