ROFL! |
Oh I'm sorry for being honest, feels deeply ashamed.
|

Similar to our lack of care to your comment Edit: great, beaten by fellow posters again :( |
To be honest, I think your opinion on the album will change if you give it a chance. You're not singing along because you don't know the words yet.
|
quit crying about the album and go make your own
Quit living.:thumb: Seriously, nobody is crying about the album. Shit in another forum. |
I will give it a chance. You can bet on that. But there's something in the lack of material to explore. The Pot/Jambi/Intension are pretty straightforward, not much to explore. On the other hand Right In Two/10 000 Days/Rosetta Stoned seem to be very explorable and interesting so I'll probably like them much more later on.
That doesn't change the fact this album lacks material or maybe I was just too spoiled to begin with. |
I think all the songs are fairly explorable, atmospherically as well as just what plain notes they're playing. Once expectations fade, I think the music will sink in. It's so early, you know.
Oh, I asked in this thread... maybe a year ago now if people knew what catchy powerchord song Tool covered at at least one of their shows on their Lateralus tour. Turns out it was Commando by the Ramones. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Y82eYsAfXGc&search=tool Such an odd song for Tool to cover, even though they seem to do it really well. Especially on the Lateralus tour, lol. |
I changed my mind again lol.
Anyone mind hooking me up with the cd? I will luv you long time. thanks |
And can anyone tell me what exactly The Pot is about? I mean, there's the obvious hint from the title and the repetition of "you must've been...high", but in the song there seems to be a lot of talk about hippocrasy ("Foot in mouth and head up ***, so watcha talkin bout?...Who are you to wave your finger, so full of it, ankles deep in muddy waters, ****ing hippocrite..."). I figures it was like kids nowadays telling there parents" hey, you smoked pot back in the day...so what's so bad about me doing the same?" I dunno.
It's from the phrase 'the pot calling the kettle black.' The marijuana angle kinda makes sense. |
I've been reading some very interesting stuff on Toolnavy. Copied and pasted from Toolnavy:
if 10,000 days is 27 years, and its how long keenans mother was sick... and maynards 42 now.... 42-27 is 15. i think she died about 4 years ago, if so, hed be 11 when he found out she would sick. sure would make 11 stand still. Makes sense to me. Just thought I'd share, so those who don't lurk/post there could see. Also read some interesting stuff on Rosetta Stoned alluding to the Raelian movement. |
I read that as well before the it required me to register, how the heck did everyone else register? I can't seem to use any email to register for those forums.

The song jimmy is based around, supposedly Maynard being 11 and events that took place around that time. The album may have been named 10, 000 Days because of his mothers paralysis. Possibly the paralysis could be a metaphor for what Tool feels the world and mankind is doing about it's problems. *shrug* |
I heard the album... and I really need to listen to it more cause it's really not what i expected, nothing like their old stuff
|
Haha.. I just noticed that on my version of the leak, on Right In Two, at 6:01.. There's a soundclip going "TIMMY!"..
|

Never mind one of the back links still worked so no need in sending me it, thanks.

Whoa, i just checked that out. Odd. |
Seems like a bit of a stretch.
The last part maybe, but if those numbers are true, the fact that Maynards Mother was partially paralysed for 27 years; or 10,000 Days, is quite interesting, don't you think? |

Yeha definitly. I already knew that bit though. |

Holy shit! I almost didn't believe you, but I heard it and it freaked me out. lol Can't wait for the real album now that I know this may be a slightly tampered, and possibly even not fully mastered version? *gasp* |
You gotta admit that it's pretty damned funny.. haha. Gotta love South Park
|
Wow, it actually DOES say "Timmah!!"
Whatever works. :p This album is shaping up to be quite good...still not as good as Lateralus in my eyes, but a close second. |

:lol::lol::lol: I have that too. Haha. |
In one of the new songs (i think Intension) if you play it backwards Maynard says something along the lines of "listen to your mother, your father is right". Its towards the beginning of the song or the end if you reverse it.
|
I read that as well before the it required me to register, how the heck did everyone else register? I can't seem to use any email to register for those forums.
Luckily I had an account from 2004, when I tried to get a new name it wouldn't accept any of my email addresses either. I assumed they had closed registration, but I keep seeing new members...so who knows. In reply to the backward message thing, someone from Toolnavy uploaded that part of the song in reverse so everyone could hear it: http://www.myspace.com/zeitgeistfm Also I don't see how there's any sort of doubt that 10,000 Days is about Maynard's mother. Its unbelivable obvious once you listen and hear the lyrics. He also says something like "pillar of faith ascends" and "pillar of faith" was written on his mom's gravestone. It's just very clear who he is addressing in Wings for Marie and 10,000 Days, I don't see much room for doubt. |
Yeah, and Wings for Marie isn't about his mom.
If you think it's a long stretch, the album name being about his mom's paralysis, then I'd like to hear your more sensical theory. :p Anyways, I still haven't listened to the whole album. (a) |
I was saying that I don't think its a stretch...I was saying that it makes perfect sense.
|
i thought this album would be more political.. vicarious talks about people dying in war or something right
|
Dammit, this cd is incredibly good. At least so far, it hasnt yet get to where Lateralus is for me, but it might get there.
|
I just keep remembering what Lateralus was like when I first got it. I remember thinking "what the hell....?" and I compared it to Aenima alot, insisting that that was still the best.
Eventually, Lateralus became my favorite Tool album. Maybe the same will happen here...*shrug* we'll see. |
That didnt happen with me. I listened to Lateralus and i knew it was my favorite album right away, but i didnt like all the songs in it. Now i like almost every song in it, the only on i skip its Faiip De Oiad and Mantra. Hopefully the new one will reach or top Lateralus.
|
Damn the Pot has some catchy vocal parts.
"SO WATCHU TALKING BOUT?" Haha I love it. |
I remember the first time I listened to Lateralus.
You know how sometimes you look back on things and you realize how life changing their were. Well I knew it was life changing at the time. I'm feeling it all over. It's great. |

I know, I was siding with you. :p EDIT: Wtf, I just realized I lost 200 or so posts! EDIT2: Riva deleted the community thread or something like that. Whatever. |
