I think the only band I can't get tired of is Opeth. I don't get tired of most Jazz either.
i havent really gotten tired of metallica or cob...yet |
Funny - I get tired of Opeth after listening to the first two minutes of one song. I thought they got VERY repetitive after a while. :) I guess you and me have different tastes.
Haha, I guess you have to really like their kind of music. |
I've been listening to them for quite a while now. :) If they get repetitive after a while then it must take longer for me.

It's not that I don't like their music, I just have the same problem with them that I do with most every progressive band. They take a good sound and stretch it out WAY WAY WAAAAAAAAYYYY too long. I have Orchid, for instance. I love In Mist She Was Standing...for the first few minutes. They just stretch it out and repeat too much for my taste. I'd still place Opeth on a higher level than most progressive. Can't get enough of their acoustic stuff. :) EDIT: I rather do enjoy Deliverence, though. |
There has to be at least one song out there you like by them. They have a very varied set of songs.
EDIT: To the other guy. |
Opeth...it depends on what song I listen to.
If i listen to stuff off of Blackwater Park, Damnation, or Morningrise, i can usually listen to the whole song. If it's off of Orchid, its kinda long and repetitive... |

I could too, if there's enough variety. Most Opeth I've heard has the same riffs repeated over and over. Maybe I just need to check out more Opeth. I've heard great things about Morningrise and My Arms, Your Hearse, but I've never heard it. |
Do you have Blackwater Park? That's a great album by them...
Morningrise is good, but not as cracked up as everybody says it is. It really sounds like the band just wrote a lot of random (though superb) riffs and mashed them together to form a song. Haven't heard MAYH, so can't comment on that... |
MAYH is their best.
|
I don't have Blackwater Park. I had it downloaded for a while, but I never listened to it and just deleted it after a while.
Which album has Black Rose Immortal? I've heard it's the most amazing song in the history of the world. |

Morningrise.
It really ISN'T the greatest song ever...parts of it are superb, but on the whole, the song really sounds like a compilation effort. It's a bunch of riffs smashed together to form a song...once a riff is played, it's never played again in the song. That's part of the reason why I turn away from some Opeth...not enough repetition. A lot of repetition is horrible, but so is almost none. There has to be a little to really hold my interest. |
I'll give them another try. The stuff on Orchid impressed me but some of their newer material (which I haven't heard much of) just left me bored and unenthusiastic.
/downloads And, S_F, I get what you mean about repetition. Too much makes a song very boring, but next to none makes a song very unpredictable and random. More like they took ideas for several songs and threw them all into one single track. |
Ok since everyone always talks about it I got soulseek but idk what i'm doing someone wanna clue me in?

What do you need help with? Click on "Search Files", type in what you're looking for. When the files you want pop up in the window below, click on them to download. They'll be monitored int he "Transfers" tab. |
I always hear people talking about getting an album from someone or something though, do you download stuff from a peticular person sometimes?
|
You're always downloading from a particular person. Are you new to P2P programs? When you download things, they are being uploaded from another user somewhere who has the same files. If you're looking to get files from someone specific, add their username to the "Users" list to the right. You can browse their files and send private messages to them from there.

No i've been a p2p person for a long time, but everyone makes a big deal out of Soulseek they made it out to be different than other p2ps. I don't see the big deal now though, Limewire gets the job done fine.
|
It's no different than any other p2p program. This one is just great for metal.

SoulSeek is much faster, has more stuff, and is spyware free. That's why I converted. |
I got every single Norther song in existence on Limewire, I don't see why you'd need Soulseek, plus it keeps freezing my computer.
|
plus it keeps freezing my computer.
That would be a problem with your computer. I've used slsk for over a year and it's been nothing short of amazing for me. |
My computer is terrible anything will freeze it...
|

That's why I converted.
I also like how much easier it is to get one album at a time, instead of getting song a time. Soulseek is awesome. |

Soulseek is awesome.
Yeah, I love that. Everyone has full albums basically on there. |
Soulseek not for Mac... :upset:
Probably better anyway...i would totally abuse that program. |
No one talks about Children of Bodom anymore, this is now the Hatecrew community thread.

That is kinda true. Here I'll talk about Children of Bodom. I think alot of the names of the new songs off the new album thats coming out are stupid. |
I agree, and ever since HCDR I really do not enjoy the punk oriented attitude both musically and lyrically that the band is taking.
