Live at Leeds is the greatest Who album ever. I'm such a latecomer to this wonderful orgasm!

This version of I Can't Explain is so far better than anything else.

Dragon_Prince 05-30-2007 03:36 PM

Does anyone know the setlist that goes around this set of the tour.

JohnXDoesn't 06-01-2007 04:04 PM

i don't know it but i know they have added some quad tunes after dropping them because of rogers voice. nothing radical, just the typical: 5:15, Drowned, The Real Me, etc. you ought to hear two or three quad tunes. i read on their site that they are making a few changes. i'll keep the thread updated. also i saw a clip of recent performance by the band and they sound great. the warm up gigs were just that with moments, the first couple legs of the north american tour were a bit shaky with all the new stuff, but all the players sound as if they have hit their stride now. ought to be great shows.

poor rog, 'tho :(

oh, and 4 the love of god, wtf?

i like it, 'tho

Love the Who, really great band. Amazing live show as well. Favorite albums are Who's Next, Quad., and The Who By Numbers. Some people may hate me for this but I feel that Tommy is painfully overrated. Just saw this thread, so wanted to give my quick view on the band.

JohnXDoesn't 06-01-2007 09:05 PM

thanks for posting. this is one of the best who threads on the internets imo. not as active as it once was on account of something weird, i think. seems when they weren't as active or just touring without new stuff we had a lot to say. but with the new band and tour and john's death and everything they are still writing their history so their old history is somehow changed. so what to say now?

they r definitely a different band. it really is rog and pete now. and rog really struggles. i still have mixed feelings about what they are now and don't quite understand it. perhaps it will come to me with age? prolly will....

anyway i too think tommy is somewhat overrated. not their best but many will disagree. it never clicked for me, even live. i like many of its moments on their own. but as concept or rock opera or whatever, its somewhat lost on me.

Thanks for the welcome. I to, have mixed feelings about Roger and Pete still touring, but its all good. I still like watching their live performances nowadays. And yeah, this thread used to be a lot more active. I used to browse this site, long before I ever joined and remember reading some cool things in this thread. So yeah, looking forward to discussing the Who with everyone here:)

wanderer 06-02-2007 12:24 AM

Personally I think Who should have pack it in and Townshend do total solo record/tour. Would have been way better shows. Perhaps that will happen. You might even get occasionally some variety/interesting surprising (which will not happen with Who) songs like 'I Can't Reach You' which Pete played second time this week during "In The Attic" Show. You can find download link in Who newsgroup.

Pete being so poppy and catchy its hurts, brilliant...

Seafroggys 06-02-2007 12:52 AM

I didn't inform any in this thread, but last Sunday I finally bought LIve at Leeds (the 2 disc version) and I have declared it the second best album of all time (now better than Tommy). Can't Explain, Heaven and Hell, My Generation, et. al. are so ****ing amazing. And of course See me Feel Me is always the greatest.

If the Who came around again to Oregon, I'll go again. They may be better this time around, as JxD is saying.

Also, I'm not too sure anybody is aware of this, but there's this cool website called http://www.lifehouse-method.com/index.html that creates a song based on information you input it (based on Pete's original concept). A clip of your voice, a picture, a sound file, and a rhythm are the items you need and it spits out a 4-6 minute Baba-isque track. You are allowed to do 3. I've done two and they're quite interesting, I'll post the links.

just want to remind those who are going to a show that a ticket purchase automatically gains you basic membership to thewhotour.com. its a great site and they have some good stuff on the media player there. right now i'm watching a bootleg of a gig from 2000 when they played florida. and it is a GREAT gig.

you have to sign up with a credit or debit card and if you don't cancel before your first year is up they will automatically bill your card for the next. but once signed up you can cancel that option immediately. i signed up last september and just canceled mine today so i won't be billed come this september. no problem whatsoever.

they're playing gettin' in tune :smoke:

john was fantastic....

and thanks for that, 'froggys. ima check it out

EDIT: ooh, now naked eye :chug:

Seafroggys 06-03-2007 12:21 AM

I really wish I liked them earlier, may have been able to catch them in 2000.

Then again, if I could time travel, might as well go back to 1970.

wanderer 06-03-2007 12:43 PM

thewhotour.com is a complete scam...

Also you can find from Who newsgroup a video download of Pete playing 'I Can't Reach' during from In The attic show this week....

wanderer stfu, plz. how is it a scam? i have never been scammed there.

great stuff guys, thanks.

pete and rog are still rocking on. you know this thread isn't very active anymore but i'm gonna do some posting in it and see if i can't bring it up a little.

the return of The Who was sort of this threads climax, i think? and the return was somewhat bittersweet for me. i liked reading the old stories, listening to the old music, and knowing where The Who ended. and understanding that end. the old legend. now we have this whole pete & roger thing to consider. well i've considered it long enough!

i'm taking my Who back :(

I like Endless Wire.

Seafroggys 08-19-2007 11:05 PM

Well I finally paid my dues and finally bought "The Kids are Alright." I rented it from the library twice about two years ago, but I'm sick and tired of watching WGFA and See Me Feel Me on crappy youtube. It was cheap and an impulse buy, about $8.
