^Lol, nice pun.

Also, I must say I like the discussion being generated lately in the Jam thread.. Keeps things interesting around here. Probably due to the massive amount of great live music coming up in the near future.:smoke:

I will upload a solid sound quality show with a good setlist from my collection of either STS9, Lotus, or Grateful Dead sometime soon..

magicbus 04-17-2009 03:52 PM

Not sure if that STS9 set is SBD or not Lunch, I just grabbed a torrent somewhere. It sounds really good though, I recommend everyone check it out.

This 2/6/70 set the Dead has is pretty awesome so far. Really good setlist.

joshmay 04-17-2009 10:50 PM

that tribe set sounds damn good...id say its a soundboard.

yeah its good times rollin in here...i was gonna ask you guys if you had any ideas for how we could do more with the other music forum in general? id like to use my mod wand for the greater good.

i for one think we need more sendspace/mediafire/whatever upload threads. i think we all agree on a few of the finer points and its always good communing with other good folks. also they deleted the jazz forum (and put in a hiphop one), i dont know what thats about but we need to integrate the jazz people here, they are cool as **** and totally welcome. i myself petitioned for a country/folk forum but the Sputnikis wouldnt have it.

anyways what kinda nugs been circulatin in yalls neck of the woods? they are talkin about medical mj in tennessee, and i live about 30 miles from the border so that would be sweet. there is always good dank in ky though, recently got into this legit **** called butterscotch diesel ... it amazes me what people are doin with the genetics anymore...this bud tasted like a werther's original.

Sinsemilla 04-18-2009 09:08 AM

The Low Life is a very excellent jam band that has reggae elements in their music as well.

Ghostfire3 04-19-2009 12:04 PM

Nice man, never heard of butterscotch deisel but sounds delicious.. Illinois may be decriminalizing as well but we'll see if it actually happens. Chicago gets that kill; there's nothin better than some headie nugs. Lately I've had various kush strains and also some green crack which is bomb, although the name does not sound very appealing. Sour deisel is one of my favorites and I also had that pretty recently.:smoke:

Broken Arrow 04-20-2009 07:35 AM

Happy 420 guys.

Lately for me it's Northern Lights. but we had a more local strain outta Ontario called Willy Wonder which was great creeper high.

robo2448 04-20-2009 10:20 AM

Happy 420 everyone. Haven't celebrated yet today but got pretty high out of my mind last night after midnight. We got some stuff that apparently is some outdoor from cali, it actually doesn't look that great (still and smells very good), but it just hits you with an incredible head high. Drugs & Society class today is going to be an adventure.

Wood Nacho 04-20-2009 03:41 PM

Happy 420! :smoke:

My plans include:

1. Lots of smoking

2. Lots of Grateful Dead

magicbus 04-20-2009 04:31 PM

We just rolled up a foot long joint filled with a quarter of Northern Lights. As soon as this class is done, it's on.

I'll try to put up the picture I got of it haha.

Ghostfire3 04-20-2009 11:53 PM

Ghostfire3 04-21-2009 03:26 PM

Lollapalooza lineup is now up. I'm not too impressed, but then again I never really am with Lollapalooza. They never get enough bands I like to make me actually want to go.

http://2009.lollapalooza.com/

I would like to see Thievery Corporation, STS9, and Atmosphere but not badly enough to shell out $200.

Also, I'm a little nervous/disappointed that STS9 is playing Lollapalooza. I'm not completely mad they're doing it, I just don't want them to pick up a shitty fanbase. Their fanbase is already split between those who know the band well from their older stuff, and the tree thugger kids who think they're gangsta or some shit and tend to ruin the vibe. Some of those dudes get too fucked up at the show for their own good.

Ladies and gentlemen, from the infamous Europe '72 Tour...

Grateful Dead at Olympia Theater, Paris, France, 1972-04-05
brilliant show and a must have. Best version of Sugar Magnolia ever (to me, anyway): Bob's voice is at it's best. This particular version seems to be the one found on Europe 72 official release... Anyway, one of the greatest Grateful Dead stories ever told. Reading the various books over the years, it becomes apparent that band and crew alike were blazing like a forest fire at this show.

