Sunn0))) meh.
Earth :) |
Look well at this post, this man speaks the truth.
Funeral doom has a more organic and emotional feel, while drone is more mechanic and devoid of emotion, it really beats any emotion out of your skull. Both are great though.
Lately been listening to alot of Funeral doom and I really like it. Ahab is one of my favorite albums at the moment. Downloading Earth 2 NP: Weedeater - Monkey Junction |
Ahab is so good.
|
did i post in the wrong place? im sure someone uploaded the zebulon pike album here but everyone just continued their conversation like i was a damn crazy fool
|
The Zebulon album is some of the best stuff I've heard lately.
|
I think I'm going to check out Ahab. Best album?
|
I know, there wasnt much feedback on it, huh?
|
I'm still in love with Hope at the moment, to be perfectly honest.
|

i cant remember whether it was me or not. but yeah, that **** is nice. i like it better than drone, at any rate. |
I think I'm going to check out Ahab. Best album?
Call of the wretched sea, which is actually their only full length. |
Lately been listening to alot of Funeral doom and I really like it. Ahab is one of my favorite albums at the moment.
Downloading Earth 2 NP: Weedeater - Monkey Junction
Ahab. \m/ EARTH. \m/ Weedeater. \m/ All great stuff. :D ANd indeed, Call Of The Wrecthed Sea is the only full length album. The also have a demo with 2 songs from the album, another song that doesn't appear on the album and an outro. |
I need to get my hands on some Earth material.
|
Start with EARTH II Special Low Frequency Version.
:) |
K, ill look for it later. I'm expecting it to be good.
|
Expect it to be low.
It's far different from Sunn O)) if you're familair with them. |
Yeah, i like Sunn O)))
|
Wow I was about to ask for Earth recommendations.
Coincidence... Or something far more sinister? |
I'm listening to Teeth of Lions rule the Divine and I'm not as turned off by it as the few times I tried Sunn0)). It's still a challenging listen though. The thing I miss most is any form of drumms.
|
It has a lighter feel then Sunn O))), not as suffocating and dark as Sunn O)))
Speaking of your np, Johan. Teeth Of The Lions Rule The Divine is a great band too, also featuring O'Malley and Anderson. np: stoner. |
I'm downloading that album too because of Lee Dorrian being involved.
|
He's great on the album.
but then gain, he's always good. :p |
Damn it. Somebody at work told me Weedeater are touring, but I checked their site and he was lying.
|
:(
That sucks. I'd bet it'd be great to see them live. Are you enjoying them? :) |
Lee Dorrian is my hero.
|

It was a while ago. "Feel Bad Hit of the Winter" is an awesome song name though. I've been listening to a lot Jesu recently |
Feel Bad hit of the Winter is indeed anawesome title.
I enjoy Jesu every once in a while, but it gets boring somehow. :( I can't listen to more then 1 CD by him in a week or so. I'd love seeing him live though. np: Wormphegm - Return Of The Ice Age And The Tortyant |
It would be cool to see him live.
anyone heard his other project Final? Its just him with guitar and programming I think, I was wondering if it was good. |
Never heard of that.
Sounds very minimalist to me. And I don't like programmed drums, so I bet I won't like it. |
I don't think its drums, just that keyboardy sounding stuff. I could be wrong though.
|
That makes a whole lot difference.
:) Now I might actually like it. :-P I love the synth sound on Jesu. |
I downloaded Alpha and Omega by Penence and I got my hands on The Ethereal Mirror by Cathedral. I like at first listen though they are more rock than I was expecting. After a few months of slow Ahab stuff I need to adjust my definition of doom a bit I think.
|
Ahab. \m/
I know what you mean, if I listen to some trad doom at times I wonder: 'Is this even slow?' Dammit, I want to get my hands of the Comatose Vigil EP, but I can't find it anywhere. :( I'm now listening to Saturnus - Veronika Decides To Die, after seeing them a few months back. Excellent doom/death from Denmark. Certainly recommended. Although I do not always find the vocals that fitting, he would be mad awesome in a brutal death metal band, but he does a fine job here too. np: Descending |
Trad doom is the best doom.
/runs |
NP: Ahab - Below the sun
I've been listening to a lot more traditional doom since starting out with Ahab. Reverend Bizarre, Cathedral and MDB have been getting alot more listens the last few weeks. |
I enjoy all sorts of doom actually.
Really depends on my mood. |
I can enjoy trad doom any time, but for funeral I have to be in a certain mood.
|
I downloaded Alpha and Omega by Penance
That's a fantastic album. I prefer SpiritualNatural personally but any Penance is great. Butch Ballich is probably my favourite metal vocalist (with the obvious RJD exception)
After a few months of slow Ahab stuff I need to adjust my definition of doom a bit I think.
Quite. |
I can enjoy trad doom any time, but for funeral I have to be in a certain mood.
I find it's the opposite for me. But I prefer the non-clean vocals over clean so... |
I can listen to doom (any type) quite a lot.
|
I'm still not sure about the difference between funeral and regular doom
