That new Califone is easily one of the top 5 releases of this year, no doubt. A few days ago I listened to Orchids on repeat about 10 times, it's too beautiful. Anyone have the original Psychic TV version? I've yet to find it torrented/soulseek'd.

Have you listened to Califone's earlier stuff? I'd say their last two real records are just as strong as this one.

mr_jackalope 10-21-2006 02:54 PM

Yeah those are the ones I was referring to. Q/C is still my favorite record by them, but this new one is making a strong run for the top. It's unfathomably great.

Zmev 10-21-2006 03:34 PM
apparently no doubt do a cover of it.

i hope to avoid it for the rest of my natural life.
Yeah well Save Ferris' version has a horn section. Even though Monique Powell does sound a lot like Gwen Steffani.

Dillinger Four have a sweet cover of Sally Maclennane

Kylesa- "To Walk a Middle Course"

i've been listening to quite a bit of heavy stuff lately, compared to my usual listening habits.

Nomeansno - Wrong

This is better then I thought it would be, "Rags and Bones" is superb.

How does that work? It has some of the greatest hype on this entire website.

Zebra 10-21-2006 10:25 PM

A while back I downloaded I Am Wrong and Stocktaking and didn't really care for them. I recently decided to buy it because of all the hype it was receiving.

sr800bkBassist 10-21-2006 10:25 PM

Nomeansno annoys me. mainly just their singer. i can listen to maybe one song but after that i need to move on to another band. and i must say, "Rags and Bones" isn't that good compared to the other songs on the CD. just really repetitive and dry.

Happymeal 10-21-2006 11:13 PM
Do it! The DVD is amazing! Sure, it's ridiculously long (4 hrs), but it's a pure, unadulterated GBV love-fest the entire way.
Will do. When I saw the back of the case there's like a bajillion songs on the setlist. Now I'm really looking forward to watching it.

it's the best song on the album! you have to play it on bass (tabs are online somewhere) to really understand how AWESOME that riff is. and i know u play bass so start learning it!

well yeah the bassline is awesome. but the song itself is just so dry. like it just drags on and annoys you.
