I honestly think Val Kilmer deserved serious Oscar consideration for his performance in that movie. How many actors could pull off being Jim Morrison?
It is hard to achieve that level of awesomeness.
Everyone at my school is either a heavy metal fanboy or an AC/DC fanboy. And I am considered uncool regardless of the fact that I listen to classic rock. Being a classic rock freak doesn't help matters much, though.
Meh, I'm pretty quiet about my classic rockishness, but if someone asks or if someone disses some awesome band, I get fired up. In my production period (I'm the assistant in the copy room), i tune the radio to the classic rock station, and when its an oldies style song on I get 'soft' teachers who say "Oh you listen to oldies, thats good." Egh.....

Naw, everyone at my school is country, hip-hop, or crappy nu/death-metal. Mostly the former two.

DeusExMachina 01-09-2005 12:36 AM

Yeah, I got brownie points from my chem teacher for liking Elvis Costello. Speaking of which, no one talks about Elvis Costello in here. What are opinions of him?

Badmoon 01-09-2005 12:37 AM

I don't care for Elvis Costello.

Johnny B. Good 01-09-2005 12:37 AM

he's okay Allison is a good song

Illmatic 01-09-2005 12:42 AM

Elvis Costello is okay.

another guy 01-09-2005 01:00 AM

i dont like elvis costello, really. he is treated like a classic by everyone who talks about him, but i dunno, he just doesnt do it for me

Badmoon 01-09-2005 01:06 AM

Update: Wake of the Flood is a perfect album. Listen to it strait through and then tell me it's not.

Creedence Clearwater 01-09-2005 05:34 AM

maybe its because your a loser with no social skills? listened to a type of music doesnt make you cool but being smelly makes you uncool.

think about that

Woodstock 01-09-2005 10:42 AM

I honestly haven't heard much from Costello. Although, Allison was a pretty good song.

Friendly today, are we? Hate to sound cliche, but I'm not popular because I don't follow a norm, and have weird interests, not because I'm a "loser with no social skills" or am "smelly." When I lived in Seattle, I was popular enough, but now I live in a suburban area where everyone is rich and white, and spends hundreds of dollars on clothing. Hence, me not fitting in. And if to be popular I need to completely change who I am, and start shopping all the time and acting like a moron from the OC, then I don't want to be popular. I'm not quite sure why you made that comment, but I talked about "not being popular" because that was sort of the topic of discussion at the time, classic rock not being popular. I wan't complaining, I'm perfectly happy with my situation, so lay off a bit, ok?

If you're interested in hearing his stuff, get My Aim is True. Great album.

Woodstock 01-09-2005 01:51 PM

Can someone send me In the Court of the Crimson King?

I already asked for it in the Abum trading thread, but I'm very desperate.

magicbus 01-09-2005 02:02 PM

I don't have that one on computer, sorry dewdz.

And yea I think Morrison's death is pretty accurate on the movie. Drinking all the time, his heart probably stopped or something.

Artist's to research list:

Buddy Guy
Robert Cray
Eric Johnson
Jimmie Vaughn
SRV
JJ Cale.

Basically I need to get albums by them. My dad already has like every SRV and Double Trouble cd ever, but I personally don't own any. So any recommendations or comments would be nice. And I blew some minds yesterday with my playing. Can't wait till talent show in May.

No, it's perfect. Your listening influence has been screwed with, that is why you cannot see the perfection that lies within Wake of the Flood ;)

I've got a bootleg of Buddy Guy and SRV playing together, it's pretty awesome. I can send it to you if you want.

magicbus 01-09-2005 03:24 PM

Yea that would be sweet. And Happy Birthday to Jimmy Page!

Illmatic 01-09-2005 03:28 PM

It's not possible for a person to be perfect, but music and movies can be perfect.

DeusExMachina 01-09-2005 03:35 PM

I think there's always room for anything to improve.

Illmatic 01-09-2005 03:38 PM

Seriously?

When you watch a movie or listen to a song and can't think of any way to improve it, it's perfect.

magicbus 01-09-2005 03:51 PM

Or you're just uncreative.

Woodstock 01-09-2005 03:53 PM

In the Court of the Crimson King>Me
Seriously?

I disagree. Just because I can't come up with a way to improve it doesn't mean it can't be improved. Hendrix could write a great song, and I wouldn't be able to improve it, but then he would. There's always room for input. Perfect is way too subjective of a word.

Broken Arrow 01-09-2005 04:16 PM

I'm happy to see Mx won't be going down as much.w00t.

I think that french herion killed Jim as he killed Janis Jolpin.
