were forgetting the greatest guitarist of all time Jimi Hendrix
People have been trying to keep this thread free of your crap, he has been mentioned too much, fair enough, you've got to have respect for him but don't be narrow minded. |
im 14 and i've loved "classic rock" since i was 3...ZZ Top, Van Halen, Def Leppard, AC/DC, Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Guns N Roses, Nazareth, etc
|
What about the Doors? Jim Morrison is a prophet, a brillant poet. And their guitarist (forgot his name, ****it) is pretty good. I need to go to Jim's grave in paris.
Edit: Forgot their organ player, my favortie next to steve winwood. |
Robbie Kreiger? Hes average at best...innovative though.
Morrison was wicked but very, very f ucked. Good lyrics though. Great frontman. |
Fine. What dance music do you think I would like? Keeping in mind that I like mainly loud *** guitar rock.

Well, I mentioned Primal Scream. They incorporate alot of dance music elements with rock...(the singer was the drummer for the Jesus and Mary Chain, and the bassist used to play for the stone roses, another older band with dance influences you may want to check out). I'd say just download "dirty hits" (their best of CD) and check that out.
I wasn't so much trying to force dance music on anyone as much as to make the point that there are some brilliant compositions hidden underneath some usually cheesy vocals. I probably wouldn't recommend straight house or trance or anything to you, because you probably wouldn't like it, although I would suggest Underworld because everybody seems to like Underworld (you may know them from "born slippy", the title track off of Trainspotting). But anyways, there was a good point made that this IS a classic rock thread...so on with that :) I was listening to Rush - Signals the other day, while high, and I was astounded by how "warm" the album was (lush synths used on that album!). I don't know if you guys smoke but uh...if you do...whats the best thing to listen to while stoned? |

The guitarist was Robbie Kreiger. Ray played keyboards/bass. John Densmore on drums. |

Yea I was refering to the keyboardist. |

I don't know if you guys smoke but uh...if you do...whats the best thing to listen to while stoned?
I don't really anymore, but "One Of These Days" by Pink Floyd sounded really cool. Mostly stuff by them. |

I think it would be a crime not to mention The doors/ |
Absolutely...Jim's a trippy guy :)
|
trip-pay indeed.

whenever i get blazed i usually listen to grateful dead or pink floyd .....good times :smoke: |
Yes, when smoke I also listen to Pink Floyd and sometimes the calmer, chiller Doors like End of the Night, The End, Crystal Ship, stuff like that.
|
Yeah when I smoke I listen to a lot of mellow stuff like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, The Doors, etc. :smoke: :smoke: :smoke:
|
I feel special I started a discussion
Oh, and I just feel like saying Deep Purple rules. |
LED ZEPPELIN OWNS! gotta love classic rock
Stones, ac/dc, zep, floyd, cream and ****in tons more |
Yeah when I smoke I listen to a lot of mellow stuff like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, The Doors, etc. :smoke: :smoke: :smoke:
Like the mellow zeppelin stuff right? You shook me, dazed and confused, the rain song maybe? |
Best Zeppelin song while high (IMHO): No quarter
|
^One of the best zeppelin songs in my opinon :thumb:
|
Oh yeah. Most definitely one of my favorites. Theres a Tool cover of it as well that is really well done.
Zeppelin was so good, even though they had some dodgy tunes sometimes. Alot of people don't like their funk stuff, but I still feel it. Personally, I'm a big fan of Zeppelin I. That is just some flat out blues and rock and roll. I also like Physical Graffiti, which I think gets overlooked sometimes. Custard Pie is the sh it. |
The Doors are best when on Acid or other halutionagions (sp?) cause theres so musch imagery in Jims lyrics.
|
I would imagine so but...acid is bad, I won't touch the stuff. Too many risks. If I ever get signed, and I need to release a really good album, I'll do acid. But I doubt that will happen.
|
Acid=bad for the guitar playing (cause guitar requires a clear mind). But very very good for lyrics.
|
I heard somewhere that if you drop acid 7 or more times, you are declared legally insane. That would probably explain Flea...and my reasons for avoiding it :p
|
wow tr00. Not everybody who does too much acid becomes the bass player of RHCP though.
|

That's not true. Look at Phil Lesh, he's as strait as they come, not insane. |
Yep. Then again so is Good Charlotte :(. Some teenagers are more cool than others I guess.
*Looks around wearing zeppelin shirt* Uh... Am I cool? I like zeppelin. |
Yea acid sucks. Look at Syd Barrett. But its ok I like Gilmour better.
