Yeah, I hope the new album kicks ass. I hope it is good, and I hope they tour and come to KC. I also hope tickets aren't $400.

lightningmetal666 08-23-2005 10:00 AM
Yeah, I was thinking about the competition, but I thought it ended August or Spetember so that was out of the question.
But anyway, I would love it if some of the regulars here did a cover.
Gocaps, Brittallica etc.
I want to upload a cover, but I don't have a converter for audacity. I tried lame.com and it truly lives up to it's name.

Britton 08-23-2005 10:03 AM

My tickets were like 150. I would love to do a cover, I have two million dollers
worth of recording equipment at my disposel so it would sound pretty good.
just let me know which one we are doing. who's gonna do the bass?...I just learned
so if someone else wants to do guitar I could do bass!

Britton 08-23-2005 10:03 AM

I got dibs on rhythm guitar. Just need some help converting my audacity files.

Honestly I like rhythm guitar as opposed to lead, mainly 'cuz I do it better. Plus as a kid I always dreamed of what it'd be like to be James. Yeah I know it sounds lame.

Britton 08-23-2005 10:41 AM

no it doesn't I'm a kid and james is my hero
yea kirk is great and all but james can do everything!
okay yea you can do the rythym
I need to get the tab book so I can see all those harmonics
and stuff at the end...that is if I'm playing lead

Britton 08-23-2005 10:41 AM

you all say you already got the drums down?

Jev 08-23-2005 10:47 AM

What song you guys doing?

Britton 08-23-2005 10:55 AM

for whom the bell tolls...wanna help?

I have the tab book, but it's buried in storage. Damn.

I have guitarpro so that'll work but again I can't upload any of my songs if I don't have a way to convert my audacity (a free recording program) files to Mp3 or the like.

Jev 08-23-2005 11:06 AM
for whom the bell tolls...wanna help?
Ok, what do you need, bare in mind i need to get recording equipment sorted.

metalhead_matt 08-23-2005 11:15 AM

you should dyers eve
i understand that doing for whom the bell tolls would be simpler....

it would be cool if people formed online bands, and each person contributed a recording...like what your doing now, but loads of people doing different songs, then make a thread with a poll for which one is the best...
sorry, imagination is WILD

That's a kick @$$ idea but I think that the Audio area already has that covered.

Huber 08-23-2005 12:36 PM

This is an old idea the regulars have tried to get working for months. The Thread Covers Competition.

Britton 08-23-2005 12:42 PM

Okay I will do Bass then

Britton 08-23-2005 12:46 PM

I play the five string is that okay?
What are we doing about teh covers now?
My brother just layed down the drums for For Whom The Bell Tolls pretty good, and I'm probably going to try the guitar soon, if someone else wants to, go ahead, but yeah, if you still wanna do it, just say so.
I can play lead and rythem for that song, its not hard.

Jev 08-23-2005 01:02 PM

I think anyone could play it.

nirvanakickass 08-23-2005 01:17 PM

metallica are too good

metallicas best song is the god that failed from the black album :thumb: no doubt about it. master of puppets and the unforgiven 2 are both good 2

Jev 08-23-2005 01:35 PM

I don't like The God That Failed that much. I think their best song is Ride The Lightning or Damage inc. Meh.

JonG 08-23-2005 01:41 PM

I CAN play all of For Whom The Bell Tolls, but my tone is absolutely shit.

I have a Gibson SG> Fender 15R > mic

:\

metalhead_matt 08-23-2005 01:45 PM

what about dyers eve? lars's best drum work...
and theyve got too many classics to argue over what there best song is

EDIT: Once you have made that for whom the bell tolls cover, post it in here :) make up an old kirk-mustaine-kill-em-all-style-thrash-metal solo for it though, its cryin for a solo or at least some more lead fills

Father_Jack 08-23-2005 01:45 PM
I don't like The God That Failed that much. I think their best song is Ride The Lightning or Damage inc. Meh.
Yeah Damage Inc is a quality thrash song. Altho sometimes the big arse intro pisses me off. And ride the lightning is good but drags on a little.

Sorry for the advertising, but anyone want to sign up to these forums?. It's been set-up by StonedPrune. We need all the members we can get, i think theres about 80 at the moment. About 95% are from MX.

Dont report me please, i could do without the ban

Poor you, 15rs suck. My uncle traded mine for a Marshall 100watt.
It sounds awesome that synthesizer thing  i dunno what it is
Yeah but it does get pretty tiresome when you just wanna listen to the song.

Jev 08-23-2005 01:52 PM
It sounds awesome that synthesizer thing  i dunno what it is
James calls it "The Pan Flute"

MRDuCran 08-23-2005 01:52 PM
It sounds awesome that synthesizer thing  i dunno what it is
It's a the bass going through an effects pedal.

Well actually in the MoP book its says guitar 1 and guitar 2 both with slap back echo.

metalhead_matt 08-23-2005 01:58 PM

its cool, i dont think they should have had with that song though it doesnt link up IMO. It only drags on because of this, because it isnt similar to the song, if there was a song with that being a main theme, it wouldnt drag on. Do you know what i mean?

MRDuCran 08-23-2005 02:06 PM

Yeah i know what you mean.

lightningmetal666 08-23-2005 02:08 PM

Does anyone here know of a program that will convert my audacity files. I'd be very grateful if someone did. This way I can hurry up and record the Rhythm parts of the song.

Agitator01 08-23-2005 02:08 PM
It sounds awesome that synthesizer thing  i dunno what it is
I thought it was controlled reverb to be honest.

metalhead_matt 08-23-2005 02:09 PM
