I have about 5000-6000 Pokemon cards still, and actually started playing at my local card shop again few months ago out of shear memories heh.

The new cards suck now, due to it being sold to Nintendo now...so many broken combos that they obviously don't see.

My friend, whom like lives at the cardshop when ever he has time off, is like ranked in the top 100 of worlds and brags every day about it :lol:.

Also William Hyung is ranked in the top 50 of worlds. :lol:

I just picked up Dark Tranquility - Character, giving it a listen now

Unfortunately the #1 player in the world lived in the same general vicinity as I...so he slaughtered every tourney I played. Worse, in his prizes, he would pull super rare stuff, and just...give it away to people in exchange for cards worth a lot less :(

I know 2 guys here locally that are in the top 5 worlds in Pokemon. /is lame

But they are both adults with kids, and playing Pokemon with the kids is something to do with the kids, and they kinda picked up on being good at it heh.

I also know a guy that is the state champion of Oregon for MTG, and he has been invited to quite a few Magic Grand Prix's as well.

But now, Magic sucks big time because they are running out of ideas and are making so many lame straight forward powerful cards with simple combos that every one runs. But they released the sequel to the Unglued set, it is called Unhinged. Pretty funny set as well.

I remember I wasted a good deal of money on magic as well as pokemon :(

A sequel to Unglued? Awesome. I still like the Unglued stuff I have.

And yeah, I agree about Magic going severely downhill. I stopped playing (and stopped generally paying attention), sold the majority of my cards (except the ones I really like for reasons other than rarity) when they changed the card design for the tenth anniversary. I hate the new design, intensely (and that's separate to the actual decency of the cards themselves).

I'm sure, if I could be bothered to somehow plot it all on a graph, the decline in quality of MTG would coincide quite nicely with the rise to prominence of Kai Budde.. :)
