Yep, I see you have a Tubular Bells usertitle.
Yep, I see you have a Tubular Bells usertitle.
Indeed. Great album, I think it could be talked about in here.

Broken Arrow 03-03-2005 04:49 PM

Probably.

My friends has this album by a band called Perth County Conspirecy. It was really good. It was made in 1966 and they're a bunch of hippies. Really rare too.

Woodstock 03-03-2005 04:51 PM

I've never heard of it.

My record show on March 13 is drawing ever closer.

Broken Arrow 03-03-2005 04:55 PM

I dont get record shows here.:(

Yeah I think this band is pretty local considering there's a Perth County about half an hour away from where I live.

jpj 03-03-2005 05:02 PM

I want to go to a record show, but I've never heard of one coming around here.

Broken Arrow 03-03-2005 05:30 PM

Oh shi......the flower power station isn't on that ford site. And the Classic Rock station is failing me.

thickasabrick 03-03-2005 05:32 PM

What's a record show all about?

thickasabrick 03-03-2005 06:33 PM

What Who album is Join Together from? And where is everyone? I've had the last post for like an hour now and I know some of you are still online.

magicbus 03-03-2005 06:36 PM

This thread doesn't move as fast as it used to.

Guitar pictures, as promised. http://photobucket.com/albums/v200/rockshowguy56/music%20gear/?action=view&current=100_1780.jpg

There are others on the photobucket too.

MalcolmYoungRock 03-03-2005 06:40 PM

VERY NICE Magicbus.

How much wattage is that amp? 30?

I think my friend has one like that.

thickasabrick 03-03-2005 06:41 PM

How many strats did you try out before you chose that one Magicbus? I desperately want a strat, although there are about twenty at my local guitar store...and I'm not exactly sure which one I want. I tried Fenders 50th anniversary Strat and I really liked it, although the colour was hideous. I other want white, black, or the colour you have (makes me feel like SRV).

edit- What's your AIM Magicbus? I'll send you that song, I'm pretty sure it's the one you want, it's live and it claims to be from One More Car One More Rider.

MalcolmYoungRock 03-03-2005 06:44 PM

I don't like the black and white strat.

It's too generic for me.

But, there's this one color on strats that I absolutly love.

I'll find a pic hang on.

Edit: http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0101400752

But a different color fretboard.

pigonthewing82 03-03-2005 06:48 PM

I have a black Strat with a mirror pick gurd. It looks real cool.

thickasabrick 03-03-2005 06:52 PM

I like black strats like the one David Gilmour and The Edge used to play. I'd like a white one just to make me look like Hendrix.
I prefer Tobacco Sunburst, which is like the one Magicbus has, and sorta like the one MYR posted.

My Black Beauty looks awesome, but it shows fingerprints and dust really well, so I gotta clean it often to keep it looking nice.

magicbus 03-03-2005 06:52 PM

My AIM is rockshowguy56. Thanks :thumb:

I guess the amp is 15 Watts. And I didn't really try out many different strats. I knew I wanted the American, because I was looking for a quality better than the Standard, but I didn't want to pay more than the price of the American. So basically I went with that. I was originally going for an Olympic White strat, but this one I bought was used, and sunburst is very cool too. So I took it.

I mean check this out:
http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0155102880
It looks so pure!

thickasabrick 03-03-2005 06:54 PM

Do you know what kind of pickups your guitar has? If I'm gonna buy an amp, I might change the pickups, I like Tex Mex's, but I've heard DiMarzios (spelling?) sound cool as well.

Olympic White is beautiful, it looks like a virgin.

magicbus 03-03-2005 07:03 PM

The Fender site says American Strats come with 3 American Strat Single-Coil Pickups. So that's probably what I have. They sound great, but I wouldn't mind replacing one just for a little project. Maybe with a Vintage Noiseless pickup like on Clapton's guitar. But right now the pickups sound awesome.
KISS was probably the first hair metal band. Hair metal took the music of a watered-down Led Zeppelin and added the "glam" image.
Kiss wasn't metal

Illmatic 03-03-2005 07:10 PM
Kiss wasn't metal
And neither was hair metal, so it works.

By the way, I was going to quote your old post about listening to Tommy in the womb. I'm 16 and like 7 months, so I've been listening to Tommy since I was 7 months old.

I have to give credit to my parents for playing it for me since then.

I was looking through my dads cds and I found a cd that had Jonny Winter doing a cover of Highway 61 Revisited. It was great.

I've heard that cover, pretty cool. But, then again Johnny Winter is a cool guy.

Dimarzio pickups are nice, but I would recommend getting Lindy Fralins if you plan on replacing your pickups. Lindy Fralins are very high quality pickups, and reasonably priced.

My strat is a cream bodied strat with a cool red pickguard (if anyone has seen the SRV DVD that came with the box set, it looks like that one he played after the string broke on his main guitar.) I have texas specials for all three pickups, but I'm about to replace my bridge with a Lindy Fralin steel pole 43.

What guage strings do you all use? I have 12's on right now, but I might go back down to 11's.

Distant Echoes 03-03-2005 07:59 PM

I have a dire straits greatest hits already, so most the songs are on their from Brother in arms; same goes for the eagles CD.

Im downloading them now. I really need to get an mp3 player to get all this music off my computer.

Johnny B. Good 03-03-2005 08:00 PM

The Dire Straits are pretty awesome, Mark Knopfler is a really good guitarist

magicbus 03-03-2005 08:00 PM

I think my string is an 11. 10's broke to easily. I just have the default American Strat strings on now though.

Yea Winter is the man. I have another cd of him jamming with Hendrix

He's such a great technique player. Everything he does is so smooth, he's definitly one of my favorite guitarists. Plus he's badass with that headband and playing with no pick ;)

He is quite smooth. Sometimes, I find, playing w/out a pick is easier sometimes

lepkin 03-03-2005 08:15 PM

the best part about Mark Knopfler is that sound from his guitar its so original and sounds amazing and mix that with his amazing talent he is a great

Distant Echoes 03-03-2005 08:15 PM

Mark Knopfler is defintaly in my top 10 guitarist. Im planning on learning Sultans of Swing on guitar very soon...but am debating. It may be too much of a challenge for me.
