But Canada's still having a benefit for it evn thought they didn't get hit by one (I'm assuming it's for Asian tsunami victims).

BludgeonySteve 01-13-2005 07:23 PM

Harvest moon is better than harvest in my opinion.

If you live in Canada you can watch the relief concert on cbc :).

It's because America is filled with hearless capitalists who only care about themselves.

Anyone here like the Mahavishnu Orchestra?

Sandtrap 01-13-2005 07:28 PM

what do some of you guys consider classic rock.

A. Something like The beatles/Rolling Stones
B. Something like Van Halen/Guns N Roses
C. Something like Lenard Skinard
D. None Of These

BludgeonySteve 01-13-2005 07:30 PM

I consider all of those bands classic rock.

lunch998 01-13-2005 07:32 PM

The correct answer is E.

jpj 01-13-2005 07:32 PM

The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Van Halen, and it's Lynyrd Skynyrd are all classic rock. I don't really consider G'n'R classic rock.

BludgeonySteve 01-13-2005 07:37 PM

eh, guns n roses is bordering. It's like 80s hard rock which isn't really classic.

Broken Arrow 01-13-2005 07:41 PM

I just got Birds Of Fire and it's great. It takes a second listen for sure though.

jpj 01-13-2005 08:13 PM

I downloaded most of Birds of Fire and it is definitely on the to get list. My list of CD's I want is so big it's overwhelming.

so you liked it. awesome. the inner mounting flame is good as well. not as much soloing as birds but the bands still in top form and you can tell.

Broken Arrow 01-13-2005 09:10 PM

Yeah thats when I was a n00b and Paranoidd was a regular and Voodoo Chile was here.

Anyways what is this Manhavusitsu(sp) Orchestra?

PinkFreud 01-13-2005 09:16 PM

mahavishnu orchestra is like weird jazz fusion with lots of elements of other genres in it. theyre all basically virtuosos on their respective instruments. one of the best guitarists is john mclaughlin, best drummers with billy cobham, and better keyboardists in jan hammer. he did some stuff with jeff beck if that helps at all. i recommend them highly if you like fusiony weird stuff.

thickasabrick 01-13-2005 09:25 PM

PinkFreud you've got a killer name...i wish i thought of that.

i've never heard of Mahavishnu Orchestra (it's a bitch to type though)...i'm gonna see what they have to offer.

in other news...I just got back from work, tonight i taught some students how to play:

Let It Be
House of the Rising Sun
Satisfaction

(is it obvious that none of my students can play songs with more than four chords yet?)

Johnny B. Good 01-13-2005 09:26 PM

did you teach them the solo to let it be?

Woodstock 01-13-2005 09:27 PM

Careful, you might strain their talent.

Johnny B. Good 01-13-2005 09:29 PM

huh?

thickasabrick 01-13-2005 09:34 PM
did you teach them the solo to let it be?
i wish...they have only been playing for a few months and they aren't very good. i do have better students though...although i haven't taught them the Let it Be solo yet. I taught one student Purple Haze the other day, he was pretty happy. Unfortunately, most of my students ask to learn Sum 41, Good Charlotte, Blink 182. (i don't even mind teaching Sum 41, but the other two kill me to teach)

Johnny B. Good 01-13-2005 09:36 PM

That sux. You should burn them CD's of of some good classic rock that doesn't have to hard of guitar playing like the Beatles

BillCosby 01-13-2005 09:38 PM

Yea forcing your music on someone is cool.

Illmatic 01-13-2005 09:38 PM

Ah, good ol' "House of the Rising Sun"...one of the first songs I learned on the guitar.

You should teach them "Wish You Were Here". That's an easy song to learn as well.

Johnny B. Good 01-13-2005 09:43 PM
Yea forcing your music on someone is cool.
I didn't mean just give it to them and demand them to listen to it. I meant recommend someone to them, and then if they are interested give them the CD
That sux. You should burn them CD's of of some good classic rock that doesn't have to hard of guitar playing like the Beatles
haha i already did.

actually, i've got a student who can play Blackbird now..and she's only been playing for a short while. But yea, whether you are crappy or good at guitar...there's a Beatles song for you! :thumb:
