Audioslave is ok, but only because of the guitar. I'm not much on RATM's singer, his voice just doesn't seem to give as much power in the music as Zack De La Rocha did.
You mean Soundgarden, right?
You mean Soundgarden, right?
uh...no...? |
Oh okay. That made no sense then.
|
How does it not? I'm stating my opinion. I think that Rocha gave more power with RATM than Cornell does with AS. I still like AS, but can't help but adore Rocha's vocals more than Cornell.
/rereads last post OOPS, I meant to say: I'm not much on Audioslave's singer, his voice just doesn't seem to give as much power in the music as Zack De La Rocha did. |
Yeah..
I like Chris Cornell's voice more than Zack's. |

i agree completely, his voice doesnt give the sheer raw power that Zack gave. For that, and because Rage experimented with guitar and bass effects, and because of Brad Wilk's funk drummin w/ ghost notes, Audioslave will never be as good as Rage |
Yeah..
I like Chris Cornell's voice more than Zack's.
I respect that. These forums were created to voice our opinions without getting the crap beaten out of us. I find that Audioslave is more for when your in the mood for something loud and that gives you a rush, while RATM is good for when you feel angry and just want the world to go take a dump on themselves. |
I do like a lot of Audioslave's softer songs, Like a Stone has to be one of Morello's best solos.
|
Audioslave (with vocals) is more of a outer world experience with feelings and emotions. More imagery and spiritual lyrics.
Rage Against The Machine, well the main focus of the band was too be political. In which they were, but they used alot of names and places in the songs, because they need to let the listener know just what they are talking about. Personally I like Zach's vocals more out of the two. |
Not to be a pasifist, but let's not turn this into a vs. thread. :)

True, I didn't like Audioslave when I first heard them because I saw them as RATM watered down, instead of looking at them as their own band. Now I like them. But RATM will never reunite, IMO. The band has ran it's course, and the guys are getting older. I mean could you picture 40 year old guys running around like "f**k the police!"?? It's just funny when you see people like that. |
Have you been to a recent Audioslave concert? They play Killing in the Name, all while Tom Morello gets 4 feet of air on the stage. He's 41.
|
Who cares how old they are.
|
Yeah, don't go there girlfriend. lulz
I prefer Zack to Cornell, mostly because I like RATM's music better than Audioslave's. |
lulzordz.
I like RATM's music better than Audioslave too. But I listen to Soundgarden more than those bands. |
oic
I listen to RATM more. Louder Than Love is a great album though. |
Yeah. Badmotorfinger's better though.
|
I love both bands... if I had to choose (tough one)... I'd say Audioslave. I think that they're more harmonicly (if that's a word) sound than RATM
|
Nah. Outshined, Rusty Cage and Jesus Christ Pose are better than any of the tracks on LTL, but I never really liked anything else off Batmotorfinger.
|
Hey, whatever happened to Zack?
I remember months ago some n00b made a thread in either the Pit or here saying that he heard Zack got shot close to where he lives. Everyone flamed the hell out of him, like most people here do, but that got me wonderin', what's he up to these days? Well, I'm out. |
Who cares how old they are.
Thats true. But he said it first, I was showing that even 40 year olds can still rock out, RATM style. |
^For sure, I mean Maiden still do it.
Morello has got to be one of the coolest guitarists ever, no one else can wear their guitar that high, wear geeky clothes and pull it off. |
Morello is so awesome in his Boy Scout shirt in Battle of Mexico City.
And even more awesome for starting the interlude from "Township Rebellion" at the end of "Freedom". SUCH AN AWESOME ENDING TO A SHOW. My fav guitarist. also please keep audioslave discussion to a minimum, this is a rage thread after all. And NO Soundgarden discussion at all! |

I would do almost anything for a chance to see RATM live. |
The thing that turns me off about this band is the rapping.
|

Would you kill a man.... |
Would you kill a man....
Here is something you just can't understand... how I could just kill a man. |
I put Renegades on my comp and the name of the song comes up as "How Could I Just Kill A Man" anyone else get that?
|
rage is awsome...i started getting into them just as they broke up so i never got to see them live...but then i heard that audioslave was comin to town and they played some rage songs so i jumped on the chance to maybe see part of rage live.... i must say it was awsome...they played instrumental versions of several songs and the whole place lit up and the crowd was all singing the lyrics.....it was beautiful ..lol... to bad the arent together anymore
|
Who cares how old they are.
I think I worded my post bad, of course they still rock! In fact, I started guitar because of RATM. I think Zack's working on this solo album, but who knows what's gonna happen with it? |
