It's a lost cause.

In like 3 more years, "emo" will no longer be cool and we can listen to our damned music in peace.

whiteminority 01-06-2007 08:01 PM

I listen to it in peace, I just can't talk about it with anyone in peace. I don't even use the term emo actually anymore, I just say hardcore if they don't know what's up.

cobert 01-06-2007 08:01 PM

They just talked about Brian Wells on Americas Most Wanted.

I remember that thing when it happened, it was weird.

Yeah, that's what I meant. My bad.

I usually say "hardcore," too, when people ask what I listen to.

whiteminority 01-06-2007 08:09 PM

I know I'm just giving you a hard time Gav. =D

AIRIC 01-06-2007 08:12 PM

I had the emotional hardcore discussion wiht my mom and sister and needless to say it had no effect :upset:

whiteminority 01-06-2007 08:13 PM

My parents don't care, my mom just calls it punk. I'm fine with that.

cobert 01-06-2007 08:14 PM

I dont know if my mom knows anything about the music I like, she has a general idea I think, but really doesnt know anything past its people screaming.

Concubine 01-06-2007 08:15 PM

Many people are so close-minded that it's impossible to get through their thick skulls when it comes to music genres

AIRIC 01-06-2007 08:15 PM

Yeah my mom just knows the it's mostly vocals that you can't make out. The whole discussion came from some question like "Eric do you know that emo band Fall Out Boy"

bottlerocket 01-06-2007 08:16 PM
I know I'm just giving you a hard time Gav. =D
I thought we were bros.

</3

My parents call it "that screaming stuff," "punk rock," "hardcore," and, my personal favorite, "your god damned rock and roll music."

No, I'm not making the last one up.

Concubine 01-06-2007 08:18 PM
"Eric do you know that emo band Fall Out Boy"

So true

cobert 01-06-2007 08:21 PM

My sisters boyfriends brother, who is 23 and I play RISK with alot, decided to talk about emo being anything with cliched lyrics, and I started out nice by asking him if he knew anything about punk or hardcore, and he trie to play it off like I didnt know what I was talkin about because I was 17, saying 'Right now you think your musical tastes are holier-than-thou, youll recognize in a few years that it was never that good'.

Coming from a guy that like Sufjan Stevens.

:-\

I was listening to talk radio one day and I heard some guy saying his oh-so biased opinion on anyone below the age of 21, and he said some kid was 'emo' and that it meant overly emotional.

bottlerocket 01-06-2007 08:25 PM

Cob, next time, knock him out, shove a Risk game piece down his throat so he chokes, and poop on his chest.

That'll show him you're mature.

I was hanging out with my dad and he started making fun of "those damn emo bands that whine all the time about how they are such nerds". Made me smile and say "Damn right".

Whoa whoa now, let's not knock people who like Sufjan. Illinoise is sweet.

cobert 01-06-2007 08:31 PM

Yeah, but still, accusing me of having a holier-than-thou attitude and listening to pretentious music...

Ha.

Hes pretty immature himself, he always argues with his brother over stupid stuff. They both sound like theyre 6, its awkward for everyone else playing.

whiteminority 01-06-2007 08:38 PM

Screw that get him to buy you booze.

bottlerocket 01-06-2007 08:38 PM

Don't drink.

Drinking = bad

O_O

whiteminority 01-06-2007 08:40 PM

This coming from the man who introduced me to my favorite beer.

/rolls eyes

bottlerocket 01-06-2007 08:41 PM

SAM ADAMS RULES.

I love it.

cobert 01-06-2007 08:42 PM

Ive never tasted alcohol.

Actually, the guy Im talking abouts brother, my sisters boyfriend (but kind of not really for the last 6 months, its weird), he keeps trying to trick me into drinking by either saying 'just taste it once so you know its nasty and you wont want it again' or 'hey, do you want the rest of my coke?' like theres nothing else in it.

whiteminority 01-06-2007 08:44 PM

PUSSAY

bottlerocket 01-06-2007 08:45 PM

You don't drink, cob?

Do you have the straight edge?

whiteminority 01-06-2007 08:45 PM

God damn it I knew that quote was coming.

cobert 01-06-2007 08:46 PM

No drinking whatsoever.

Ha, no, but my sister keeps telling me she knows a guy to be my 'straight-edge mentor' that likes the same music as me.

whiteminority 01-06-2007 08:47 PM

Why don't you drink? I drink to keep alive the generations old tradtion of Kuhnle alcoholics.

bottlerocket 01-06-2007 08:49 PM
God damn it I knew that quote was coming.
It's only right.
No drinking whatsoever.

Haha, that's cool.
Why don't you drink? I drink to keep alive the generations old tradtion of Kuhnle alcoholics.
I drink to stay warm and to kill selected memories, 'cuz I just can't think anymore about that or about her tonight.

cobert 01-06-2007 08:53 PM

I dont know, its just something that I never started doing and dont really want to. I get made fun of a lot for it, but It doesnt bother me. But at the same time I feel like that guy at a party that is killing everyones fun because hes not drunk, and for this reason I dont get invited to any parties, even though I kind of feel like theres other reason unrelated to drinking or drugs, but thats definitely one of them.
