I can see how a lot of people wouldn't like F1. Its motorsport afterall, and very pretentious in nature. lol.

Im not much of a fan of this soccer thing thats going on myself. I prefer a 'car' that has had $300,000,000 in R&D put in over the course of a short offseason to a leather black and white ball.

To each his own, i suppose. :chug:

Abu-Abu 06-22-2006 02:36 PM

Used666 I just saw that post and IMed you the link and number.

I went to a kart race or w/e it's called a few years ago with a friend, got michael andrettis signature too. Never been a big fan, but he offered for me to come, so why not.
F1 car wrecks ARE the friggin best i must say.
But they hadly ever happen.

I know temas don't want their million quid cars wrecked each time but there isn't any leaway in the sport to even see some genuine wheel to wheel racing. For that reason alone I'd rank Nascar or Indy ahead of it.

Its just going to get worse in that respect too, with the new aero rules that are on the table. The cars get very very nervous when they get up close to another, and a good 3/4 of the tracks they race at now aren't that great for overtaking.

China is good new track, and the Japanese GP moving back to Fuji is nice.

i guess i could understand that. The fact of the matter remains that the best drivers in the world all race F1, and i think that should be mentioned.

I personally hate fukking TV. Im merely argueing the other side of the coin

j_p 06-22-2006 02:45 PM

The people working in the pit get killed more often than the actual drivers.

kurrpt 06-22-2006 02:46 PM

yea, but they make them all wear helmets now

:upset:

I turned on and it was 1-0 japan. I was all excited aswell. Even a draw would be nice.

Either way they haven't been playing amazingly, and argentina have.

I miss Micheal owen :(

overturned 06-22-2006 02:46 PM

Thats all relative, I mean, you could say the best drivers in the world race F1, but then would Michael Schumacher be able to run a WRC or touring car as well as he could drive an F1 car? Probably not.

The way an F1 driver drives as noted before due to rules is far different from many other motorsport varieties. You can't just come out and say the best drivers drive F1.

kurrpt 06-22-2006 02:52 PM

sure you could, based on the way they made it through the ranks, and their rankings, as well as their salary.

Sure, you could say the arguement is subjective, but considering they are the highest paid athletes, i think that makes for a strong arguement

Yashnaheen 06-22-2006 02:54 PM

Its relatively relative. haha..

Mikey Schumacher for example wouldn't dominate a touring car series right off, thats just not how he drives. He will still find the proper line better than most, load the suspension just right and all that.

Someone like Jensen Button on the other hand, his driving style actually suits a touring car more than a F1 car.

But you also see drivers like Mika going back to touring cars, Franck Montagny driving in LeMans, and doing better than most of the pack that has been driving these style of cars for far longer. The general skillset is higher in the F1 ranks. The fame, money, status, etc draw the best. F1 teams demand the best, even the likes of a Midland F1 or Super Aguri.

overturned 06-22-2006 02:56 PM

they went from karts to F3? i think thats right.

Thats hardly through the ranks. Its just one variation of motorsport.

And highest paid is a crap reason, they are paid highly because it is the biggest advertising channel in sport, more advertising goes into F1 than any other motorsport.

You're not gonna give a driver who has not only the manufacturer and tuning groups on his shoulders but also the car sponsors and event sponsors, minimum wage, he just wont perfom.

kurrpt 06-22-2006 03:05 PM

wow this thread is dying

so I was just at Long&McQuade, and I tryed a bunch of little traynor tube combos

the verdict: they would be awesome if only they added a third, high gain channel. the gain wasn't cutting it. I had it all the way up and I'm like wtf? is that all it's got? and the guy's like yeah, you'd need a pedal to play metal and I'm like wtf? that rhymes? I don't wanna have to buy a pedal too?

and they seemed a little quiet tbh

Wtf Crowley 06-22-2006 07:29 PM
