I never really liked the Care Bears.

Badmoon 03-01-2005 06:53 PM
I also heard "Sweet Melissa" playing in a commercial a couple times today.
Do you mean "Melissa", or is there some other song named "Sweet Melissa"?

:)
I never really liked the Care Bears.
There's a kid at my school that always has a tie-dye Dead shirt with the bears on it, and he always looks high.

And he used to have dreads.

DeusExMachina 03-01-2005 06:54 PM
What exactly is the appeal of tie-dye shirts?
I think they're pretty, and I enjoy wearing them. I don't care whether or not people get a "stoner" impression of me. All the people who I care about the opinion of aren't going to judge me by the clothes I wear.

Walrus Gumboot 03-01-2005 06:54 PM
Did any of you see American Idol last night?
The guy did a (terrible) rendition of "Whipping Post." I thought it was cool he chose that song, no one can come close to Gregg's voice though. Simon and all them fools were like in awe of his performance...I know it was the song selection though.

I also heard "Sweet Melissa" playing in a commercial a couple times today.
"Sweet Home Alabama" is in a KFC commercial.
"The Weight" is on some insurance or something commercial.
I always loved entertaining the thought of a young Robert Plant on American Idol, or Pop Idol since he is from the UK.

PS: My friend Kim(berly) would attempt rape on anyone wearing that Jim Morrison shirt

Dead Bears retard.

And they are an American icon. And I'm not saying that because the Dead use them. They are strongly known as the face you'd see on a stamp of Acid.

Walrus Gumboot 03-01-2005 07:00 PM

I saw a Grateful Dead shirt I really liked in this place in Woodstock, NY (I forget what it was called). It was the only American Beauty one I have yet come across. Too small :upset:

BludgeonySteve 03-01-2005 07:00 PM

I remember somebody on American Idol did Travelin' Band a week or two ago. Was that the same guy?

DeusExMachina 03-01-2005 07:45 PM

PinkFreud 03-01-2005 08:18 PM

Good job I wish I thought the same these teachers in Katy look at a kid like me with bell-bottoms on with long hair and say "Hey hippie! Cut your hair boy!" Fuckin white-trash assholes.

I dont feel confortable with long hair anymore. :upset:

Also: Tie-Die shirts are badass.

wanton 03-01-2005 08:24 PM

This site has a ton of Grateful Dead shirts and some other bands, tie-dyed and nontie-dyed http://www.dharmarose.com/stores/music/deadclassic.html

PS Someone please recommend me some Widespread Panic

That sucks man. Occasionally people give me **** for the way I dress and act, or the music I listen to, but I just try and let it slide. That sucks though, rednecks are no fun.

Care bears = Dead Bears. They're the same bears.

They are an American icon, they were on the Simpsons.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 03-01-2005 08:27 PM

Im not much for jam bands but you should get Uber Cobra or Light Fuse, Get Away.

Have you ever seen the cartoon Care bears?

Those aren't Dead Bears.

I feel like those guys on Easy Rider. You know?

And once they're on the Simpsons they're an american icon....

That was one artist's impression of them. I've seen other care bear pictures that are nearly identical to the "Dead bears".

If possible, get Space Wrangler first. Then I'd recommend Til the Medicine Takes. And Schyma is right, Uber Cobra is a good [live] album too.

i hope that wasnt sarcastic, because that does happen to be mostly true...

I love jam bands. Im really startin to just get into them though.

NP: Fire on the mountain

Badmoon 03-01-2005 08:32 PM
That was one artist's impression of them. I've seen other care bear pictures that are nearly identical to the "Dead bears".
Either way (That is if it even is true, which I'm still kind of doubting), they are not care bears, nor gummi bears, polar bears, or any other form of bear.

MalcolmYoungRock 03-01-2005 08:32 PM
tr00f
So the Hammers from the Wall are american icons?
i hope that wasnt sarcastic, because that does happen to be mostly true...
Yeah, it was.

Another one jumps off..... :upset:

Distant Echoes 03-01-2005 08:36 PM

Well either way your + repped MYR. enjoy

Simpsons define american culture. Just about anything on that show defines american culture in a way...or if it doesnt, that shows brings it one step further.

But to stay on classic rock topic...I got some live Deep Purple CD in Japan which could be the best CD i ever bought. Are Deep Purple considered just a great of rock or legendary, since ive heard many different opinions

Distant Echoes 03-01-2005 08:37 PM
Another one jumps off..... :upset:
Whats that sopposed to mean?

it seems whever im actually focused on here, its only for negative things...im such a n00b
Either way (That is if it even is true, which I'm still kind of doubting), they are not care bears, nor gummi bears, polar bears, or any other form of bear.
Well they are obviously not polar bears, but they do closely resemble Care bears. They are now Dead Bears though.

I'm sort of a n00b* to jam bands too. Don't worry about it.

*excluding the Grateful Dead. Only Badmoon can call me a Grateful Dead n00b. Which I'm almost certain he will take this oppurtunity to do.

jpj 03-01-2005 08:43 PM

If any of you have digital cable with On Demand, there's a half hour of Widespread Panic's Live From The Backyard DVD. I suggest you watch it.

Gee, that was a good one. I never saw that coming.

Edit: LOL it was a joke. I wasn't angry. JOKE.
Gee, that was a good one. I never saw that coming.
Were you expecting a load of insults concerning your Grateful Dead knowledge.

And geeze, you have been uneedingly negative and derogatory lately.

You need to ease up once in awhile.

Are light hearted jokes too much for you anymore?

Paranoidd 03-01-2005 09:50 PM
