Bad Blood 06-22-2006 02:36 AM

I doubt Deryck did write the solos, he's not that good of a guitarist.

poo-poo-pee-pee 06-22-2006 04:12 AM

How do you know though? He never really shows off during shows, and we dunno who plays the solo's on the albums.

Bad Blood 06-22-2006 04:19 AM

I just assume. If he did write any of the solos i'm sure he would play some in shows.

yourstruly 06-22-2006 04:52 AM
I doubt Deryck did write the solos, he's not that good of a guitarist.
He's an alright guitarist. Some of his guitar parts are pretty hard to play while singing.

Bad Blood 06-22-2006 05:08 AM

Yeah, but guitar parts on their own, aren't amazing. I dunno. I always though of him as a mediocre guitarist.

DJ Ducksauce 06-22-2006 07:25 AM

Well usually when the main singer is playing guitar, his part isn't complicated and is easy to play while singing.

He seems like one of those good guitarists who can play, but doesn't show it off live any. Like Billie Joe kinda.

Ahem! Claudio!

DJ Ducksauce 06-22-2006 12:01 PM

Haha, yeah, that's only some of his songs though, usually, when he's singing, it's not too complicated.

I can kinda do IKKSE:3 while singing, but it's pretty confuzzling.

And I did say usually...

Slaybial Punker 06-22-2006 04:13 PM

I solved the mystery of who really wrote the solos. Though not much of a surprise.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=kRRzvc0XzfQ&search=Dave%20Brownsound

Though, Deryck is a pretty creative guy. You look at the riffs for Fat Lip, Over My Head, Still Waiting, The Bitter End... They're all pretty good. Deryck could probably solo if he wanted to.

Necrophagist's lead growler does the growls while playing the lead guitar parts, and if you look at their tabs, you'll know that it is in fact impossible, but he does it anyways.

HAHA, WHO'S RIGHT? Don't frieking argue with me anymore...and I'm not necessarily talking to you Slaybial Punker, but anyone who disagreed with what I said.

Fish 06-22-2006 08:49 PM

whoa, nice... i wonder what they are going to do now though
whoa, nice... i wonder what they are going to do now though
Be amazing and have fun doing it

yourstruly 06-23-2006 01:51 AM

I think it's real cool that they're so chilled about the whole situation. No bitterness at all. :)
I think it's real cool that they're so chilled about the whole situation. No bitterness at all. :)
That's because they thoroughly understand that "you can't escape the bitter end". So they just except it all and move on. :chug:

What about Dave Mustaine ??

DJ Ducksauce 06-23-2006 01:57 PM

Well like I said earlier, I didn't say all main singers.

2muchket! 06-23-2006 02:35 PM

Yeah yeah, anyway it will be interesting to see what they're gonna be like live now.

TheBassicBassist 06-23-2006 10:45 PM

The only thing that is going to change as far as live performances is the rap. Because, alot of guitarists are as good as Dave, so they can play the guitar, on top of the fact that Dave didn't ever do anything crazy on stage, so his stage presence will just get replaced. It'll be fine, stop worrying about it.

yourstruly 06-23-2006 10:58 PM

Losing Dave isn't a big deal at all. Nothing compared to if Green Day lost Mike.

TheBassicBassist 06-29-2006 09:41 PM

The Goon Platoon is closing down for good...too bad huh?

DJ Ducksauce 06-29-2006 09:42 PM

Oh wow, is there a reason as to why?

TheBassicBassist 06-29-2006 11:32 PM
Oh wow, is there a reason as to why?
Apparently they feel that their fan-base is in jeapordy, because you have to pay to be a member...so in order to pay back all the members of Goon Platoon they're sending all of the paying people a poster with their name on it...I think it's kid of stupid, but whatever, they thought that alot of their fans just didn't care that much because you had to pay to see all of the bonus content and stuff. The whole thing is just really dumb, and I think that it should still be open.

yourstruly 06-29-2006 11:43 PM

Is this "Goon Platoon" like a fan club sorta thing?

DJ Ducksauce 06-30-2006 04:05 AM

Yeah, it's kind of like blink's street team and many other bands have things like this where if you pay, you get certain priveleges and content that other people don't. I guess that Sum 41 felt it wasn't fair to everybody or something.

bassist_for_a_band 06-30-2006 10:41 AM

I think it's a ripoff... You pay $20, and all you really get is like a shirt and stuff, then you can access parts of the site and whatnot... It's sweet if you can meet them after a show, but the membership only lasts a year. If you don't go to a show in that year, then you have to pay $20 again to keep being a member just to see them at a show.

Storm In A Teacup 06-30-2006 11:42 AM

Is Sum 41 recording anything new?

I bet BassicBassist knows. :p

-Kripes (remember me?)

Jessizzle 06-30-2006 11:47 AM

I always wanted to be an aquacadet, you get some pretty cool stuff, I mean most bands sell their shirt for 15-20$, plus you get stickers and the like. and the bragging rights, like HEy! Im an aquacadet! Bow to me sucka! or something along thoes lines...

yourstruly 06-30-2006 06:14 PM

I hate stuff like that. For you guys it's $20, but for me it would be more like $50.

bassist_for_a_band 06-30-2006 06:27 PM

Yea dude one time I let myself pay $20 for some green day fan club thing... All I ever got for it was a shirt, some crappy wristband that fell off right away, an air freshener, and a little membership card. It was such a waste.
