You can teach your self to play guitar with simple tabs, So keep up with the drum lesson if you think that you are going to learn more to add on your playing. If not then I guess you could take guitar lessons

Janeway 02-04-2006 11:15 AM

Picks seem so limiting...Like, the only thing I can do with a pick I can't with my fingers is tremolo pick.

5000th post! WOHOOHOOHOOO!

Anyway, I had my first paid gig yesterday. It kinda sucked, our bassist had just quit. WE got a new one but it was too late for him to take the time off to go to the gig. And our lead guitarist chickened out *again* (one more and he's out) so its just the ryhtm/singer and me. We only did 5 songs and left, didn't get the applause like the other groups did, but oh well, I GOTS ME $22!

HeLLmO 02-04-2006 02:12 PM

man, TooL and Opeth, that's just so amazing. too much amazingness for 1 show maybe

Corkofski 02-04-2006 02:16 PM

my **** gig ownd your **** gig:

turned up, i got sorted pretty quick, the drummer who was supposed to be providing toms and bass did a no show, so i arranged with anothe drummer to use his in return for loan of hat stand.

my guitarists dont own cabs or heads, and as such begged to borrow, and after much arguing got.

then we didnt get a soundcheck

also, our bassist went into hospital monday with a cyst in his leg, then his replacement did his back in, so we had to get a bassist in on the day, and teach him 7 songs in 6 hours.

then we heard the other bands, all hardcore / screamo and we are punk rock

then i was so nervous, i had a drink, then another, and another, andd was pretty pissed.

thn we played, and got booed. i got hit in the face with a shoe, and couldnt drum cos i was drunk. all in all a **** up.

i have video of it which i may upload at a later point

Drum Phil 02-04-2006 02:23 PM

That sounds like most of my gigs.

Corkofski 02-04-2006 02:24 PM

lol...

dont you get paid tho phil?

id quite happily get paid to do it...

Drum Phil 02-04-2006 02:26 PM

£15 a gig for most gigs? Not worth it. I aint gigged for nearly a year though

Janeway 02-04-2006 02:26 PM
