I'm constantly biting the insides of my cheeks. It's a very bad habit I have. :(

Just got back from my friend's house...

He invited me over to play a "gig" (which it really wasn't) he was doing at his camp graduation. It was him (drums), me, and one other guitarist (who was pretty nonexistant). So, we wake up at 7:30...load all our crap into 2 cars, and set off. Usually takes about 25-35 minutes to get to his camp...took an hour. Fucking traffic.

Anyway, we get there, unload all our crap, and set up at the bottom of the stairwell. Some lady comes over who works at his camp, and tells us we'd be better off at the top of the stairs. Move all our crap up. Now we're situated at the top.

He has to go to his presentation, so i get stuck watching the equipment. Anyhoo, he goes to his presentation (which took about a half hour), and comes back. He starts warming up...and half of his double pedal gives out. For some reason, it was so hot, the stuff that held the beater to the foot shaft melted, and nothing would work. So now, he only has a single pedal to work with, which drastically shortens our set list.

Long story short, even though I'm the guitarist and he's the drummer, he ended up playing guitar for most of the songs, and i filled in on drums. He goes back on drums for our last 2 songs (we're playing all mediocre covers that everybody who just learns an instrument plays...), and during the last song, his drum pedal finally becomes unusable. The other half gives out, and we leave the stage (out of like 500 people, only 30 cared about us).

Now we have to reload all the crap (into 1 car this time, mind you), and make the drive back home, and unload it into his house.

Very tiring day...it would have been better, but it was decent nonetheless. Our "manager" (one of the drummer's friends) was quite decent...he kept us supplied with a good stream of cold drinks. :chug:

And now, I'm going to bed. Gnite guys.

It's always good to have experiences with gigs, no matter how they go.

My random new article is up, on Cream.

Man, today was the definition of lukewarm. Every day, there is at least one thing that is at least a bit out of the norm. Today was perhaps one of the most monotonous days of my life.

/small rant

I read the thread Lunch.

Man, I'm going to miss summer. I've been playing guitar and learning songs at an alarming rate. Something like 2 a week. Granted, there aren't the most technical songs, but still, I'm quite exciting with my one year of progress.

Fuck! Yesterday was one my 1 year birthday, and I didn't celebrate it or anything. :upset:

My favorite Anthrax songs are definately Finale and Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind. All I have is State Of Euphoria, though.

Good morning, MX. Going swimming later, because people want me to. Bah.

Lunch 08-05-2005 09:57 AM

Do you have a problem with swimming?

Shattered_Future 08-05-2005 09:59 AM

I love swimming...

I got tickets to Gigantour on the 23rd... :D

Personally, I prefer Dream Theater over Anthrax, but Anthrax would still be unbelievably awesome to see live.

Syncratic 08-05-2005 10:00 AM

I did very little swimming over this summer. My uncle's pool (where I usually go) sprung a leak that they can't find, so we just swim in the deep end, cause the shallow end has no water.

Still fun, though.

Lunch 08-05-2005 10:06 AM

Actually, I haven't been swimming much this summer either. I hardly ever swim in the pools though, it's usually creeks.

They seem to be cooler, as they are in the shade of the woods. I love it.

Lunch 08-05-2005 10:12 AM

Here in Annapolis we're basically surrounded by water, so I tend to use the natural water, especially when boating/tubing etc.

RiceMonster 08-05-2005 10:14 AM

I go swimming all the time, and I don't have air conditioning, so I often go to cool off.

Stoic 08-05-2005 10:29 AM

I havent gone swimming for years although most greek people do so in summer. It's fucking hot in (or on?) the beach and I get too easily tired in the water :(

I have nerver swam in a creek as there are no creeks around.

Our pool has been infested with alge. So haven't been swiming much either.

Drugstep 08-05-2005 10:47 AM

Swimming's great, I just didn't want to have to do it at noon like I said I would. It's noon and it turns out I don't have to yet. If I do go, I probably won't be home in time to make sure no one outbids me in the last minutes of the Tommy auction. :upset:

Endless Obsession 08-05-2005 10:54 AM

I was at the beach yesterday and forgot to put on sunscreen. I cant even lie down it hurts so bad. I took 5 Advil yesterday at once. Bad idea. I felt weightless and all wierd for the rest of the night. At least my back didnt hurt from the sunburn. Its very bad though.

Drugstep 08-05-2005 10:56 AM

Haha you got unintentional advil high (low).

WHenever I get sunburn, I scratch it and it makes a huge scar. Like a black idea that's really crimson and bumpy. It's something I'm known for.

Syncratic 08-05-2005 10:57 AM

Did anyone ever swim while it was raining (no lightning or thunder, just rain)? I was in my uncle's pool and it started to rain. I went underwater, the sounds and the sight of the water was surreal.

Drugstep 08-05-2005 11:00 AM

Unfortunately, no, I haven't, because my cousin has to get out of the pool when there's rain or anything, and, back when I swam the YMCA, it was such a bitch I think I'll put a colon before it:

If it thundered: 15 minutes
Lightning: 20 minutes
Cloud over pool: 5 minutes, no kidding
A kid shit or threw up in the pool, and this actually happened a lot: Closed for the day.

Fuck that place.

It was raining for a little bit at the beach yesterday, but since the waves and the hundreds of people playing around you couldnt hear anything underwater.

I went to Ocean City for five days last month. Bodysurfed (greatest ocean sport) the first two days. A storm hit early the 3rd day (it was part of that major hurricane in Florida) and there were 10-15 waves. Needless to say there wasn't much bodysurfing, a little the fourth day, but not much.
