Listening to new 1349. Almost ten minutes in and not a single blastbeat.

I've never really liked them or hated them but when I heard the new album was supposed to be different I figured I'd give it a shot. It's been mostly ambient so far actually.

So far it's been wind noise + mid-paced snarl + random blast + wind noise

This song is cool so far, pretty traditional, thrashy bm. Shame it's called "Maggot Fetus…Teeth Like thorns"

edit: I spoke too soon again. Now it's got this almost industrial pace and really noisy annoying guitars.

Tbh I don't see them as a love or hate band at all. They're just there.

This seems like a step in the right direction. They're still trying a little too hard, but this time it's with the incorporation of ambiance and noisy stuff, so I'll take it. The album has been pretty slow to mid-paced so far and some of the mid-paced stuff is surprisingly decent.

I really can't picture them doing Noise/Ambient...

I couldn't either, that's why I took the album. It's produced by buddy from Celtic Frost so that gives you an idea of some of their new aesthetic.

I might grab it in a bit then.
