Does anyone want a link to the new Children of Bodom song? I'm uploading it now for someone anyway.
|
Awesome! You should enter some comps or something. I'm sure there's more people here that are interested in hearing you sing.
Street magic, pretty awesome. :thumb:
I don't have any training is the thing, nor do I have proper recording equipment. |
I know someone who talks exactly like that.
Needless to say, he doesn't have [m]any friends.
New user name? NP: Seu Jorge - Starman |
Some power metal, some classic metal, a little punk. I think I actually do a very stirring version of Believe by Savatage.
I sing anything and everything I can. I'm doing vocals for the Tool cover competition even though they need some touch ups. I like singing Deftones because my voice is kind of like Chino's and same for Mudvayne. I have way better dirty vocals though. I like doing death growls on the way to anywhere I'm going. Also about training, I usually just use free lessons online. Even here. |
New user name?
New user name. I was getting sick of the length of my old one. |
I don't have any training is the thing, nor do I have proper recording equipment.
Yeah, I know how that is. We had a sucky microphone on the ground, and went through one horrible recording program until we rerecorded twice and found a good one. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=41Q03WA2 Nobody answered, here is is anyways. :D /fangirl Random Upload: In Your Face - Children of Bodom |

As a singer, I'd say my biggest influences are Jon Oliva, Glenn Danzig, and Matt Barlow. Jon Oliva makes quick transitions from clean to dirty easily and has a very melodramatic style. Danzig is the world's only metal crooner and I love that way it gives him such a ghoulish tone. And Matt Barlow has superb range and sustain. His ability versatility of style is also admirable, one I try to emulate. |
The lessons on the site are actually pretty good.

Any ones in particular I should know about? |
I don't have any training is the thing, nor do I have proper recording equipment.
I have proper recording equipment, but I think I need lessons. Badly. ------------------- So, I watched White Chicks last night, and I have discovered the Hollywood formula! Basically, men dressing up as women is comedy gold! But it's more than just that... Tootsie/Mrs. Doubtfire featured one white guy, dressing up as a white girl. But, if one cross-dressing white guy is funny, 3 cross-dressing white guys is hilarious. However, black guys are mathematically 5 times as funny as white guys, due to their outrageous antics and ability to use slang. Hence we get Big Momma's House, which features one black guy dressing up as a black girl. Hilarity presumably ensues. Then a producer-genius in Hollywood hit the big time. If one black guy dressing up as a black girl was hilarious, then two black guys dressing up as white girls must be the funniest thing this side of Monty Python! And thus, the amazing movie of White Girls was born. Next we can only predict what will happen, now that the trans-race wall has been breached. I can only predict that we will get a black and a white guy dressing up as Asian women in Geisha Guys: Undercover. |
Movie rant
It wasn't that bad a movie, I saw it a few weeks ago. It had its moments. Besides, almost all Hollwood humor is inane like that. :) |

There's a thread in the Jam sessions thread dedicated to vocals somewhere I'll post a link. Heh, I was looking all over for it and it was stickied at the top of the page. http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=370155 |
Nice.
Just imagine the dialogue. Random scene: (White Guy = WG. Black Guy = BG) WG: This guy wants me to blow him! What's this all about? BG: Damn, nigga, you don't know whatta Geisha is? Fo' real! WG: My only experience with Geisha's is playing Shogun: Total War back in High School. BG: Damn nigga! While you was in rich-boy high, I was selling dope to dumbarse crackas. Fo' real! -------------------------------- And of course, the inevitable ending. WG: Wow, I'm so glad we got out of that exploding warehouse alive! BG: Ya know, I really 'spect yo booksmarts and honour! WG: And I have come to admire your streetsmarts and skills at stealing cars. BG: I think we've all learned a lesson here, nigga. Fo' real! WG: Let's share a strictly heterosexual hug. ----------
Ever seen Bamboozled? /kind of related question.
No, I haven't. Good, bad? |
Lovely. Absolutely lovely.
It hurts when I laugh. Thanks, Jason! |
Also if you're still here Cipher Hour:
The technique Maynard uses to scream in Ticks and Leeches is the wrong way to do it. |

No, I haven't. Good, bad?
It's really good. It's a Spike Lee movie about a black writer (played by Damon Wayans) at a TV network who keeps pitching ideas for a TV show that is a "Cosby Show"-like take on a black family, but he keeps getting rejected. Frustrated out of his mind, he pitches a new idea out of protest: A minstrel show where all the white actors are in black face and all the black actors are in black-er face. To his surprise, it's greenlighted and becomes a hit, and all the people the black writer knows call him a traitor, and so on. Some people were annoyed by it, but I thought it was really well done. I dunno, your comment on black actors in whiteface and asianface (if that makes sense) made me think about that. |
I think I have seen this somewhere before *cough* maddox *cough*
Nah, Maddox's was a lot more homosexual. And I didn't even think of him when I wrote this, anyway. |

A drama, but it has a few jokes here and there. Spike's not really a comedy guy, though. |

If its Damon its a comedy. |
Also, Alex.

Like I said, it is a drama. Haven't you heard of Spike Lee? The guy does not do comedies. |

That's what confused me. I've never associated Spike with comedies, but I've never associated Damon with drama. :p |
Comic actors sometimes take non-comedic roles. It happens.

Need rest, more cough drops and good music. Ciao |
Picture this:
An instrumentally-driven, alternative pop band with harsh vocals, blast beats and a raw sound. Picture a hard, melodic jig-like quality to the music. That's right, you are experiencing The Forsaken Running Wild Hotel Friendship of the Freezing ****ed Society. The world's first Pirate Indie Black Metal band. It's founding members, Jason "Riva" and Jonny "Medopalis" welcome you to the new revolution! So Alex have you been checking out the lessons yet?
|
I've been going through them piece by piece. Just another few exercises I have to add to my daily schedule.
|
So I have got a new avatar . It is Omar from At The Drive-In and The Mars Volta, I change my avatar too much :upset:
|
Yeah, I recognised him as Omar, even though I don't listen to either of those bands.
I'm keeping to this avatar for as long as possible. NP - Pink Floyd - Run Like Hell............It seems like a bad idea to listen to this after my psychotic Wall-inspired nightmare, but it's a cool song. |
Crap. I just bit my cheek again.
For some reason, all my teeth from the canines back are sharp. Very sharp. If it weren't for my regular-shaped incisors, I'd look very much like I was turning into a wolf. Well... more so than I already do. |
When I bite my cheek, I'm usually just upset for like five seconds.
Whenever I bite my tongue, I chekc for blood, out of habit, and only one time did blood go everywhere. That was cool. It was wierd though. |
