Sonic Youth - Dirty
This is probably my second favorite SY album.
man can i not comprehend how anyone could say this. But yeah, to each his own Been digging An Albatross (who are a million times better live than on record), and Deerhoof. Seriously, An Albatross are fukking insane live. The singer was bleeding heavily at the end, from all his failed crowdsurfing attempts. I saved him a few times, though. Such a good night. |
Furuholmen / Bjerkestrand / Wadling - Hermetic
Surprising record and quite good, here's a snippet:
This collaboration between A-Ha's Magne Furuholmen, Kjetil Bjerkestrand, and singer Freddie Wadling is to be filed under strange. Odd tracks are atmospheric instrumental pieces, even tracks are twisted songs, and all are untitled sections of "Solve et Coagula." The trio's first achievement is to make the songs sound stranger than the instrumentals -- usually when it comes to avant-garde, a song equals meat, something to cling to.
|
what a coincidence, it's my second least favorite!
I deny the existence of that album. |

I don't get why people hate Dirty. It isn't their best, but it's far from bad. The Sea and Cake This band is really really good. Anyone heard their new album yet? |
I miss having a TV purely for not being able to see Jools Holland. I heard Grinderman and Joanna Newsom were on last night aswell. New Dizzee tracks are so good, new album is gonna rule.
Yeah, it's one of the relatively few things I'm quite humourless about missing. Grinderman were.. well, weird, but sounded good. Joanna Newsom was surprisingly enjoyable, too. H.E.R.R. - Vondel's Lucifer: First Movement Had this for about six months now, and I'm still really liking it. It's a bit strange - a musical adaptation of a 17th century play about Lucifer's fall - and very long, but quite a lot of the melodies and such are just really good. Probably my favourite album of last year, so I'm looking forward to the next one if and when it comes about. |
