the movie could always wait..

jrowa001 12-15-2007 10:44 AM

yeah but i have been wanting to watch since i saw the previews and i am currently reading Fight Club (yeah it took me this long to get the book), and this other book called Dreamer by Jack Butler

superpeer 12-15-2007 10:53 AM

I'm reading A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by Joyce.

Usually I prefer watching the movie first, because if you've read the book first, you just get annoyed by the differences.

Monticello 12-15-2007 10:58 AM

I'm never excited when a good book gets made into a film.

jrowa001 12-15-2007 10:58 AM

thats true, thats a main reason why i got the Bourne books after seeing the movies

So I Am Legend wasn't that bad, or not as bad as I was expecting anyways.

I thought you didn't really like it.

halfdeadhippo 12-15-2007 11:29 AM

I just got home from school the other day, and I was trying to catch up on sleep when, within a matter of minutes from each other, my mom starts vacuuming the floor right above my head (I sleep on a loft), then my dad turns up his music to compensate, then my sisters turn up their tv (in the room right next to mine) and all this to the point where I can hear it despite wearing earplugs. So now my good friends Kyuss are helping me compete, but unlike the rest of my family, I have earplugs.

I might be seeing that tonight. I actually expect it to be good.

Shattered_Future 12-15-2007 12:38 PM

Apparently the ending is really terrible. I'd go see it if I take my brother, cause then I get to see it for free.

The end was kinda meh, but overall I liked it.

My daddy found a stray puppy last night. I think we are going to keep him.

NemesisDivina 12-15-2007 02:57 PM

@I Am Legend discussion

I talked to my brother and the movie and the book have almost nothing in common except for the basic concept.

Tyler 12-15-2007 02:58 PM

I wanted to read I Am Legend for the longest time. Then I didnt want to when I heard they were making a movie.

Then I heard the movie was randomly about zombies instead of vampires and that it was completely bastardized so now I want to read the book again.

NemesisDivina 12-15-2007 03:05 PM

No, they're vampires... they just happen to look a lot like zombies. But regardless, they have the same nuances and whatnot that vampires do. Except... they became vampires in a really strange/interesting way.

Tyler 12-15-2007 03:06 PM

I heard otherwise but regardless, I heard the third act of the movie was absolutely awful so I won't bother seeing it anytime soon.

TojesDolan 12-15-2007 03:06 PM

I ams LEGgENDSs

On a related note, yeah.
I heard otherwise but regardless, I heard the third act of the movie was absolutely awful so I won't bother seeing it anytime soon.
I liked the third act a lot, but I'm not gonna pretend to be some sort of movie expert or even pretend to have good taste in movies for that matter. The movie was astonishingly good. It was the best movie I've seen since 300...

Tyler 12-15-2007 03:10 PM

It's all a matter of taste, for sure, I've just heard that it sort of collapsed at that point.

I just really would rather read the book first, even if they are as different as I've heard. I'll see it eventually, because I'm a fan of those types of movies. There was one that came out mid-80s and I loved it as a kid, but I can't remember what it was called. It started with some kid in a record store, and had lots of shots on the streets, in daylight.

NemesisDivina 12-15-2007 03:12 PM

I'm gonna read the book very soon. Conveniently, my brother bought it to read it recently.

Robert Neville is described as a caucasian blond-haired blue-eyed German male in the book.

Jack Russell crossed with something else, I'd think.

Valhall 12-15-2007 03:52 PM

I really didn't think 300 was all that great, Matt....?

AA-12 12-15-2007 03:53 PM

I loved 300 but it was a bit overhyped.
