I just got my real copy.

The artwork is really weird/awesome.

bebubly 11-28-2006 04:23 PM
I really do love this album.

Quicksand into A Kiss to Send Us Off is awesome, and I love Dig. Anna Molly is a great single, and I agree with what Bea said earlier about Love Hurts being the "Drive" of the album.

Light Grenades is eh, but I like both Earth to Bellas. I really like Oil and Water and Diamonds and Coal; Rogues is a pretty cool song. Paper Shoes is one of my favorites, and Pendulous Threads I like about half the song.

I really like this album, probably not as much as Make Yourself, but imo it's pretty good.
you know i'm right :p

i'm not the biggest fan of the first three songs, i mean, i like them, but i tend to skip them more often than not.
don't know if i have said this or not on here yet, but my top songs have to be anna molly, love hurts, diamonds and coal and paper shoes.
i have listened to this album so so many times now, it really is great. it still isn't old incubus, but that's probably never coming back :(

gocubs649 11-28-2006 04:29 PM

^mhm.

My play count for Anna Molly was 100+ and everything else was 25+ on itunes lol.

But I imported the actual CD so now they're back to zero.

but wtf:

if you buy it on itunes, you get an extra song, Anna Molly acoustic.

and then in the Japanese version, there are two extra songs.

:(

anyway, I can't wait for the concert

Sound Boy 11-28-2006 05:01 PM

yeah the Japanese version songs are called "punch drunk" and "Look Alive" which are both AWESOME songs that i cant belive didnt make the American copy. anyway this is definatly an album that grows on you. it gets better everytime i listen to it..and i love when albums do that

is there anyway to change the incubus forum name to "The Pendulous Thread" that'd be hot.

bebubly 11-28-2006 05:09 PM

 i want extra songs!!

i booked my tickets for april on friday, IT IS SO FAR AWAAYYY!!

they were so awful when i saw then the summer before last, but i think that was down to their sound quality because it was half way through the day at readong festival, so hopefully april will not disappoint.

gocubs649 11-28-2006 05:12 PM

I saw them... maybe like two and a half years ago at Madison Square Garden in NYC; they were amazing.

You already bought them? Mine aren't even on sale yet lol, and it's in January.

bebubly 11-28-2006 05:19 PM

yea, i was at eden's, and he has no internet, so i had to call up SO many times, but it worked in the end  ordering them so early is annoying, it feels like so long to wait :(

EinzingerIsGod 11-28-2006 05:38 PM

I'm listening to the album for the first time through now. So far so good. The music is great, but AKTSUO sounded over-mastered. It might just be my computer speakers.

Chrysostom 11-28-2006 07:28 PM

Y'know, this album did what ACLOTM did. It grew on me. I loved the first 4 tracks from day one but the rest have really really grown on me. This album is up there with Make Yourself and ACLOTM. I still could have done without Paper Shoes though.

Lunch 11-28-2006 07:35 PM

Does the new album have a similar sound to ACLOTM?

bebubly 11-28-2006 07:41 PM

i love paper shoes.

i like how when he sings "and hen like a locomotive" the drumming sounds like a train especially.

Well, it's closer to ACLOTM than anything else.
Does the new album have a similar sound to ACLOTM?
you know..after thinking about it. this album is like a mix of Morning View and ACLOTM. Here's why:

Morning View. alot of acoustic/chill/laid back songs with a few that rock
+
ACLOTM. alot of raw guitar/bens bass sound/brandons full range of voice/and well thought out guitar solos.
=
Light Grenades

Lunch 11-28-2006 08:47 PM

Doesn't sound too thrilling to me then, I might check it out eventually.

EinzingerIsGod 11-28-2006 09:19 PM

I'm really liking Quicksand, although I wish it was a bit longer.

Chrysostom 11-28-2006 10:24 PM
I'm really liking Quicksand, although I wish it was a bit longer.
Agreed. Brilliant way to start an album. Really atmospheric.

I'm thinking that LG is something of a synthesis between the somewhat adventurous composition and music of SCIENCE and the much more relaxed, slicker, smoother vibe of MV.

EinzingerIsGod 11-28-2006 10:51 PM

None of their albums really has a specific feel to it, although each song throughout their career has fit one way or the other with the album if you know what I mean. This album feels the most disjointed out of anything they've done.

MrRhodes 11-29-2006 02:47 PM

I am really liking the new album. Love the song Love Hurts, can't stop listening to it. I am very pleased that they are coming to scotland, I'm going!:) What are Incubus gig's like?

Neoteric 11-29-2006 06:24 PM

It's a bit of a disappointment to me. I'm hoping it'll grow.

They put on a good show.

Edit: They definitely mastered the shit out of this thing.

gocubs649 11-29-2006 07:43 PM

I am so clueless. What does that even mean?

EinzingerIsGod 11-29-2006 07:44 PM

Mastering?

gocubs649 11-29-2006 07:45 PM

Yeah...

:upset:

EinzingerIsGod 11-29-2006 07:51 PM

It's basically the final run through the EQ before they send it off to the presses. But it sounds like they went a bit nuts. It's a loud album and it peaks (at least my copy) much like RHCP's Califonication.

gocubs649 11-29-2006 07:54 PM

Ah gotcha.

Thanks.

enjoimx 11-29-2006 10:14 PM

this is quite most frustrating thing i have expierienced ever. im not gonna lie. i love incubus like no other band ever. i dont even know how i heard of them but i instantly loved them. i love all their musicians, einzhiger is hands down my favorite guitarist, i love his style. im not a fan boy, i love plenty of other bands but they are my favorite. when they lost dirk i was terrified, i thought they were going to go down hill. proved wrong in ACLOTM. so ive been waiting for this album, SIX months or so for this. excited like a person whos about to get their next crack fix, just like rediculously ecstatic.

AND...now i get it and i feel horrible, not myself. but i just ask myself what happened? what happened to my favorite band ever? im not saying the new CD sucks, it might grow on me but i doubt it. ive listened to it a few times through and im just horribly frustrated because i knwo that they are sooo much better than this...i dont know how to explain it, the record just sounds so...unenthusiastic, if that makes any sense. does anyone see what i mean?

Sound Boy 11-29-2006 11:52 PM

at first listen i was like that between the "Earth to Bella" songs. but it passed after a few listens. the songs i thought werent that great are good now. i like the whole cd. it defiantly gets better everytime i hear it.

the whole album is different cause its mostly about love. which is a topic not often touched apon in previous albums. and you cant have funky hardcore songs about love. well you can but...you know what i mean. plus they are getting older, more mature.

--about the mastering. im glad they did. incubus has a great rhythem section and i love Jose's drums in "A Kiss to Send Us Off". its not a difficult beat but its still pretty badass. maybe next album they should get god ole Rick Rubin to produce...or Scott Litt

EinzingerIsGod 11-30-2006 10:48 AM

Yeah, as much as I like the stuff Brendan O'Brien has done with Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, they do need to find a new producer I think for the next album. Maybe just let Mike do it since he's been producing between albums.

enjoimx 11-30-2006 02:24 PM

i hope it will grow, because im not really feeling it right now.

Neoteric 11-30-2006 03:02 PM
i hope it will grow, because im not really feeling it right now.
Exactly what I'm feeling right now man.
