there's a pretty neat Youtube video of ATDI doing "198d" live for some Australian TV show.

i also discovered another similarity between ATDI and Bear Vs. Shark. their best songs (or just my favorites) use almost the same chords and both have big dynamics too (198d and Kylie respectively)

hmm

1 Blonde Redhead 52
2 The Olivia Tremor Control 18
3 Smog 12
4 Rites of Spring 11
5 Eric B. & Rakim 10
5 Yo La Tengo 10
7 Hell Town Trio 9
8 Cocteau Twins 7
8 Bill Evans 7
10 Serge Gainsbourg 5

Obsessed with Blonde Redhead lately. Love the new album and Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons especially. OTC was room-cleaning music. Smog was a first listen, a record I could either get into if I give it more of a chance, or that I could just forget about it. It was basically mildly intriguing. Rites of Spring are always good. Eric B. is on the cut. Yo La Tengo is cool but I don't know them that well yet. Hell Town Trio is a local band that rules. Cocteau Twins didn't hit me as much as they used to this week. Bill Evans is still probably my favorite pianist. The appeal of Serge still eludes me.

Anxious 05-07-2007 12:16 AM

Misery is a Butterfly is Blonde Redhead's best album.

Thanks 05-07-2007 12:17 AM

So far I disagree with that. I like it better than In Expression of the Inexpressible, but the other two I've heard (and mentioned in the last post) I think are much, much better.

Anxious 05-07-2007 12:26 AM

Technically they might be "better" albums in terms of variety and overall creativity, but I'm a sucker for minor key melodys being labored out with no end in sight. And for that, Misery is a Butterfly is perfect.

break / grind / glitch - core

Dataclast - Drum Machine Gun

9 songs (but i dont think the first one is actually a part of the rest of the album)

each under 1 minute. each 100% dope. all in all, 4 and a half minutes of break/grind with growling / screaming vocals so if you dont think youd like that yeah skip it

http://www.mediafire.com/?coj2xniujgh

edit yea its a different artist and i dont like it as much but meh
