With this many TMV haters on the forum? Well, I guess there's that "silent majority" thing going on that always leads to unrealistic poll results. I thought the winners would be either Frusciante, Cobain, or maybe Johnny Greenwood. Either way, not MY favorites, that's for sure!

And holy crap it was the most awesome thing ever. I recommend you all do it if you get the opportunity and/or balls.

That's one of my "things to do before I die" things. I'm only sixteen, so I'll have lots of time to grow a pair and actually do it.

But seriously, that must have been such an adrenaline rush.

Yeah, it was. The couple of seconds right before leaving the plane, and the first couple of seconds of freefall especially. And it took ages afterwards to settle down from the whole deal.

My girlfriend and I are going to do it for our 4 year anniversary.

That's always one plan. I guess being a mod in this forum will give me a more totalitarian control over any possible competitions, but it doesn't guarantee that everyone won't be disappointed with the results.

I say we shouldn't have polls at all, but decide it through a meeting and deliberation of the best minds of Alt/Indie. Or we could be like [i]Rolling Stone[/i] and just give the top spots to the most popular ones!

As much as I like John Frusciante (almost entirely for his solo work) it would kind of dissapoint me to see him get a lot of votes because most people would just be voting for him because of his stuff with RHCP, and they aren't really alt/indie, imo.

Anyway, I just realized that my printer prints at the same tempo as the song Cabezon by the Red House Painters.

I also realized that I hate AOL.

Yeah maybe. Get together an elite group (or shadowy cabal) of Alt/Indie's finest minds and crank out a hundred or so names.

This top 50 guitarists thing sounds awesome. I think J Mascis or the guy from Built to Spill should win. They are probably the biggest 'guitar heroes' in indie rock.

I'm up for the Top Guitarists poll, would be pretty awesome. Even though I'm bound to vote for Corgan and Mascis all the way.

Wouldn't it be more indie of us to vote for an unknown guitarist which sucks though? Or we could be so indie that we vote for a guitarist which is really famous , yet notriously sucks, just to stand out.

That's why I don't think voting is such a great idea, since the whole idea of the music these people play goes against the popularity contests that those polls become. We should just pass judgement on them :mad:
