Silly drummer.

Broken Arrow 03-02-2005 05:11 PM

I dont mind people who play 6 six strings. I just hate the way they look. So chunky and just not right.

Like I have a picture Of Phil Lesh that I was going to put on my wall but he had a 6er so I ended up not putting him up.

I'm a guitarist and I know there is no such thing as a "Silly drummer." There may be such a thing as a STUPID drummer however.

...

I'm just kidding all you drummers!!!:thumb:

Why do you hate the way they look?? Why do you think they dont look right?? It makes no sense!

You.

Broken Arrow 03-02-2005 05:44 PM

Do, you mean a 6er as in a guitar or as in a 6 string bass? Because you clearly stated you were a guitarist so you may be misunderstanding this whole thing.

MalcolmYoungRock 03-02-2005 05:49 PM

He means a bass.

I wouldn't call a guitar a 6er.

I would call it a guitar.

I only would call it a 12 string if it had 12 strings.

Well, that's what normal people would say. But this guy isn't all normal.

MalcolmYoungRock 03-02-2005 06:03 PM

Yeah, clearly where it says "CLASSIC ROCK GUITARIST!"

That makes sense now.

Walrus Gumboot 03-02-2005 06:08 PM
It'd would most likely be very difficult for you to find lessons, the sheet music is different, more difficult and very hard to come by. And lesson are needed.
Yes, but it would be worth it. Oh yes.

I was at a band concert yesterday (school band), and some kid pulled out his guitar and started playing the dreaded guitar song. (Stairway To Heaven)

Why is musical ignorance so widespread?

People want to play songs that everybody has heard so that they sound cool. Honestly I love Hendrix but I will always be more impressed by people playing SRV.

Was it an act of rebellion or did the band teacher let him?

I'd like to reference the sign in Wayne's World.

I need to find that.

"No Stairway To Heaven? Bummer."

It would be great if you had that sign, and when he started playing it you just held it up and pointed to it.

My brother was reading a list of songs not to play when you go to try a guitar at a music store. The only ones I remember were Stairway and Smoke on the Water.

You forgot Iron Man and Smells Like Teen Spirit.
You forgot Iron Man and Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Those would be two of the other ones, definitely.

Walrus Gumboot 03-02-2005 07:42 PM

For a while I was considering putting one on the entrance to the stairway in sophmore hallway where they always had guitars so I could be like "No Stairway, Denied!?", but the guitarists have since been replaced by hackey-sack players (The next big olympic sport)

pigonthewing82 03-02-2005 07:48 PM

You know I wouldn't mind hearing the Stairway solo, if they just added some originality to it. I mean of course I'm so impressed when you can mimick one of the most overdone overrated solos of all time note for note.

I mostly only hear the intro, and then proceed to stab myself in the ear.

magicbus 03-02-2005 07:50 PM

Hey dudes. I'm doing a presentation on mythological influence in classic rock, and I need some ideas for songs that are based off of myths. For example:

Cream - Tales of Brave Ulysses
Led Zeppelin - Achilles' Last Stand
Pink Floyd - Sysyphus pts.1-4

Any ideas?

Immigrent song

and Yer Blues by the Beatles, only one line though.

Seems like he's mostly looking for Greek Mythology.

magicbus 03-02-2005 07:57 PM
Immigrant song
Didn't think of that. Good call :thumb:

Yea, the class is mostly Greek, but we've mentioned Norse stuff before.

Then you could use No Quarter, too.

We actually quoted Tales of Brave Ulysses in a report.

It was funny because my friend put it in his works cited and cited it at the end of the sentence and everything.

"And Odysseus's 'naked ears were tortured, by the sirens sweetly singing'" (Clapton, Bruce, Baker)

Like that

pigonthewing82 03-02-2005 08:02 PM

You know if you don't mind bullshiting your work you could strech your presentation by playing clips from Pink Floyd's Live in Pompii.

Those are the only lyrics in the song that make any sense. All others talk about purple fishes and mermaids. I can almost feel the LSD coming off that song.

Yea, he mentions Thor in there somewhere.

Walrus Gumboot 03-02-2005 08:09 PM

I sort of remeber a Queen song with some rreference to mythology, but I cant remember what exactly

lunch998 03-02-2005 08:13 PM

I've been listening to a lot of Tommy recently.

/doesn't connect with Mythology
