So any opinions on Trafifc? Someone tried to make an official thread about them and I wanted to direct them in here.
Awesome band. Steve Winwood is a great organ player and singer. And I really enjoy Dave Mason guitar work when he was in the band. And it's cool to hear a saxophone on a rock album and other instruments played by Chris Wood.

Very interesting, and often overlooked band. Makes for an interesting listening.

Woodstock 01-14-2005 04:16 PM

To me, Rubber Soul>Revolver.

Cool, Homer is singing The End by The Doors.

magicbus 01-14-2005 04:17 PM

Never heard them. Lunch thank you for clearing up the "dying" whisper, I do it often.

And Livewired, what's wrong with Thank You? Or do you just mean it doesn't fit with the other songs?

slowhand 01-14-2005 04:18 PM
I don't think Revolver is overshadowed by Rubber Soul. Actually I think it gets more credit than Rubber Soul.
If you know about them. But everyone credits more Rubber Soul because of Nowhere Man, Michelle and Norwegian Wood (which introduces the sitar to rock music). Most people look at it as Rubber Soul part II. Though 'critics' agree that Revolver is better, and I'm the only one in my band who thinks that Revolver is much better than Rubber Soul.

-Edit: magicbus has the best avatar... ever!!

I want a poster of that picture to put it up in my room.

Woodstock 01-14-2005 04:20 PM

I think Rubber Soul is much better then Revolver. To me, Revolver gets a little boring at points, but Rubber Soul is an almost perfect album.

Which episode.(You are probably watching UPN Detroit aren't you?)

Magicbus-Yeah it does really fit in, oh well.

I'm seeing a pattern here.

We tend to disagree.

What episode?

Taxman=Groove

I remember seeing it first on a website you linked.

And I saw Homer singing that before I heard the real song, so you could imagine how suprised I was to hear Morrison singing it too.

Oh yeah I've seen that.

Indeed, cheers to George. :chug:

slowhand 01-14-2005 04:32 PM

And to Revolver, which is the album which Taxman appears on.

Broken Arrow 01-14-2005 04:35 PM
 Nice :thumb:

Today I may finally go buy a copy of Revolver.

Thickasabrick, I want a small review on Grateful Dawg. I've never got to see it.

:)
im sorry to say Badmoon, but i never rented it. :upset: i was with my dad and he told me he didnt wanna see a documentary about two guys he'd never heard of...so we rented Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle instead.

Why don't you rent it? I probably will soon enough anyway, so I will update you if I see it.

edit - and yes...i do rent/watch movies with my parents in case any one here is "too cool" to be seen in their public with their parents.

K well I will rent it this weekend and tell you about it. Maybe on Sunday.

I had never even heard of the movie before, and i was walking by minding my own business, suddenly out of the corner of my eye Jerry Garcias moppish hair caught my eye.

Was there any period of time when he was like clean cut?

I've seen him with no beard but it doesn't fit him, he needs it.

thickasabrick 01-14-2005 05:03 PM
I've seen him with no beard but it doesn't fit him, he needs it.
ya that would be very weird.

I had hair down to my shoulders, and a beard a couple inches long, and i shaved and cut my hair several inches about a week ago...and i barely even recognize myself now. I definitely wouldn't recognize him.

jpj 01-14-2005 05:53 PM

Slowhand's name is under Led Zep II twice....hmm....

But anyway I love Working Man's Dead more every time I listen to it in fact I'm gonna listen to it now.

BludgeonySteve 01-14-2005 05:56 PM

Off topicness in my thread?

:p.

I just got Rod Stewart - Every Picture Tells a Story. Very :thumb:

jpj 01-14-2005 05:58 PM

Rod Stewart annoys me at least he does now, I've never heard any of his pre-pop or whatever stuff.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 01-14-2005 06:01 PM

I just got Concert for Bangladesh by George Harrison (Bob Dylan and others too). I love it. :)

lunch998 01-14-2005 06:03 PM

I haven't gotten new CDs for awhile, hopefully I'll go get some this weekend.

Badmoon 01-14-2005 06:04 PM

The beard mainly came around at about 1968.

News:
It's a sad week for rock 'n' roll. The Associated Press reports that Spencer Dryden, drummer for the Jefferson Airplane in the rock band's glory years, which included the breakthrough 1967 album "Surrealistic Pillow" and the Woodstock festival, has died at age 66. And James Arthur "Jimmy" Griffin, a founding member of the 1970s pop group Bread, has died at age 61. Both deaths were caused by cancer.

Badmoon 01-14-2005 06:26 PM

Awww, that's sad :(. He was a great drummer, and really added his own style to Airplane's.

He was also part of the New Riders of the Purple Sage :(
