Eliminator 10-24-2006 10:04 PM

glenn tipton is definitely my favorite

my most played song according to last.fm

mr_jackalope 10-24-2006 10:33 PM

So the new Tom Waits box is pretty enjoyable 1 disc in. His cover of Sea of Love is a standout.

mr_jackalope 10-24-2006 10:43 PM

Also, he totally played "Lie to Me" when I saw him in July. I'd been wondering what the hell that one was...

Little Man being Erased 10-24-2006 10:46 PM

Has that actually been released or is that a naughty version?

Zmev 10-24-2006 11:05 PM

Prob naughty.

YDload 10-24-2006 11:40 PM

i forgot about this last.fm thing. i dont listen to much music on my computer anymore because my roommate is doing homework most of the time and i dont feel like headphones. i guess this is just whatever was on my ipod walking between classes :(

1 Sun Kil Moon 57
2 Sunny Day Real Estate 24
3 Dinosaur Jr. 23
4 Minus the Bear 19
5 The Flaming Lips 13
5 Embrace 13
7 The Replacements 12
8 Sparta 10
9 Meat Puppets 8
9 Television 8

metalicajaymz 10-24-2006 11:59 PM

One of the guys in my band has the Talking Heads Brick, which I was listening to. The remastering sounds fucking excellent. Very clean, punchy and crisp. Pick this up if you're a fan.

Zmev 10-25-2006 12:22 AM

Duran Duran - Pop Trash

Robert Crumb 10-25-2006 01:03 AM

I spent most of this morning listening to Momus. I'd never heard anything by Momus before but pretty fun stuff, lives up to what I expected. Just some nice lo-fi synth pop.

Gentle Moon is probably my favourite. There isn't a song on it that isn't awesome though. Salvador Sanchez is fantastic.

I Was A Kaleidoscope 10-25-2006 04:32 AM

Squirrel Bait - Skag Heaven
Don Caballero - American Don
The Exploding Hearts - Guitar Romantic

ATM 10-25-2006 09:02 AM

How are the Exploding Hearts? I've been meaning to check them out.

mr_jackalope 10-25-2006 09:30 AM

Probably the best punk band of the last 10 or 15 years (punk in the Costello/Clash sense). Everyone should definitely hear the album, it's retardedly catchy and great.

mr_jackalope 10-25-2006 09:30 AM
Has that actually been released or is that a naughty version?
dirttty

And so, so good.

asymm 10-25-2006 11:49 AM

Okkervil River - Black Sheep Boy
Supersilent - 6
Damn, I really love this record.

AlienEater 10-25-2006 12:05 PM

Killdozer - Burl Ives.

pixiesfanyo 10-25-2006 12:47 PM

I can't see listening to Tom Waits for three albums worth in a row.

It seems like it'd just be boring.

I'm digging His Hero is Gone atm.

Trust me, it completely rules. I've only done one disc of the 3 so far, but I followed it up with Alice and Swordfishtrombones and loved every moment of it.

Both of those are absolutely phenomenal, especially the second.

pixiesfanyo 10-25-2006 02:19 PM

I think I should probably hear 6

I keep on hearing raves about it.

It's like ambient shit right?

Interstate 10-25-2006 02:28 PM

Today has consisted mainly of KRS One & Big Pun.

mr_jackalope 10-25-2006 02:29 PM

It has ambient qualities, but it's more like avant-garde free improvisation. I'll hook you up with it on aim later if you want, just ask me once I get on, I have to go now.

Nacho what the hell is wrong with you, Glenn Tipton is boring and only serves to properly introduce the album. even Lily and Parrots is way better because it has some rock to it :)

1. Last Tide/Floating
2. Duk Koo Kim
3. Salvador Sanchez
4. Carry Me Ohio
5. Lily and Parrots
6. Gentle Moon
7. Glenn Tipton
8. Pancho Villa
9. Si Paloma

pixiesfanyo 10-25-2006 03:15 PM

Duk Koo Kim rules.

Salvador Sanchez is okay, but really the guitar tone on it is horrendous.

YDload 10-25-2006 03:21 PM

yeah i know what you mean, its got kind of a daytime soap opera feel to it :-/

i dont know why i used that analogy, but there you go. im just not big on the longest songs in a given album (like duk koo kim), so i'll always choose say... "Eriatarka" over "Cicatriz ESP" or "Parabola" over "Reflection" because i like it better when a band can cram everything it needs to say into a normal-length song.

pixiesfanyo 10-25-2006 03:26 PM

Did you just mention Tool?

You faggot.

ATM 10-25-2006 03:59 PM

Guitar Hero 2 - Ost
YOURCODENAMEISMILO - Print Is Dead Vol.1
Andre Nickatina and Equipto - Horns and Halos
Ben Folds - Supersunnyspeedgraphic

Definitely, it's almost perfect. If you find yourself even remotely enjoying 6, make sure you watch their DVD, 7. Watching these four Norwegian guys play is mesmerizing and truly inspiring.

mr_jackalope 10-25-2006 05:15 PM

7 is definitely the best purchase I've made in the last few months. I'm working on converting one of my roommates; at this point 6 is merely "okay"...
