Have you seen Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas?

'Cause if you haven't, you need to.

Good movie.

Little Man being Erased 05-15-2006 08:00 PM

Great book too.

Kurtz 05-15-2006 09:26 PM

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

BillCosby 05-15-2006 09:28 PM

I forget if it was in here or the Diggin' thread but YDload posted that Girl Talk stuff that samples a million different pop songs and it kicks ***. It inspired me to make my own sampling extravaganza (read: rip off Girl Talk):

"eva since"

it samples:

x-wife - "ping pong"
three six mafia - "poppin' my collar"
black eyed peas - "like that"
b-52s - "rock lobster"
snoop dogg - "ups and downs"
brazilian girls - "don't stop"
jamie lidell - "when i come back around"
the beatles - "michelle"
built to spill - "goin' against your mind"
the unicorns - "2014"
deltron 3030 - "virus"
devendra banhart - "heard somebody say"
metric - "calculation theme"
metric - "combat baby"
tv on the radio - "wolf like me"
gnarls barkley - "crazy"

Little Man being Erased 05-15-2006 09:35 PM

That's pretty cool Billy.

I haven't heard this Girl Talk business yet, but I'm interested.

There's also another song "hold up" up for download on a different site, illegalart i think.

Nice. That's some pretty awesome stuff right there yeah.
Yea, I thought it was great.

I decided I need to see more movies, so any suggestions you have, throw them my way.

Seriously, I only ever watch stupid comedies, so suggest anything. Anyone.
I'll give you some of my favourites from each genre.

Comedy
Annie Hall, Adaptation, Lost in Translation

Drama
Magnolia, All The Real Girls, Interiors, It's A Wonderful Life, Dancer In The Dark (stars Bjork)

Horror
The Shining, Rosemary's Baby, Night of the Living Dead

War
Platoon, Apocalyspe Now, Schindler's List

Action
The Seven Samurai, A History of Violence (maybe more of a drama, eh)

"Classics"
Citizen Kane, Rear Window, Casablanca

Those are just a few suggestions of some good films that you might like.

Annoyance 05-16-2006 12:33 AM

^^^^^^^^^^^
Those are all good movies right there. Some more I'd add are.

If you need a laugh.

The Big Lebowski, Heathers, Ghost World, Fargo

My personal favourite type of films are thrillers. For that I'd suggest:

Red Rock West, Blue Velvet, Memento, The Machinist, Insomnia.

br3ad_man 05-16-2006 01:11 AM

From what I've seen, those are all great picks. Ghost World is amazing.

Little Man being Erased 05-16-2006 01:33 AM

Fargo and The Big Lebowski are both so awesome. The Coen Brothers rule.

Zorg 05-16-2006 01:37 AM

Repo Man is my favourite movie.

br3ad_man 05-16-2006 02:22 AM
Fargo and The Big Lebowski are both so awesome. The Coen Brothers rule.
Fargo and The Man Who Wasn't There are the coolest I think.

Glitterati 05-16-2006 09:53 AM
Repo Man is my favourite movie.
That's an awesome movie. It's so weird, but I love it. Great soundtrack, too.

If you like the Coens, check out Miller's Crossing. It's got Albert Finney, John Turturro, and Gabriel Byrne, and it's their take on a '30s gangster film.

Zmev 05-16-2006 12:19 PM

I dig Kevin Smith films, man.

dei 05-16-2006 12:29 PM

Even Jersey Girl?

Little Man being Erased 05-16-2006 02:47 PM
Fargo and The Man Who Wasn't There are the coolest I think.
No man, it's called The Big Lebowski.
I dig Kevin Smith films, man.
Clerks was pretty good, and I have a soft spot for Mallrats, but the rest = meh.

br3ad_man 05-16-2006 03:53 PM
No man, it's called The Big Lebowski.
I dunno man. It's just not as funny the second time.

Little Man being Erased 05-16-2006 03:55 PM

But it's hilarious the 9th time.

Little Man being Erased 05-16-2006 04:16 PM

It starts going downhill around about the 14th time. But, oh man, just wait until you get up to the 21st watch. Even funnier than the 9th time.

Kurtz 05-16-2006 04:37 PM

The Godfather is the best movie I've ever seen.

Watch that too.

The 17th was my personal favorite.

We watched Forrest Gump today in class. Good times.

Oh my god it's beautiful out today. I even rode my bike to school to help the ecosystem or whatever.

BillCosby 05-16-2006 06:56 PM

I've been watching those every monday through thursday for I don't know how long. It's the only television I watch.

JonM 05-16-2006 07:28 PM

I'm finally done. I wrote a 20 page paper today, my last final. Working from home isn't easy.

Kurtz 05-16-2006 07:31 PM

the colbert report is the best new show on tv

Little Man being Erased 05-16-2006 08:25 PM

Robert Crumb 05-16-2006 08:44 PM
But it's hilarious the 9th time.
Oh man, I've only seen it 3 times. That must explain things!

I've been sick all week and I finally get to take a day off tomorrow. I just napped while listening to Dark Side of the Moon. Good times.

My phone stopped working about a few weeks ago, so I brought it in to get it repaired since we have a warranty. Basically, my screen gets all distorted and I can't see anything.

So, they sent it away, I waited 2 weeks, and went and picked it up. I powered it up and they hadn't even repaired it. The report said "phone checks out fine."

I decided to go to another Radio Shack, hoping that it was only the people at that store who were morons. I sent it away for another 2 and a half weeks, and went to pick it up last night.

Now the phone won't even turn on.

Kyle 05-17-2006 08:50 AM

So the Yeah Yeah Yeahs were acually really good last night. I just couldn't take my eyes off Karen O all night, she's amazing.
