They're really good.

blacbloc 11-07-2006 05:44 PM

neurosis
high on fire
bongzilla
noothgrush
the sword

pate 11-07-2006 05:52 PM

Sleep, Isis, Neurosis, High on Fire, and Bongzilla are great.

TojesDolan 11-07-2006 06:02 PM

Reverend Bizarre is really good. I still don't get some Cathedral songs that are a bit less doom-esque. Then again, it could be their older days... thingie.

You forgot to mention The Sword. That stuff is catchy.

I'm downloading the Giant Squid album right now. I heard one of their songs on satellite radio and loved it, so hopefully this will be a strong record! :thumb: I'll post back in a while when I'm done listening with a link and the verdict.

pate 11-07-2006 06:11 PM

Ehh...I don't like The Sword that much.

Sleepy 11-07-2006 06:14 PM
Ehh...I don't like The Sword that much.
It's understandable, I suppose. But I like them.

However, if you don't like this Giant Squid, I think I may have to administer your arse to a mental hospital. :amaze:

Smackers 11-07-2006 09:33 PM

I don't care much for the Sword, but they did have a fun live show.

Jondur 11-08-2006 05:26 AM
I don't live there, though I've gone there for concerts, I think.
Its a dump. Which is good.

You should have come down - I would have bought you a Duvel before drunkenly slurring in your ear and then falling over. It would have been fun.

I just ordered it.

And I think the Sword are strictly average.

the2stranger 11-08-2006 03:37 PM

I'm listening to Tyranny roght now, anyone else like them?
Great funeral doom, very very very heavy atmopshere.

Finlanfd is the number one country for FD. :p

It's some pretty cool stuff, you'll probably enjoy it. I'm beginning to question whether or not they even fall under the Doom category, but oh well.

I guess I'm really the only Sword fan here. I think they're way catchy, really fun to listen to.

CabbageStabbage 11-08-2006 04:46 PM

Is Nortt good or well known? I've heard a song or two from that guy. His ideas are crazy though. He's all "Death is the answer to life's problems"

In doom-related news, I passed a lot of time in my philosophy class by desk drumming a very, very slow doom beat. Bass... Hats... Snare... Hats... One bar of that takes 15 seconds. That's 16 BPM, haha. What's the slowest doom song out there?

Apocalyptic Raids 11-08-2006 04:50 PM

I've got Nortt's first full-length, it's alright. I haven't listened much, though. If you're into Funeral Doom or Black Metal I would check them out.

I can't wait for it to come. I imagine it'll be cool.

I like the Sword a lot!

I'm trying to see them in December.

Kyle 11-08-2006 07:12 PM

I think they're pretty cool.

but they're great live, so go see them.

That sounds like it would be a fun show, I'll probably check their tour dates soon to see if they're dropping by Las Vegas anytime soon.

Nepenthe 11-08-2006 09:23 PM

The Sword are awesome. Barael's Blade through Winter Wolves will kick a person's ***.

I'm slowly collecting the Clutch catalogue

And I've loads of Brant Bjork on order at work, and the Earthlings? debut's on it's way off ebay

Productivity during ban'd time++

Txus 11-09-2006 09:16 AM

Clutch are amazing :)

I've been listening to a lot of Kyuss and QOTSA lately, good stuff.

pate 11-09-2006 10:54 AM

Kyuss is the best thing ever.

the2stranger 11-09-2006 11:40 AM

Kyuss > QOTSA
I'm not really in a stoner mood right now though, more in a funeral doom modd. \m/

pate 11-09-2006 12:02 PM

I'm never not in a stoner metal mood.

AlienEater 11-09-2006 01:19 PM

I'm rarely in a stoner or doom metal mood anymore.

It's such great music, doesn't matter if you're angry or happy or stoned as hell already.

Kyuss is basically the opus of Stoner.

Nostalgia 11-09-2006 11:04 PM

Can anyone link me or send me though AIM Turn Loose The Swans by My Dying Bride? It'd be much appreciated. I have the album on CD, but can't put it on my computer. A link or AIM transfer would be awesome.

Here's my e-mail:
