XTC - Drums and Wires
As per usual. But now I have my very own copy of the CD. |
Dredg's El Cielo is pretty awesome. I always knew about the band, I don't know what took me so long to listen to one of their albums.

Which my grandparents are listening to in the living room right now. |
Yes! Glad somebody agrees. It seems that the general consensus here is that they are good, but nothing more.
I'm diggin' them quite a bit, too. |
Little Man: XTC rule.
Jay Z - Reasonable Doubt
this + Architecture In Helsinki. |
MBV EP's and bootlegs
And loads of other things that don't come to mind right now. |

Indeed they do. They're the best band I've discovered in quite some time. I have Skylarking to look forward to as well. |
Got Elvis Costello & Allen Toussaint's The River in Reverse in the post this morning. I didn't really know what to expect - all I really know about Toussaint is that he's a New Orleans R&B legend, and has worked with a soul singer I've been meaning to check out, Lee Dorsey - so, with the help of his status as Piano Man and a performance on Jools Holland, I was expecting a fairly slow, piano-heavy album that I would like but would take a bit of perseverance to get through the first few times. But I was wrong - this kicks as. The first track kicks off with slow piano, which seemed to confirm my suspicions, but then this howling telecaster comes in with the rest of the band. The most pleasant surprise I've had in a long time. The first five tracks (most of them written by Toussaint, including a couple of covers) are all excellent; after that my level of interest wavers up and down, although the last couple of tracks - especialy "Wonder Woman" - get back to approaching how good the opening quintet was.
So, it's pretty good. Sudden contender for my favourite album this year, at any rate. |

I was listening to The Glow Pt.2 earlier today. Such a great album. |
Dismemberent Plan - Emergency and I (phenomenal album)
Ghosts and Vodka - Addicts and Drunks Action Reaction - 3 Is the Magic Number Method Man and Redman - Blackout |
Lots of Mission of Burma and Voxtrot today (including the latter's latest EP, Your Biggest Fan). Gotta stick with the favorites, you know.
|
Six Organs of Admittance - School of the Flower
Its nice, the music is well thought out, but since I'm not a stoner I can't fully enjoy this. 7.6/10 |
Sarah Blasko - What The Sea Wants, The Sea Will Have
So good. Probably my 6th or 7th favourite of the year so far. |
Sigur Rós.

Mindblowing album. Been listening to EPMD, Boogie Down Productions, Big Pun & D.I.T.C on the morning of my day off. Lovin' it. |

The Comsat Angels - Sleep No More
Powerful record, I'm surprised I'm just now hearing this. Post-punk was an amazingly consistent time/genre for music. |
