music is subjective... some ppl would say band xx is writing the best songs in the world, another would say they sound all the same.

Music is a individual matter... so if you want to argue about FTR, so do it as men and not as idiots

Things are getting intresting around here :-P

Besides we all know FTR is better anyway (kidding)

Shattered_Future 06-13-2006 04:34 PM

Why does this always happen?

Moses has a point though...most of the songs do follow a set pattern in a set key for most of the album.

repcak 06-13-2006 04:36 PM

i don't know why this happens so often ...

after reading Moses opinion about FTR ... it was like
same song structure, same riffs, it sounds the same - but well, for me CoB is one of my fav bands so i don't realize those things :D maybe he's right... i have to proof it ;)

Moses 06-13-2006 04:40 PM

I really liked the album at first but I can't really put it on that much anymore.

NP: Chick Corea: El Stephen Pt:1

Why would you wan't to if you like listening to it does it matter if he thinks it sounds the same?

Shattered_Future 06-13-2006 04:42 PM

^ Now he, on the other hand, is a God.

EDIT: Chick Corea, that is.

Oddly enough, that argument inspired me to put on Kissing The Shadows. The lead section in the song still blows me away.

Oh, definately. I'm not saying the content of the album is bad, just it gets to be too samey sometimes. Kissing the Shadows is pretty great, I even learned it on keys.

Oh and yeah, Chick Corea is god. I'm gonna upload To the Stars for the Daily Upload.

what kind of keyboard do you have?

TEST 06-13-2006 04:52 PM

If you want to argue a CoB album sounds the same, I'd agree with AYDY(most of it).
Though,

Living Dead Beat, AYDY, In Your Face, Bastards Of Bodom, We're Not Gonna Fall (TS&L is on the EP first so I don't count it) are great, but really not that great.

The 2nd half of HCDR is BAD. The solo in YBOD is great. HCDR isn't a bad song , but nothing great. Triplecorpse Hammer blow is boring. LilBlood red riding w/e isn't good at all.

Inearthed > CoB

Homeland II (Inearthed) has licks that later became Towards Dead End fyi
what kind of keyboard do you have?
I have two Yamahas. One is a 88 key, only about 8 different sounds, but it sounds real nice, which is what I normally use. The other one is a 60 (I think) key one with a whole ****load of effects. Each were about 600 dollars.

Shadows Within 06-13-2006 04:56 PM

only 8 sounds  ? which ones?

Well it's more for straight up playing classical and jazz (it's wieghted) rather than messing around with, which is why I have the other one for all the bells and whistles.

The sounds on that one are:
Grand Piano1
Grand Piano2
Electric Piano1
Electric Piano2
Organ1
Organ2
Strings
Harpsichord1
Harpsichord2
Vibraphone

The other keyboard has about 800 different effects and sounds.

Shattered_Future 06-13-2006 05:19 PM

I always liked weighted keyboards more than the other kind, but I lack the funds or skills to get one with weighted keys.

Since I don't feel like making a whole new thread in Audio Arena where I'd get pwned by uber leet recording majors, I'm posting in here. I recorded the F-Zero theme. You should take a gander.

Cool.

If it was me, I'd double up the rhythm tracks, one left and another right, and stick the leads in the centre.

Beatcraft for the drums eh, I can recognise that snare anywhere.

[Nightbreak] 06-14-2006 02:10 AM

Just wondering if anyone could help me, what's the track the keyboardist plays as the intro (track 1) on Tokyo Warhearts? Thanks.

Bodom in November!
