I hate to be a bore because most of this stuff has already been said, but can anyone suggest anygood ways of writing good, mellow acoustic riffs and simple lyrics to accompany because I've got a party with some mates soon and someone always brings out the guitar.

Use the modes... I think ii, iii and vi are good for mellow stuff.

Try the Jam Session, there's a theory thread in there. There'll be more people who can help you in there. :thumb:

I wonder why people come here and ask how to apply music to sonwriting when... well. We are writers and lyricists and poets and what not...

On a related, yet reall, really sad note I hate institutionalized school systems and the fact that they don't want long-haired punks in their schools. :angry:

aye, I go to a Grammar school. We just had an Ofsted inspection (government check up on schools) and we got 1's in just about everything. 'We' were dissapointed that we got a 2 in modern foreign languages or summin like that. Most schools are ecstatic at getting a 3. That's how stuck up our school is. They've got to be the best at absolutely everything. That also applies to looks!

I rarely get people who 'get' my pieces. Its not that I expect everyone to, but dear God, some of their crits are so off the mark that its painful. I wonder if thats why people are so fearful of critting me, this inability to find something relevant to say.

at least people who crit yours try to understand it, mine critees just kinda give me the blank stare crit

Good; Maybe some more writers coming along so some more quality material and maybe even some more quality crits.

Bad; More dumbass spammers posting joke songs and leaving stupid comments instead of crits etc etc.
