The vast majority of my friends are really straight laced, but my closest 2 friends used to steal and have pretty bad drug issues but they're amazing people, thankfully they're over that and doing well in their jobs and happy with their home lives.

I already stated the law of averages suggests that some druggies will recover and some will not, it's a pretty safe assumption that you're gambling with druggies when you confide in them. It's not a risk I would take. When you make decisions you look at the pros and cons. What exactly are the pros of keeping a druggie in your life? Companionship? That can be attained elsewhere with other people.

In general though, I don't need exterior companionship (friends) when I have my brother (interior companionship) someone who I helped mold as a person, helped raise.
I know him more than anyone, I can predict what he'll say before he says it, etc. It's a BOND.

If he did become a druggie I would most likely discard him. My dad has a druggie brother and did. He talks to him like once a year on the phone.