Donna recounts lying down underneath Keith's piano for a while during Playing, so high that all she could do was groove on the jam. At one point, she says, she thought, "Hey, I'm *in* this band!" and went back out to sing.

Any of you guys listen to the Disco Biscuits? I've been checking into some of their stuff recently. I like their concept of "inverted" and "dyslexic" songs.

joshmay 04-22-2009 01:42 AM

Yes! Finally a little Bisco love in this thread. The Disco Biscuits are only getting better as a band. They just tore it up on the winter tour they just did. They are extremely creative and transition from song to song like no other. And agreed, the inverted thing is great. If you get a chance to seem 'em at a fest don't miss out!

I was planning on going to Bisco Inferno at Red Rocks this year but I don't have the money. Lineup is sick though. Disco Biscuits, Lotus, The New Deal, RJD2 and others

I highly recommend anyone looking to get into the Disco Biscuits obtain a copy of The Wind at Four to Fly. Or maybe I will upload it for everyone
fillmore show?
Yessir.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Biscos at Rothbury. They do have a very unique sound. The show I've been listening to lately is their 09-01-2001 show at the Wetlands Preserve. Got a real cool Floes>House Dog Party Favor jam.

robo2448 04-22-2009 04:44 PM

Never got into the disco biscuits, but gotta admit i've never really tried.

Lunch 04-23-2009 06:39 PM

Biscuits are great if you're in the mood...I've never seen them live. 2007-06-26 is a good show with good quality, check it out on archive. If someone could upload The Wind at Four to Fly I'd be grateful. Their "inverted" and "dyslexic" thing would be cooler if all their songs didn't already sound the same, but it's cool how they switch things up. I really like Bisco when they just trance out, their vocals are horrible.

STS9 scene is definitely on the way down it seems. Even when I first saw them in fall 07 is was way better than when I saw them last fall. Too many flat brimmed kids who ate too many rolls. Speaking of the Disco Biscuits :p

Ghostfire3 04-23-2009 08:29 PM

Yes, that was what I was alluding to Lunch.. There is an increasing amount of these individuals that seem to be beginning to flood the STS9 and Disco Biscuits scenes. However, I must reiterate that this is not a true reflection of either band's fanbase. There are most definitely some genuine fun-loving fellows at both shows and I have definitely felt that some of the best atmospheres are at Tribe and Bisco shows. Just gotta find the right spot in the crowd

For those of you who've never tried giving the Disco Biscuits a listen, check it out.

Recommended tracks:

World Is Spinning
Story of the World
Basis for a Day
Little Shimmy in a Conga Line

Listen to at least the last 6 or 7 minutes of Basis for a Day (it's 29 minutes long). The solo at the end by Jon Gutwillig is mind blowing. He absolutely tears it apart. Excellent guitarist

robo2448 04-26-2009 12:16 AM

tonight's dead msg show is incredible, i just finished streaming set 2 on gdradio.net

a really really good show. i missed the first set stream but the second 2 just blew me away. i think gdradio is streaming it again tomorrow so check it out or check on the archive, hopefully it'll be uploaded right away. it's definitely worth hearing if you want to try some new dead.

joshmay 04-26-2009 08:33 PM

thanks for the word, all ive heard is that first show of the tour, the one i was supposed to have been at, and it just got me ready to hear more! i dont know how the hell im gonna make it to rothbury but i know i need to.

magicbus 04-26-2009 11:02 PM

Man I'm listening to this Bisco show a little closer this time through, they jam the **** out. Mindless Dribble>Above the Waves>Mindless Dribble is awesome (a good example of them trancin out, Lunch), and I'm really diggin' the Floes>House Dog Party Favor jams as well.

I recommend that link above if you're tryin to check out their stuff.

The opening show was good, but they have progressed miles from that since. Seriously, set aside a few hours to listen to that MSG show. 4/22 at Wilkes Barre is another real standout from the tour in my opinion. Definitely check out at least those two.

robo2448 04-30-2009 12:30 AM

Dead shows the past two nights with Branford have been smoking. Check them out. First night is already on archive, second night is streaming on gdradio right now and tomorrow, but it'll probably be posted on archive by tomorrow too.
