I wouldnt say that, powerslave is a great album from start to finish. There is absoltely no filler (unless you count los'fer words filler).
I consider everything but Aces High, 2 Minutes To Midnight, Powerslave, and Rime of the Ancient Mariner filler.

MrConeman 09-08-2006 09:43 AM
You see the pattern?
I don't know anyone else who's like that.
I'm very much like this. I'll listen to my favourite or what I consider the best artist from each genre, and I never pigeon hole myself into being nothing but a metal head, or a rock fan, or classical, or blues, or punk, or funk or whatever.

There's far to much good music out there to listen to only one single genre.
I don't think Maiden will ever be able to put out as powerful an album as they have in the past.
AMOLAD, BNW and X-Factor are perfect examples of why this statement is false.

Very much so, those albums make up my Top 5 Maiden albums along with SSOASS and POM

Quiksilver26 09-08-2006 03:01 PM

It might just be because it's new and I haven't listened to it as much as all the other albums, but AMOLAD is so far the only one to still give me goosebumps while listening to some of the songs. FtGGoG ftw.

MrConeman 09-08-2006 11:41 PM

After a tonne of listens (by now) It's definatly one of my favourite Maiden albums, it's just...bloody well written!

There are certain songs off of Brave New World, Dance of Death, and now A Matter of Life and Death that beat ALOT of their glory day's 80's stuff, they probably will never surpass that era, but they definatly have moments on the new albums that dominate the older ones.

The song writing is so much more complex. I'm glad most others share my liking for this album

Favourite songs:
These Colors Don't Run. (Steve/Adriann/Bruce dominate lyricly on this I think)
Different World (Adriann knows how to write a solo)
The Legacy (wonderfull classical intro from Janick)
Greater Good of God (amazing solo transitions)

I really do love every track on this album, but those are my stand outs, for now. I absolutely cannot wait to see them in December! *explodes*

HahahitnRun 09-09-2006 12:13 AM

Which new songs do you thing they will play live on this tour? I have a feeling a Different World and The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg are almost definite choices, not sure about anything else....maybe These Colours Don't Run or The Pilgrim would be pretty sweet.

(*The Noonward Race*) 09-09-2006 12:19 AM

I hear iron Maiden before.

Apparently they're playing the whole album plus a few classics.

-The Frank 09-09-2006 06:29 AM

This is how it is:

ALL of AMOLAD

encore:
HBTN
NoTB
RTTH

I was thinking the other day that 'edge of darkness' could fit pretty well with the setlist.

Their new stuff is good, but I still don't believe they can cap what they've already done. And please don't even mention X-Factor, is was garbage.

For serious??
As much as I love AMOLAD and the post encore songs, I dont think I'd be happy with that as a setlist...I'd rather hear a few from AMOLAD a few from DoD a few from BTW, and a bunch of classics. :upset:

Meatplow 09-09-2006 08:53 AM

I am listening to Invaders right now, Number of The Beast is such a cool album.

:D

I am bored anyone wanna msn and talk crap?

I was just guessing :p

Of course they are going to play a few other songs in there to.

Lord Abortion 09-09-2006 09:01 AM

I would love to see.(for the older tracks, what I think we WILL see for the new ones)

Different world (you can tell they'll open with this)
These Colours Don't run
Still Life
Killers
Where Eagles Dare
Longest Day
Fortunes of War
The Aftermath
The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg
Strange World
For the Greater Good of God
Hallowed be thy name
Iron Maiden
..........................
The Legacy
The Edge of Darkness
The Trooper

PAJJ 09-09-2006 09:03 AM

it'll be my 5th&6th maiden gigs in December, i couldn't be more excited by the prospect of them playing the whole album, i'd be unhappy if any of the songs were dropped, and it'd just be so immense.

Meatplow 09-09-2006 09:08 AM

np 22 Acacia Avenue

MrConeman 09-09-2006 09:08 AM

This is my first Maiden gig, I'm hoping to hear more of the stuff I grew up with really. Still though, they play Ireland on every tour they do, so I'm likely to see them a few more times anyway :)

np: For The Greater Good of God.
What a most excellent song.
EDIT: I've just realised the bit when Bruce is singing "For the Greater Good of God!" it sounds a little like during Seventh Son, when he's singing that chorus.
I consider everything but Aces High, 2 Minutes To Midnight, Powerslave, and Rime of the Ancient Mariner filler.
Really? I've always loved Back in the Village, Flash of the Blade, and Losfer Words, especially the guitar work on them. The Duellists is probably the weak spot of Powerslave for me, though.

AMOLAD is pure brilliance. I'm not sure whether or not to say it's better than some of the "classic" albums yet, but it's easily the best thing they've put out since Seventh Son, at least. Keep in mind, I was never a fan of The X Factor (asides from Sign of the Cross and Man on the Edge).

HahahitnRun 09-09-2006 12:10 PM

I'm hoping they change their setlist in comparison to Death On The Raod (Besides obviously adding songs from AMOLD and taking out most DoD songs), would prefer The Wickerman, Ghost Of Navigator or even Blood Brothers over Brave New World and Lord Of Flies is really replaceable. Would be kinda dissapointed if they don't play 2 Minutes to Midnight.

132WalrusesInMexico 09-09-2006 12:17 PM

I heard a rumor that they're rebuilding thier Powerslave set for a tour in 2008. Can anyone confirm this for me?

PASCHENDALE???

Maiden should just tour by themselves so they can play more songs, cause I've got too many that I want to see live.

I heard this rumour too. Apparently it's for part 2 of their history DVD. The tour will consist of songs from Powerslave, SiT, SSOASS and NPFTD with the Powerslave stage :)

Burning Organ 09-09-2006 04:18 PM

I have a feeling Jan will be leaving the band; he recently moved back to the North East of England to give his kids a decent school...he's still only 45 minutes from London by plane but I get the impression he's winding down.

Hello BTW! :chug:

rofl. A little harsh, but rofl none the less.
That's exactly what I thought as I read that too.

Lord Abortion 09-09-2006 05:48 PM

I apologise, but he could at least check his facts.

metallicaman8 09-09-2006 07:52 PM

Tomorrow I'm going into town and I only have enough money for one CD. I've been wanting to get Maiden's new album, but I've also been wanting to pick up a Children Of Bodom album. Is Maiden's new album truly as great as the hype proclaims it to be? 'Cause I'm not really sure what to buy.
