WAY TO GIVE AWAY THE ENDING STEERPIKE. JESUS CHRIST DELETE THAT POST BEFORE ANYONE ELSE SEES IT.
Honestly, I thought that at this point, there was no one alive who didn't know the ending even if they didn't read the book. It's been ripped off and parodied enough times, god knows...

I seriously thought it had gotten to the point you couldn't give away the ending to War of the Worlds any more than you could give away the ending to The Wizard of Oz.

Illmatic 07-08-2005 11:04 PM

I have minimal interest in seeing the movie or reading the book so it didn't bother me all that much.

It's for a good cause though Steerpike. That music is great.

Maybe so, but I know tons of people that give me blank stares when I even mention the prospect of them having seen the original movie to them.

EDIT: As I said in your thread, Ozric Tentacles is the next band I am going to purchase the entire discography of, because it's STELLAR. More samples, on the double! :p

Steerpike 07-08-2005 11:08 PM

I love the groove they have.

All 5 songs are up now, though if requests are demanding enough, I may post a few extras.

Cain 07-08-2005 11:10 PM

Happy re-congratulations to myself at passing 5k posts for the second time today.

I bought A Blaze in the Northern sky yesterday, then I went to a Punk Bar that I frequent, the guy was like :Which one is that? I'll put it on !
So there we were listening to Darkthrone in a punk Bar. Awesome. Me and my girlfriend kinda made up, although I'm still mad about what she did but we had an awesome day, we went to eat a waffle ( ), I bought my CD, sat around in the Punk Bar, went to an Italian Restaurant, walked on the docks, past the river and watched the lights of our enormous city at night. :)
Then we went to another pub, where they used to play metal, now mostly metalcore and nu-metal, it's still fun. She phoned her mom asking if I could sleep over, and to my surprise, I could.
Then we went to bed, fooled around, had sex twice. Then I got the idea of smoking a joint, we made a really heavy one, almost no tabacco, she was extremely stoned and I'm telling you, she was awesome, she did everything I told her to do. Never opening her eyes. And she was just awesome. :naughty: Had sex a couple of more times, I'll spare you the details.
Then we went to sleep and when we woke up, we jammed (on musical instruments this time)

Wow, I had a great time.
My New MX hero

One time some guy came in the CR Thread and said he read the entire thread and thanked us because he learned so much. That was the only time he ever posted.

That sounds like it could be a sad story or a happy story, depending.

EDIT: Well, it's 1:30 and I am seriously exhausted. Good night everyone.

I actually tried doing that a few months ago. I never was able to read the whole thing, it would be impossible to do it now.

TheMachineRagesOn 07-08-2005 11:32 PM

I have a hard time reading back through the posts that I missed in this thread if I am gone for a few days.

And now you guys really got me interested in seeing WotW, and I have never read the book or seen the original movie.

NP - Graveland - Blood of Christians on My Sword

Graveland - Thousand Swords = a very good album to say the least, certainly worth the time it took me to get it.

ATM 07-09-2005 12:27 AM

I'm a loser and I read every post that I miss :/

Bazarov 07-09-2005 12:36 AM

Dude, I do that too every now and then. HAHAHA

Riva 07-09-2005 02:04 AM

I do as well... :)

So, a lady from my town made the front page of the local newspaper. The reason? She lives in London, and takes the bus to work everyday. Her bus is the bus targeted by the (supposed) suicide bomber. Her usual seat? About two chairs in front of the spot where the bomber was sitting. Luckily for her, she called in sick to work that morning... How would you be? I'd be buying lotto tickets for the next three weeks, hey?

Steerpike 07-09-2005 02:09 AM

Hey Jason, you're supposed to be my friend. Why haven't you bumped Ozric Tentacles yet?

Illmatic 07-09-2005 02:13 AM

Jason: That's nuts. That is good luck. Just like how Seth MacFarlane was supposed to be on one of the planes that hit the WTC on 9/11 but was hung over and missed his flight.

NJMetalMeister 07-09-2005 02:20 AM
I heard WotW wasn't that good. *gets ready for yelling*

Justification: my brother said it was extremely lame that some "bacteria" caused them to be immune to something (I dunno, I haven't seen it). He said it was very well special-effected (is that a phrase?) though, and it had a good storyline. I guess he just found it kind of cheesy.. I've been wanting to see it.

NP: Alanis Morissette - Thank You
Id say the first 9/10 of war of the worlds was great, but the ending happend a bit too quickly in my opinion. Like the whole movie builds up to this huge suspsenseful ending, and then it all ties itself up nicely at the end in a 2 minute timeframe. That was rather disappointing, still the rest of the movie is far beyond good enough to warrant seeing it.

Riva 07-09-2005 02:26 AM

The original WotW was way better... for three reasons.

1. Tom Cruise wasn't in it.

2. The fact that the original movie was made in the '70s (I think) meant that they relied on dialogue, plot and acting (rather than special effects) to make the movie suspenseful and interesting. I think that movie was one of the scariest I have ever seen (I was about 7 when I saw it). I was terrified of vacuum cleaners for months after seeing it.

3. It didn't have Katie Holmes' dumbarse fiancee in it.

-----------------------

Haha, I just saw this documentary about these two guys who have raised a pair of tiger cubs from birth, and their life in the African savannah. Anyways, one day Ron (one of the tigers) spots a herd of cows across the river that the marks the border between their plot and their neighbours.

The tiger goes for this cow, and she kicks him square in the head. The tiger was fun, but it was hilarious to see it. The guy later showed footage of a lioness being gored by a buffalo, and zebra kicking a lion in the jaw and breaking it, and other such incidents. Pretty cool stuff.

 Song number 666 on my winamp music library is Deep Purple - Our Lady ('99 Remix). Deep Purple Ist Krieg! \m/

Thats very silly because people complain when movies don't stay faithful to the book which this ending was and then wen some does they say its cheesy. (I must amit they have "lasers" and Unstoppable tripods yet they are too stupid to scan the planet to see if its safe to live.
