That background is the same as some of the pictures in Surrealistic Pillow. Where is it?

EDIT: Real funny you stupid link

Badmoon 01-14-2005 06:33 PM

Most likely in San Francisco or Palo Alto.

jpj 01-14-2005 06:35 PM

I want an exact location, you're supposed to know these things Badmoon.

Jam2Me 01-14-2005 06:56 PM

****, Phil Lesh is really goofy lookin'...

Anyways today I picked up Cream - Disraeli Gears used for $8 and Buffalo Springfield - Retrospective Greatest Hits $6 both are pretty good, I wasn't into either bands at all before getting those Cds. I think I like Stephen Stills more than Neil Young.

At the same store they had the Layla Sessions package for $28.99 (used) I was tempted to get it...I heard from my uncle that the jams are amazing.

Me too, except I'm sure of it.

Jam2Me 01-14-2005 07:09 PM

lol Yeah I think I'm pretty sure of myself too. I wanna get some solo stuff by him I saw a lot while perusing through the "S" section, I bought a Sublime CD instead though.

I just found out that mom went to see CSNY in concert but she doesn't remember it to well.

jpj 01-14-2005 07:30 PM

She was undoubtedly high.

My mom went to a CSN a couple years ago year, but she's 44 so I don't think she was high.

That's what you think :p

Actaully some parents still can't accept the fact that the 70's are over and indulge in the marijuanal arts occasionally.

My friends dad smokes every day still. I think its really weird though.

Anyways, my parents liked boring music so they have nothing that interests me...I actually have to explain to them what was going on at the time when discussing music. The only thing we agree on is the Doobie Brothers...my favorite song by them is "Black Water" it's a great southern rootsy song.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 01-14-2005 07:37 PM

 I dont think she was high my mom only smokes cigs but who knows? :smoke:

American Beauty haters! Explain yourselves. Why do you dislike the album, which songs bore you, which do you like, etc?

I'm in an A.B. mood :).

P.S. If it was Canadian Beauty, would you like it more?

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 01-14-2005 08:01 PM

He's from West Virginia.

Broken Arrow 01-14-2005 08:02 PM
News:
It's a sad week for rock 'n' roll. The Associated Press reports that Spencer Dryden, drummer for the Jefferson Airplane in the rock band's glory years, which included the breakthrough 1967 album "Surrealistic Pillow" and the Woodstock festival, has died at age 66. And James Arthur "Jimmy" Griffin, a founding member of the 1970s pop group Bread, has died at age 61. Both deaths were caused by cancer.
Awww Skip Spence. He was also was one of the founding members(he didnt stay for long) of Quicksilver Messanger Service.

Edit-Skip was Canadian too, I believe.

Edit-I like American Beauty:) (alot)

Hah, hell there's NOTHING wrong with pot I am a big supporter of it.

American Beauty is my favorite Grateful Dead album so I'll have to butt out of this conversation
I should mention American Beauty in the Important Rock History thread.
Unless someone already did and that's why you're talking about it.

Yea, how dare you imply that I'm one of those filthy Canucks  I will not take such abuse!

Especially since I'm from West Virginia where we take pride in our Canadian hatred!

BludgeonySteve 01-14-2005 08:09 PM

This Canadian thinks that American beauty zwns.

gaypj just doesn't like soft music or something. He should go to one of the metal threads.

jpj 01-14-2005 08:12 PM

There's nothing wrong with soft music just not boring soft music.

BludgeonySteve 01-14-2005 08:14 PM

I'm 15 and I love classic rock :thumb:
I'm just starting on the guitar and I want to know a good old song that is simple and easy to play.
Any suggestions?

I didn't see these, you ninja edited them in.

Why do I dislike it? Simple, I don't find it entertaining to listen to, and for me that's the whole point of music, to listen to it and have fun.

Which songs bore me? Box of Rain, Sugar Magnolia, Operator, Candyman, Ripple, Brokedown Palace, Till the Morning Comes, and Attics of My Life.

Which do I like? Friend of the Devil and Truckin'.

The solo of Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd is pretty easy.

 Just kidding...I play bass :\

Those were always there,
Ripple, Brokedown Palace
But that is the most beautiful song combination ever. And the rest, I of course disagree.

Here is an interesting picture.

Now, there was rumors of Garcia finger tapping every once and awhile. Many believe the "Terrapin Station" solo was tapped. Well, as much as I've heard, I don't know. But this may be a bit of evidence.
