Silver Apples - Contact
good album. You know how you used to press buttons on the phone to make awesome songs? They did it before you did!
That is a sweet album. I've been meaning to listen to it again, but I always forget or am too lazy. |
the phone buttons only have three different notes
each row is just D E F# according to some freak with pefect pitch :(
People who have perfect pitch/claim to tend to be somewhat assholes. At least in my experience. |
Peter Murphy - Deep
Possibly the coolest older man in the punk genre these days. Fuck John Lydon. |
1) For school this year I interviewed Morton Subotnick the man who wrote "Silver Apples of the Moon," which the band doesn't claim to be their namesake but might as well be, as it's a very important electronic work. He was a very interesting guy.
2) People with perfect pitch LOVE to flaunt it, but what's even worse are people that are trying to develop it. This is because those kids will ALWAYS ask if a pitch is whatever they think it is, and when they're right they'll become very smug and obnoxious. I don't know, it bugs me. I go to music school. Shit. 3) I like jams. |
i imagine having perfect pitch takes the fun out of discovering how music is played, because you already know and you don't have to screw around on the frets or keyboard to find out how to play a melody.
but i guess it's no big deal for them if they were born with it :-/ |
Big Black - Songs About Fucking
It's kinda funny how abrasive and brutal their songs are and the stuff they sing about then you look at Steve Albini he looks like an extra from Office Space. |
Is the group anything like the movie?
Because I liked the movie.
wtf there's a movie? |
! That's pretty awesome. Got a transcript laying around by any chance? |
It's going to be published soon. It was written for this "living music" website that my professor maintains. Mine is probably the most famous informant on the site. I can send you a text file of the transcrip too, if you want.
|
When will it be published? I remember I read an interview with him in this book of interviews with American composers I found. I think there was a part about how was saying he invented the light show or something akin to what would become the light show. Or maybe that was someone else.
|
I don't know, whenever my prof. gets around to it.
|
Hook me up, I'll read it. I'll probably forget later.
|
Check your rep.
|
No, you check your rep.
i'd say Good Morning Captain is the big deal.
but honestly the whole thing will grow on you like a strange purple wig, shaped like a strawberry
"Nosferatu Man" was the best track I thought. TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain I'm finally starting to dig these guys. But this is waaaaay better than Desperate Youth... I don't think either album lives up to the awesomeness of their live show. |
Nothing at all lives up to that version of "Ambulance" that they closed with.
